Here comes lockdown again, but not in the MMP!

Morning, mumpers! Over my side of the pond, we are looking at another 4-week lockdown where the majority of covid-safe places are closing but the petri dishes of education are staying open. Apparently that means we’ll all be home for Christmas!

Monday morning…been to the gym, had a chat with my boss about stuff, and now I am about to get on with a bit of irk that’s been hanging around for a while just getting put off because something else gets in the way. So what have you lot been putting off?

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'tIS 46 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 64 and N.O.S. for the day. Definitely a Fall day in south Jawja. We shall spiff da cave as today’s main activity. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Silly BooFae - don’t you know that Covid attacks with surgical precision and it doesn’t pose a threat to institutions of higher learning, or bars, or political rallies, or, ummmm… no, I can’t keep it up. Sorry…

Would that there existed a vaccine against stoooppidditty.

It amazes me how much a single hour of clock change has messed me up. I was falling asleep in front of the TV last night, but I awoke in the wee small hours and could not fall back to sleep, which means the cycle may well repeat tonight, unless I can force myself to stay up.

The one big plan for today is moving a large shelf from FCD’s office to the guest room. It’s too nice to get rid of and it makes his office too crowded. Tho with his impending retirement, I don’t know why it matters. However, move it, we will. And I think I’ll finally get around to scrubbing and priming the front doors. It’s going to be cold and windy and I just don’t want to mess around with my outdoor chores. It’s all of 36° right now and I am not impressed.

Thought my computer was infested this morning because it was doing weird stuff. Turns out I’d set my breakfast so that the edge of the plate was holding down the space bar. Second time the stoopit space bar has been an issue. Maybe I should tidy my desk?

Or not. Happy Moanday!!

Woke up at 0630, which is the usual 0730 by last week’s standards, and decided to stay up – I have to get up at 0400 tomorrow, so I’m hoping to be tired enough to go to sleep by 2200. 37 out, with an expected high of 43, then down to a low of 36. Similar weather predicted for the next few days, but starting Thorsday it’s supposed to start getting up into the 60s again.

Coffee…

Pellet stove place is closed on Moandays, of course. But I did get an email from our HVAC guys to schedule a check-up of our furnace. We have a maintenance agreement thru them and it gives us 2 system performance checks annually. I’ll set that up today.

Plus just back from dropping off FCD’s car - the shop finally got in the replacement wheel and they should be able to mount it today. Tomorrow I have to take daughter’s dog to the vet, since SIL’s hours are being increased and he’ll be going in earlier. Weds we go sign our wills, then Firday, we get our furniture. Busy week.

Today is my one year anniversary of being sMober. That means I have not smoked in 366 days (Leap year gave me an extra day).

Really?

Happy Moonday!

It’s cold outside, and windy, and snow flurries.

It’s cold and beautiful here. Coffee has been had, breakfast soon to follow with tons of vegetables. I’ve been putting off a doctor’s appointment. I have had a weird rash on my side for about two months, but I’ve been studiously ignoring it. Since it’s not going away, I should probably have it looked at, preferably before my mom’s surgery, which is next Tuesday. Given that it’s growing, it probably needs to be treated…somehow. I guess I’ll be an adult and do something about it.

Anyway, hopefully it’ll be a quiet day, but now that I’ve typed that, something will explode because that’s what happens this year.

And our alleged “public transit” did it again. Buses simply could not be bothered to show up, so now I had to upheave DH’s day, since taking Lyft yet again would be a significant financial strain.

Morning all. 46F here in North Ali-bama which qualifies as wintry weather in these parts. Heading up to the 70’s later this week, so back to fall.

Need to get dressed and do some serious banking (closing a small account at one place to open a new one where I have my checking account, making it easier to transfer–I have my parents habit of using more than one bank at a time for my money). Then drop off the light comforter to the dry cleaners and haul out the heavy one for the next 5 months.

Boofae, take care of yourself even in the other yahoos don’t. Nothing is going to be done here in the US of A until this election season is over.

FCM, herald, the time change doesn’t seem to have bothered me much

wetone, my congratulations, may you have many such anniversaries in your future.

talky, I’ve had an ache in my shoulder for several weeks, I’ve been meaning to see a doc but then it goes away until I forget about it and then I roll over or sleep on that side and…maybe this week. Or next.

nettie, do they give you a reason for it? Late buses I could understand, but not showing up at all…doubt you are the only one complaining.

OK, need to make myself presentable enough to do banking things. All y’all take care.

I have the type of alarm clock that is supposed to self-adjust for time changes. It didn’t yesterday, so I reset it by hand. Then this morning, when it was supposed to just be a clock, it reset an hour back. Took me a bit of poking around, but I discovered that the silly clock thought it was 2008! Bringing it up to date fixed that problem, but I was still up too darned early for my tastes.

BTW, crushed BBQ potato chips make a great thickener for deviled egg filling. Makes them even richer.

Happy Monday, y’all!

Their “customer service” is only open during my work hours. I’ve tried posting on their Facebook and messaging on Instagram. To be fair, it’s not business hours here yet. Also, I will concede that last Moanday wasn’t their fault, but the rest of the ongoing issues ARE.

Car has been retrieved, shelf unit is in the guest room and miscellany has been added to the shelves, and I hung FCD’s grandmother’s clock over the TV, finally! I also hung one of my daughter’s photos in the baby’s room. I can’t seem to get motivated to do the front door, tho. My excuse now is that it’s too close to lunch time. And before I get any snarky comments, I have lunch around 11 because I generally have breakfast around 6, so I’m getting pretty hongree by now.

Still crazy windy out there. But too many of the leaves are still green, so the trees won’t be laid bare, alas. It would be nice if the leaves that have fallen already would blow into the woods, but it never seems to work that way, does it?

Hello, Mumpers! Having a cuppa tea & a Pop-Tart (breakfast of champions!) and winding down from the anxiety-fest of this morning.

I absolutely forced myself to find/dig up/call around for the tax papers I need.

I haz them now, and my former I.T. Guy is flying me back for a visit in a week & said he’d help (e.g. do them for me) so that’s an enormous load off my mind.

Just doing that made my hands shake, though, hence the wind-down.

Once I put pants on later, imma drive around a bit, as I’d posted a request to a few local F.B. groups for uncarved pumpkins people no longer want, and a couple folks have already offered theirs.

Why? Because I’m utterly addicted to home-roasted pumpkin seeds.

I also forgot about that bag of donatables yesterday, so that can come along for the ride. But yesterday, I did accomplish some significant straightening-up (putting off that tax paperwork hunt for one final day) and even found a new local rat buyer, so yay me!

It’s hard to type while plugging both ears and going LALALALALALALA! I’m really trying to avoid any and all of the hysterics going on in the news cycle. The Ms is a political junkie, however, and will spend the day fretting over polls, even though she acknowledges that most of them are bullshit. I gotta find something to do outside the house; maybe just go sit in the garage and suck my thumb. Problem is, of course, that regardless of the outcome of things, the biggest glob of shit will hit the fan AFTER the election.

Ah well, at least I had a nice breakfast sandwich, and there’s a pot of smoked salmon chowder in the fridge for later. And hey! It’s grocery delivery day! Oh, the fun never stops around chez moi.

You two spend a lot of time ‘spiffing da cave’. You have wild parties there constantly? people setting down drinks without coasters? Walking on the carpet with shoes on? What?

Inquiring mind wants to know.

[teasing, in case that didn’t come through]

Awesome! All the hard part is over (I quit more or less 50 years ago and haven’t been tempted once I got past the first few weeks of what to do with my hands).

Must be the spiffiest cave in all of Jawjah.

Mine? Not so much, although I did spiff a bit yesterday.

Just got back from drivin’ around a bit - the sun is at 120% power. Came home with nine big pumpkins from a few locals who responded to my F.B. post. Each was delighted their squash was going to good use (“I was just gonna throw 'em away!”) and frankly, it was nice to spend a few moments in pleasant small talk with friendly faces.

{rubs hands} I’m gonna roast SO many seeds!

I also passed a local thrift place, and was glad to drop off my donation stuff with them instead of Goodwill. Plus, I poked around a bit, and bought a couple of paperbacks.

Now, I’m having a yogurt & contemplating what next.

Well, duh, clean and roast pumpkin seeds.
