Grab a leaf rake in the MMP!

Agreed, and actually we do have backups. The coffeemaker in the RV, an old fashioned drip version, and even a metal percolator type (for camp stoves). We just decided to replace it, and accepted the delay. I was (sorta) exaggerating the seriousness for MMP fun. I offered to either dust off the drip machine or grab the one from the RV, but the decision was to replace.

Sorry if it sounded more serious than it really was – the histrionics were mostly for fun.

Edited to add: I keep forgetting we now have a Starbucks nearby. I just never use it and forget it’s there.

I was spared the trip to motor vehicles. Turns out FCD didn’t have all the paperwork he needed this morning (I half expected as much) so they had to come here to get it all. Fortunately, they were able to make appointments for this afternoon, and that’s where they are now. So I’m mostly being lazy, because I can, hoping he’ll be home within an hour.

*Ugh* Suddenly I have a meeting.

I think I’m the one who was too serious - I really enjoyed the story of the (coffee) knight riding to the rescue!

The weather types say that after today we’ll be back to more fall-like weather, but I was able to luncheon on the patio: in the sun, 68°F was quite pleasant. For some reason, though, Bailey wasn’t interested in staying out in the yard for more than 15-20 minutes – and, shortly after I let her inside two bees ambled over and took a keen interest in the apple slices I was eating. So, patio time didn’t last very long.

This morning I stumbled upon – and inadvertently contributed to – some family drama on Nextdoor. Someone posted music lesson services, and the wording of their post made it sound like they were claiming to have been the session musician on a popular '70s song. They weren’t, but the person who commented to point that out was super snarky about it. A quick Google search confirmed that the OP had been in that band at one point, though, so I replied to the comment with something along those lines plus “maybe they didn’t mean to make that claim and just aren’t good at writing (like many musicians)?” Within minutes the commenter replies with over-the-top vitriol aimed at both the OP and me, talking about statements the guy makes on his website and asking me to provide my Google search results to back up my claims ( ) – and, at the same time, the OP sends me a PM saying that the commenter is his son who is fighting with him about their sick wife/mom! Oy vey!! I think they’re both nuts, actually: the OP quickly sent me a second PM asking me to email him. Like I’m gonna wade any further into their crap! Keep that bulls*** off Nextdoor, fer og’s sake!!

Tomorrow I’ll be going to my office for the first time in months, because my program is moving to another part of our building and I have to clear out my current space. This will be my 5th desk in less than three years, and my 4th desk since the pandemic started. Heh. Our new area includes only one actual office, which is reserved for the program manager, so I’ll be back to having a cubicle – but I get to pick the one I want (except the one our admin has claimed). So does the other manager who has an office. We have to be out of the current space by the end of this week, and we’re both going in tomorrow to move our stuff. Based solely on a PDF of the floorplan, I have my eye on a certain back corner cubicle: I’m hoping to arrive well before my colleague tomorrow, just in case we both like that one. I expect to have to bring some stuff home due to space limitations, so I’ll be taking an empty tote bag or two.

All other things being equal, 295 is 10 minutes out of the way (it’s farther east than I need to go). But I’m also not a big parkway fan: the speed limit is lower, there are fewer lanes, and people tend to drive more leisurely. For me, it’s often a somewhat frustrating drive. There usually isn’t much trouble on 95, though; 495 tends to be the brat.

(But I always check Google Maps before I head north, just in case!)

Funny: my experience has been that if a man is looking for sex, unless he looks like Idris Elba he’ll take whatever he can get! And some will do anything – including fixing things and cooking (i.e., pretending to actually be interested) – to get/keep getting it! So I think it’s legit for your friend to have wondered about that.

(Disclaimer: All generalities, of course! And women are definitely not above similar behavior. In fact, I think we’re way more likely to be picky about age/looks if we’re just after a little slap-and-tickle.)

Thoughts and prayers…

I enjoyed it too.

I mostly laughed at myself~mentally I soothingly reassured myself “it’s ok-you have a Keurig still in the box, a Chemex pour over, a toddy maker, at least two French presses, a penguin expresso pot, a Corningware stovetop percolator and a aluminum percolator-we’ll be ok”.

I’m pretty sure that in my household I have carried coffee redundancy further than any other essential~heck, even for my oxygen I only have two sources, unlike my umpty eleven ways to make coffee. Methinks I detect a theme about myself here…coffee is more important than air.

Yep, that fits.

Is THAT what the kids were calling it decades ago?

Not quite decadeS.

I can’t match you when it comes to back up caffeine delivery systems, but I did double check the pantry to be sure we still had some bottled coffee in case of power outages. We would be just fine, but some caffeine before braving the storage shed would be needed.

We also had a horrific thing happen in the Doe household. Hubs forgot to close the door while he was peeing. GG was running around with his furball in his mouth when he heard water running and went to see what was happening. It was so exciting that GG had to stick his head in the toilet to see better, hubs couldn’t stop midstream so GG got peed on and he dropped his ball in the toilet.

GG got a bath, hubs has bandages on his inner thigh and the ball got flushed. Hubs is heading to town for a few more furballs. I couldn’t go with him, I needed him gone so I could laugh my ass off over the whole thing.

ETA Obviously I do not know how to post a link where I want the vid to start. Codex mentions “a little tank and spank” in the middle of the song.

Hell, I’m laughing my ass off over it here in far off, obscure Nebraska!

i was wondering about the bandages lol

Ive been either preparing to or actually spraying (using some stuff I don’t think civilians are supposed to be using to spray for critters … while I sprayed last night I’ve been informed I was doing it too slow and wrongly …

And now everyone who months ago wanted to help us get a house (even tho we didn’t quite get enough to get one) are now dragging their feet and finding any and all excuses …of course the money we were gifted ended up being used like we knew it would if we had it too long …

It’s a chilly day in Lake Wobegon, MN. Well, the closest lake is Bde Maka Ska, the lake previously known as Lake of the Isles, but Wobegon is funnier. I awoke aware that I had pretty much slept through the night without the stabbing pains in my knee. Then I remembered that at some point during the night, I felt something pop back into place, which may explain it. Did exercise class without a lot of trouble, but the problem is still there and is still going to require a visit to the MD.

Went and watched a video of Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring”, which is pretty wild. There’s going to be a discussion on it tomorrow. Then headed over to Costco for some necessities (bacon) and non-necessities (giant jug of cashews). I’m very proud of myself for eschewing the sweet stuff.

It’s been quiet at Walking Dead Manor today, other than some ominous grumbling about the broken washing machines. I’m hoping for a full-scale, cane-waving riot. “NO RINSE, NO PEACE!” Management is promising some new industrial-grade machines, but no delivery window as yet. Meanwhile, we have a mountain of laundry and may have to venture out to a laundromat.

The meating was boring. Only the first several minutes applied to me. Made me late for my walk.

I saw the back of my car when I started walking up the hill. I thought, ‘Man, those reflectors are really bright!’ As I thought that, I realised the Spousal Unit was moving my car back into the driveway and I was seeing the brake lights.

Have not read but will. Boy what a week I had last week. First a bank error removed 5 figures from my savings account then hit me with a $175 stop fee. Oh, hell naw. It was was a clerk error of one digit on bank accounts and I had a nice email exchange about the $175. Since I did attempt to stop payment they gave me some shit but I wrote that I needed to hear a human voice tell me they were going to charge me for their mistake. I did get the phone call amd all my money back. Needless to say I shall be looking for another bank.

I ordered food from Walmart and was charged for all of it yet received only 15 of 31 items. Took an act of God to get that sorted.

Got a slow leak in one tire and since I never go anywhere my battery died. Dead. So had to buy a battery. Got a lecture from my Sonny boy that resulted in me telling him to GTFO. The battery was four years old and I should have driven it more but I’ve had batteries die with daily use.

Anyway. that was my week. I hope this one is better. Hugs or all that need them.

Dang, ButteryCup you’ve been fighting one helluva gauntlet.

Yeah, money has a funny way of getting spent like that. There’s always something.

My week started off well – sold some old //.agic cards (sealed decks and booster packs from 1997-98) to the local gaming shop for $1400. I suspect it’s all going to be downhill from there, alas.

Afternoon all. Everything on my list this morning is done except for soccer, and that’s about an hour from now. Bought a large already-made Salad a Kroger for tonight, might be enough to finish off for tomorrow’s first meal, we’ll see how hungry I am post-soccer. Bought some Gift Cards for the boys (and my assistant coaches) at Dick’s Sporting goods, so those will get handed out next week. And I also announced the great Shave The Coach’s Beard Off for this Saturday…usually shave it off about this time of year anyway and letting the kids do it is fun both for me and them (as long as none of the kids are named Sweeny Todd–can’t get that music out of my head since Angela Lansbury died).

I don’t drink coffee, never have and probably never will, so I don’t understand the addiction to it, but glad you could save the day, yankers. You and JtC with your stories made me smile. Thank you.

Sari, sounds like the Nieces turned out to be decent folks despite Mom and Grandmom. Suspect you had a little to do with it. Take care.

Cookie, hope there isn’t anything serious with the knee.

Butters, banks can sometimes be as bad as Government offices; glad you got things straight. And batteries do die; I have a gage on my on-board computer that keeps an eye on it.

OK, need to change to soccer stuff and be off. Take care all.

Opposite for me, since I go thru the Harbor Tunnel and pick up 95 of the other side. My mom lives in Harford County - off 95 just before BelAir. More than you want to know, no doubt!

In-laws have taken care of their MD IDs - they’ll get them in the mail next week or so. FCD is burned out - they’ve been here just over a week and he’s dealt with them nearly every day. With luck, that will taper off and we can return to a more normal life here, with only occasional visits.

Meanwhile, MIL’s VISA has been rejected a couple of times. I don’t think VISA will talk to us about it, so we’ll need to get her on the phone while with FCD on his computer. Something else we didn’t need. Dammit.

I did get some yard-tidying done. I hacked back the native clematis that had taken over my back porch, and I deadheaded some hostas. Then I walked around the outside of FCD’s shop and pulled up all the tree seedlings that had sprouted among the rocks. The yard still needs lots of work, but this was a start.

Supper was good. Time for chillage.

Typo? Or a new phrase for IRL meetings. If so, I congratulate you on the perfect terminology.

doggio, hand egg wasn’t totally boring this weekend. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry about the date shoe. I’ve pretty much given up online dating anymore. Like someone else said, what ain’t fruits and nuts is flakes.

VanGo, of five sibs, one that I was close to has been gone for 20+ years, I still have a sister with whom I’m close (she was just here this weekend), two sibs who I no longer have much in common and one sister who is a narcissistic jackass. At least I got two good ones.

Yay on your son’s learner permit sari! I know that you’ve been waiting for a long time.

Like others, I have multiple ways of making coffee yank. I even have several ways to make tea if I run out of milk for coffee.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. I think fall is here, given that there were small dog warnings out this afternoon and a freeze warning is slated for later in the week. That’s the earliest since I moved here in 1995.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

This is MMP, where faux typos are expected.
