I hoped somebody else would tell you, but I guess I have to.
I just read on facebook that Butters’ Hubby left this world last night.
I hoped somebody else would tell you, but I guess I have to.
I just read on facebook that Butters’ Hubby left this world last night.
Thank you for letting us know.
Went out and disconnected the RV battery for the winter. Plugged in my battery blanket and it promptly tripped the GFI, so that’s toast. Well, it lasted three winters, which is more than I’ve come to expect any of this China-built crap to last.
The citrus juicer attachment for my Kitchenaid food processor has also finally kicked the bucket after 27 years. Basically, the plastic has just fatigued to the point of having pieces chipping off and cracking. No replacement parts available after all these years, so a new stand-alone juicer is on the way, which I expect will last about as long as the battery blanket. I hate shopping for small appliances more than anything else, I think. The bad reviews are really horrible, and even good reviews tend to be of the “well, it doesn’t totally suck” genre. I’d just buy a new food processor, but like all the old Kitchenaid stuff, this one (except for the juicer part) still keeps on keepin’ on.
I am so sorry to hear this
Afternoon all. All the banking is done, Comforter is at the Dry Cleaners and the gas tank is full, so I am resting now awaiting soccer practice this evening (under the lights!!). Just bumped the heat up a couple more degrees because I can.
Bumba, thanks for the news about Butter’s hubby. I’m saddened to hear it, hope she’ll be OK.
Cookie, happy shopping, 27 years strikes me as a pretty good deal…3 years, not so much…
shoe, hope the punkin’ seeds helps with the wind-down.
All y’all take care now.
Oh, what terrible news. I’m so sorry, Butters.
I saw that this morning but I wasn’t sure about saying anything, not knowing if she’d post. Even tho it wasn’t unexpected, it’s still so sad.
Yes, I saw it earlier but didn’t know if it was appropriate to bring the news here.
Butters, know that we are all thinking of you.
So we had near gale force winds this morning, and the temp drop close to 20 degrees in 4 hours. I had soup for lunch.
That’s always been code for “it’s gonna run on for 4 more years.”

Congrats! And welcome to the club.
Think “Roman Orgy” but with Deviled Aigs and better fashion. ![]()

I sometimes think that travel is wasted on children. I was on the Empire Builder from Seattle to Chicago when I was 6. I also visited Banff at the same age. From the two different trips, I only remember sharing a club sandwich with my grandmother. She had ordered room service at the Lake Louise hotel.
I remember absolutely nothing of the train trip.
I’ve also visited many of the national parks in the western states, mostly when I was between the ages of 10 and 15. A few years ago my husband and I visited the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Glen Canyon and Hoover Dam. Definitely enjoyed it more the second time around.
Due to a doctor’s appointment I was in the big city (Luzern, population 82,000) today. Hasn’t changed as much as I had expected from the news reports, just more mask wearing. Still lots of people wandering around, and the bus wasn’t overly crowded like it normally would be at that time.
Sad to hear about Butter’s husband. Big change for her.
Well, damn. I’m so sorry to learn Butters lost her beloved husband. She’s been through such a hard time, and now she has a different sort of hard time ahead of her. If you read this, Butters, know you’re loved now and through whatever lies ahead.
It seems odd to talk about other things, but I will. Had a good night’s sleep last night. Today I’m going to have a good workout and go for a long walk. It’s sunny here AGAIN. It’s the rainy season, goldurnit! All right, fess up: who took our weather?
wetone, congrats! That’s a HUGE accomplishment, especially in these anxious times. I shall put on a hat so I can take it off for you.
boofae, how is it lockdown when you have bazillions of kids running amok? Well, OK, they’re not running amok, but they’re walking, congregating, traveling.
I think it’s only about once a week or so, but you know, spiffy guys need a spiffed cave. My mental image of Chez Swamp: clean, orderly, comfortable, and with the aroma of good food cooking. And two fabulous guys practicing the art of chillage.
nellie - except when one or the other fabulous guy is out on the front porch yelling at kids to get off the lawn!
Back from the credit union - the funds will be transferred to the dealership this evening and some time next week, FCD’s car should arrive. So we wait.
Supper will be tuna steak with whatever sides I decide to heat up. I didn’t accomplish nearly what I’d hoped to, but I’m retired, so who cares!
So sorry to hear of butters’ hubby’s passing. I was going to come here and bitch about my job, but I think I’ll put that off.

Howdy Y’all! Da cave is spiffed, sup is et and life is good.
I read Butter’s post on the book of faces about her husband. I know she’ll appreciate all the condolences both here and there. Even expected such things are still a shock and a great loss.
Boo we usually spiff da cave on Moanday. When I retired, I decided a once a week clean up must occur and started that on Moanday. Let’s just say we shovel the place out, knock off a layer of dust, run the vacuum and somewhat sanitize the bathrooms and kitchen. Just our way of makin’ sure the health department does not show up. The nonuse of coasters will cause a stern look and a lecture on how to take proper care of one’s things.
MOOOOOOM the hardest part for me when OYKW retired was lettin’ him take a turn yellin’ at the dang whippersnappers. It’s been an adjustment!
shoe yay on your punkin seed score. May you spend many happy hours roastin’ away.
Cookie I hear ya about the Kitchenaid stuff. A friend is still usin’ the one her mother got as a weddin’ gift in 1947!
wetone Happy NonSmokeaversary!
Nellie clean and comfy yes. However we prefer chaos and mayhem over orderly.
Wheelie always feel free to bitch about irk. That is one of the mainstays of the MMP.
Mooooooom, I do that on my space bar on a regular basis.
Yay on the smoke out anniversary wet one !
{{{butters}}} Know that I’m thinking of you.
Irked, came home. It’s nice going in in the daylight again, but I’m not home long before darkness my old friend comes to see me again.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Yes, I saw it earlier but didn’t know if it was appropriate to bring the news here.
Butters, know that we are all thinking of you.
I didn’t know if it was appropriate either, but I was raised by wolves and don’t understand societal norms very well at the best of times. I just figgered she wouldn’t be posting any time soon and y’all would want to know. If I was wrong to do so, just whack me. I can take it.
That’s always been code for “it’s gonna run on for 4 more years.”
Lord help us, NO!
If I was wrong to do so, just whack me.
I don’t at all think you did anything wrong. If I was in her place, I would not be miffed & would be grateful you spared me having to take on the task myself.
A friend of mine quilted me a beayoooooteeeeful wall hanging, or mini lap blanket, I guess. It arrived this afternoon and I’m looking forward to hanging it - just have to decide where.
I have a dowel I may specially paint (in bright purple, naturally) to add to the effect. It’s multicolored, and incredibly detailed, lovely on both sides but different, so I get two-fer-one, and I’m touched beyond belief.
Wow, I ate breakfast AND two (smallish) lunches, and also have dinner going. Woot!
Sup shall be snausage coins roasted with N.O.T. and onions’n’garlic. It’s already in the oven now.
Based on this:

Oven Roasted Smoked Sausage and Potatoes - an easy sheet pan meal with smoked sausage (my fav), potatoes, and onions - your whole family will love!
Est. reading time: 5 minutes
Oh, I forgot - if I get really ambitious tonight, or maybe some evening soon, I have been wanting to make crunchy roasted chickpeas.
Good excuse to run to oven on a chilly evening (the wind is howling!) and they sound delicious.
Okay, chillage is ensuing, and I must call my friend to thank her.
Have a good night, one & all!
Evening all. Soccer has been practiced, kept the kids moving tonight because it was 54F when we started and 47F when we finished… Bought a Butterburger and fries for my evening repast, and am trying to warm up now.
Bumba, I think you did the right thing, Butters has a lot to work through and having someone let here friends here know was a kind thing, IMHO.
Dice, know what you mean, my parents took me and younger brother to Niagara Falls when we were little and all I recall is that the hamburgers tasted funny in Canada…
Ok, feeling sufficiently toasty now. All y’all take care.
