Grab a leaf rake in the MMP!

I meant to address the leaf thing in my previous post: the lawn company collects and vacuums my leaves 2-3 times a season (as needed). There are lots of big trees in the back yard, so I wind up with lots of leaves. The lawn company is totally worth every penny, every time.

Wait, you mean that isn’t what it’s called anymore?!?

Reading along with that made me laugh out loud, which startled the dog. Worth it.

Holy moly. :people_hugging:

LOL! My dad lives in Catonsville; about as far west as you can get and still be inside 695.

Howdy Y’all! We’re home from men’s night over to the church house. A good time was had by all, and, as usual, we solved all the world’s problems. Also, per usual, nobody listens to us.

Yanker glad you did not have to be coffeeless this mornin’. :coffee: I, too, have backups in case the Keurig fails. OYKW is not a coffee drinker, but he does not want me to be without out of fear of havin’ to deal with my angst at bein’ coffeeless.

JtC poor GG! Glad he got him some new fur balls.

red I mean. it it’s only once every fifteen years, then I guess it’s OK for Vols fans to tear down goalposts and dump 'em in the river. Better than last year when they threw trash.

I’m tired, even though I didn’t do much.
I did fall asleep for a while, that seems to happy a lot lately when I sit still.

I called the grocery store and they thanked me. Said it was their mistake, so I guess that means I don’t have to pay anything. The manager was concerned about how it happened, and thanked me for bringing it to his attention.

I did message the daughter of my ‘dead’ friend request and haven’t heard anything back.

Poor GG, you had me laughing though.

I don’t like coffee, so I can’t understand the angst over coffee pots breaking.

I need to load the disheasher and water the plants before heading off to bed.

I had a coffee in the morning, and a Lipton iced tea in the afternoon.

Still having issues with possible undiagnosed sleep apnea. Tired most of the time. Hard to find time to do things. Well, I should get back to work.

The Guardians-Yankees game — the one that will decide which team goes to the ALCS— was supposed to start at 7:07pm ET but has been in a rain delay for the past couple of hours. They keep continuing the delay instead of postponing the game. I understand, because the ALCS is supposed to start on Wednesday, but I need to get up a little early (for the whole office move thing) and at this point if they play tonight I’m not going to be able to watch the game. :sob:

(Top that for mundane and pointless!)

I had SUCH a good time with my son (and dogs. I love my DIL dearly, but when she’s with us, she and I chatter like magpies, and my son gets much quieter, plus it’s just nice to have him all to myself. The dogs always make me laugh. One of them can’t have many treats because of, er, gastric disturbances, and she loves treats, so when she gets one, she somehow snaps it into her mouth from six inches away. The other (the one in the photo I posted last time) can have all the treats she wants, but when you hold one out, she sniffs and considers, then takes it reluctantly and sets it on the floor. Life is not fair. She did that today, and the other dog said, “Are you freakin’ kidding me?” and snarfed it before you could say, “Hoover sucks!”

They’re good chums, though.

I went to the gym to burn off the cupcake I had for dessert. (I was only going to have half, but suddenly it was gone, and I can never joke about the snarfy dog again.)

Sari, a big YAAAAAY on your son getting his learners permit, and here’s hoping he feels better about it as time goes by. So he doesn’t have to take drivers ed, but he still needs to get in 14 hours behind the wheel? Do I have that right? Also, I can only imagine how exhausted you are if you keep falling asleep when you sit down.

I’ve had this fantasy for years. (No, not that kind of fantasy. Hearing about that kind’ll cost you $9.95 for the first three minutes.) I buy a huge house on the ocean and open it to people who, like Sari, are exhausted. Maybe, like her, they’re overburdened, or they just had a baby, or they’re barely well after being ill. They get plenty of good food (including pasta because it has magical curative powers), fresh fruit, salads, and a glass or three of wine every day. They get to rest as much as they like. Walks on the beach are encouraged but not required. They can eat in the dining room and laugh a lot or get served in bed. When they’re all rested, they go home with a hug and a goodie bag. Isn’t that a nice daydream?

JtC, that’s the funniest cat story ever! I can’t wait to share it with my daughter…and everyone else I know. Hell, I’ll share it with strangers. I’ll be giggling as I lie in bed tonight, so thank you!

@EmilyG, so glad you popped in! I sure hope you get a diagnosis soon. It sucks to be tired all the time .

Are you working a paying job? If so, that means things are getting better for you  I do hope things are going well and will get better once you get your sleep sorted.

GG clipped hubs with a back claw when he was rudely grabbed up. It was an accident, but hubs has paper thin skin and his blood thinners means a little tiny scratch that you or I wouldn’t even notice bleeds long and fast.

This isn’t the first time GG has gotten stuff on his fur that shouldn’t be ingested, we have a routine for bathing him. We wipe or pick as much of the ick out as possible, then GG gets locked in the catio, I run very warm water in our garden tub while changing into my bathing suit and covering the floor with towels. GG gets put into the tub and happily swims laps and splashes around. He isn’t a big fan of getting his face washed with a soapy washcloth so I wait until I think he’s getting cold, wash his face really fast, push his head under the water real quick to rinse off the soap then grab him up and wrap him up in towels and rub him as dry as possible then take him into the already heated back room so I can brush him dry.

He really likes soap-less baths in the middle of a heat wave because then I don’t mess with all the face washing or drying stuff, I lock him outside again and let him air dry in the triple digit heat.

Sigh. I know how that goes.

That sucks. Do you have any laundromat wash and fluff places close? That’s what they are called here, they will wash your clothes and fold them, no ironing or coat hangers unless you want to pay more. I used the one in town when our front loader failed loudly and spectacularly and it was worth the money to not have to spend hours sitting in the sauna while watching machines chug.

You deserve EXTRA chocolate!!!

I wouldn’t say that hubs spoils the lil monster, but he did go 90 miles just to be sure that GG had fur balls to play with today instead of waiting until we went tomorrow for weekly chores and Mexican supper and fancy pants Margaritas.

Speaking of kitty toys, it is the middle of October. Does anything think it is too early for me to start the Secret Santa? Does anyone here want to do it instead? (So far, everyone I’ve been paired up with has had cats. The fur balls seem to be very popular kitty toys and would be an easy thing to put into the package.)

Of course a person as wonderful as you would have beautiful day dreams like that.

I’m glad you had such a good day with your son. I enjoy visiting with Mom and my sisters, but I really like having Mom to myself when we can just sit in comfortable silence and stitch.

Emily!!! No tacklehugs but it is always good to see you around the MMP.

OK, soccer has been practiced, I taught the boys the forbidden art of the headball (heading is not allowed in AYSO until the U14 age group to prevent possible concussions) and brought some stuff I’ve picked up around the world in my travels to show the kids and let them guess where it was from, so I think they left happy. Saturday will be the Great Beard Shaving, so need to get some before and after pics.

Supposed to be near freezingtonight, we’ll see how well the house holds heat but I think the Gas bill will start climbing here real soon.

JtC (by the way, what ever happened to that lowlife wife-beater you whacked?), GG sounds a little more patient with bathing that most cats. Hope husband-unit has staunched the bleeding.

FCM, maybe set a certain date(s) and time(s) you visit them, something regular is better IMHO for both sides and something they can look forward too. But expect the calls to come as their health deteriorates…(I know, preaching to the converted).

Oopsie, guess we have to wait for tomorrow for the baseball game.

nellie, glad you had a great day with the sons and dogs. And I’d help run your place on the ocean if you needed the help. Most of us coudl use a rest now and then (even most vacations can be frantic).

OK, back to internettin’. All y’all take care.

The wheels of justice spin slowly. She moved out of the state so is no longer in immanent danger. He went to court ordered anger management classes before his hearing but they must not have worked because he walked into court by himself and was walked out in cuffs. He is currently in the county jail for contempt of court. This is still an open case and we really don’t have any legal involvement so will have to wait until everything is settled before we can get all the juicy details.

Except for the part about GG being not so smart, he is a typical Maine Coon. They tend to like playing with water, his fountain is in the catio because we couldn’t stop him from sitting next to it and scooping all the water out with his paw.

When it’s hot out and I let him play in the tub, he gets all frisky and silly when we put him in the catio. He shakes himself good then races up and down the tall scratching tree, then climbs the lattice for a while. We can tell he feels good!

I’m posting now again because I’m at a really scary place in the piece I have been working all year. I’m going to be starting the last interwoven ribbon in my piece and if I miscounted somewhere, now is when I’m going to find out. I’m really sure I have the main counts and edges right, but this is still scary enough that I needed a little break before continuing.

Up from naptime., and time for late night hockey(#CanesAfterDark). We had a thunderstorm through here earlier.

:open_mouth:100
< faints dead away >

SO SAY WE ALL!- dogbutler, who has a percolator, and a hand grinder so he can have coffee in case of power falure/apcalypse.

Congrats to SahSon!

[Narrator]At that moment, flyboy felt the full power of this fully operational Monday…[/Narrator]

I think you need one more. {{{{Butters}}}}

Thanks for checking in. And I hope thye can diagnose something, so you can sleep well.

We have a small propane camp stove, along with several propane tanks in the storage shed. That will work to allow us to make coffee in our percolator.

I am NOT going to be able to sleep due to wondering what you meant to say to me, but I do agree with the congrats to SahSon. That is a big step.

We were once out on a ride and came across a slow vehicle with a sign that said “STUDENT DRIVER- please pray for me”. We were most considerate while passing the car because we had fair warning that if we startled the driver bad things could happen.

"LOL  " missed typing it before I hit send.

@EmilyG Consider yourself not tacklehugged again~lovely to hear from you!

Yep, that is pure @nelliebly

May I help too? I’m good at baking cupcakes, brownies, cookies, pies and muffins and terrific at making beds with cool, smooth sheets and square corners.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 62 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. We have a coolin’ trend over the next few days, thus I have decided that today I will make a big pot of veggie/beef soup. Like MOOOOOOM I do not follow a recipe, but, the soup always turns out nummy. The other item on today’s agenda is laundry. Be still my beatin’ heart! The usual sloth and general overall uselessness shall be managed, as well.

sari yay for sahson gettin’ his permit. It’s a huge step for him. Now, onward to gettin’ his DL!

Nellie glad you had a good visit with your son and the grand dawgs.

{{{MG}}} glad you stopped by! Hope you get the sleep situation settled soonest. If my befuddled mind recalls correctly, I have seen over on the book of faces where you have been workin’ on and sellin’ some of your musical compositions, right?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Oh, yeah, like that’ll happen!!

My daughter’s second-in-command has a sticker on his car that says : Caution - Student Driver and Screaming Parent - cracks me up, especially since I can’t see him screaming. He seems to be a really mellow dude.

Bad night - I kept waking up, twice for potty, then a few times worrying about the time. FCD is taking his dad to the dentist today for an 8AM appointment, but it takes hours to get him up and dressed in the morning. So the dutiful son drove over there in the dark of the morning to help get his dad ready to go. FIL was really out of it yesterday, having gotten up during the night and fallen in the living room and hit his head. When MIL found him and asked why he didn’t call her, he said “My other wife told me it’d be OK.”

Gut tells me he may be close to the end… FCD thinks the same.

He’ll be dealing with them a fair bit today - their VISA has been declined and we can’t get to the account on line for some reason. I’ll be wrangling the rookie toddler, but I’m not sure if we’ll do the playground this afternoon or not. Today isn’t supposed to get out of the 50s. I may just take them home and wait for their mom. We shall see.

Meanwhile, caffeination continues. Happy Tuesday!!

You would make a great neighbor because you and your rad machine could quickly make LARGE leaf piles for my leaf fights! Leaf fights are one of THE fun things to do outside in the fall.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 47 degrees with an expected high of 70, sunny skies, and smoke. Rah.

Butters, wow, what an incredibly bad week. Take care of yourself.

nellie, I’m so glad you enjoyed your visit with your son and his pups. I love your dream. I would go there!

JtC, silly kitty!

sari, I’m glad your son got his permit! May his license follow quicky! I know it’s been a long road to get him to this stage.

The crud I managed to come down with last week is still hanging on and yesterday was a bad day. I had thought that by yesterday I would be feeling fairly close back to normal. I slothed like a champion this weekend to ensure that happened and the most strenuous thing I did was laundry! Alas, after I stepped out of the shower yesterday, I instantly broke out into a sweat, felt super nauseous, and had bile racing up into my throat. I had to lie down on the floor for a bit, but even that didn’t make me feel better, and in fact, I had to eject stuff. I emailed in sick, and went back to bed, and slept until 10:00 am. Still, the crud hangs on, but today, it’s just sinus stuff. I tested myself to make sure I don’t have the 'rona, and the test was negative. So, it’s just a garden variety crud, but I guess I’m paying for having evaded a cold or whatever I have for this long.

I also have alternate means of making coffee; french press, Chemex, and camping percolator, in addition to the Keurig, but none of those do me any good when I don’t have coffee beans. I’m out again and need to get down to the roaster.

I suppose I should finish my coffee and get on with the day. I hope you all have a good one.

Morning all. Woke to a balmy 34F this morning and the house is sufficiently chilly enough for me to turn the space heater on (still holding out on putting the full heat on). Will get warmer as the week goes on but the next couple of days will be chilly.

Not much on the list today, need to empty out the dishwasher and do my bike pedaling at the gym, with soccer coaching tonight. Might even do a little housework…as little as possible. My phone line is dead, have double-checked to make sure all the phones are properly hung up and connected, so will check the Modem and then Chat with the provider.

Taters, hope you get feeling better soon.

FCM, 8am for an appointment of any type is pretty early; hope it all works out.

JtC, so guy represents himself and ends up in jail; guess the old line about having a fool for a client really does apply. And fingers crossed that all the stitches are where they need to be.

OK, need to find sustenance and brave the Chat line to get my phone fixed. All y’all take care.

Took off at about 05:10 for the long trip to irk. About a mile down the narrow two-lane road, a deer crossed. I had a feeling, and took my foot off the gas. Sure enough, there was another deer on the left that looked at me and started sauntering across. I slammed on my (anti-lock) brakes and missed it by inches. I don’t know if it was dust or smoke, but a cloud of something came up behind me.

Why do they DO that? “Oh, looky, a loud, stinky, dangerous human thing. Now seems like the perfect time to wander in front of it!”
Squirrels, turkeys (up north) and armadillos (down south) all same.
