And a late-morning update. Pest Control guy came around to check on things, still not buggy in the house, then got my week’s worth of Red Delicious apples at Kroger and a Jersey Mike’s #3, so stomach is well taken care of. Cloudy but no rain predicted and the sun may make an appearance this afternoon.
I had to google that, had never (to the best of my memory, such as it is) heard that term before…but I love it.
52. hope the Airpods work after being caterized…
doggio, only the X-rays will be introduced to my precious bodily fluids…
Pavo, talk to shoe, maybe they are hiring for the summer…
Coppertone, hard choice on the toenail, long painful healing or a consistent but delayed issue. Your call.
{{Taters}}, hugs for the bad dreams.
shoe, most of my liquid nourishment is Diet Pepsi, with some milk, soup and water in the mix. And glad the funk is going away.
FCM, nice to meet the nautical neighbors.
Cookie, hope wife listens to you, like you say dizziness can be due to so many thing, best to get them checked out now.
And need to get the swimming suit on, pack the gym bag for the weight training, and spend the early afternoon getting in shape after the big Sunday calorie blowout.
I had something similar last week. First I was driving and was being chased then all of a sudden I was on a bicycle being chased toward a cliff. That’s when I woke up. I tried to remember what/who was chasing me and how I got from a car to a bicycle but nada.
I was going to be walking outside for 2/3 mile with overcast skies and a bit of wind. I was warm. But was overdressed for office so took off jacket and sweatshirt.
FCM Tuesday potlucks sound like fun. Hope you have a great weather Tuesday soon.
I thought you were going to have to wait until it was pooped out. Glad it was just in the cat’s mouth.
The new/old lawn guy was here a short time ago. He’s the old guy because he mowed the lawn the last 2 years but he had told Hubs several months ago that he wasn’t going to do lawn jobs this year. So Hubs hired some college kids several weeks ago and first they barely cut the grass; left it so long it looked like it hadn’t been cut. Then the worst thing was that they weedwacked my chives and some of the garlic to the freaking ground. I was so upset when I saw that, that I marched in and told Hubs to contact them tootsweet and tell them that their services were not only no longer required but that they had committed a grave sin. (And these are kids that had gone to Divine Child Catholic HS). They apologized and asked for another chance but Hubs knew better than to give them one. And luckily, guy from the past 2 years actually called up Hubs a day or two later and said that he was going to do a few lawn jobs this year and he’d be happy to do ours. He also shared that the people kittycorner from us had stiffed him for a week or two so they were off the list and his next door neighbor had given him some grief about something so he was off the list. It pays to treat your service people well. They have the luxury of serving you or saying Nuh-uh.
I need to go out and spread crabgrass/weed killer on the back yard now so ta-ta for now.
Hi. Just had our handyman come out to give us an estimate on the basement. This will be a let’s make the basement waterproof, but not in such an ostentatious sort of way. I told him that I needed it to be better but not perfect looking.
I am so lucky that while my cats get into everything, they don’t generally try to eat non-food items. The damage on the AirPods seems to have been caused by them being knocked into things and there are no tooth marks.
I went to bed at a decent time, but for some reason, I woke up at midnight really nauseated. By the time the situation had resolved itself (she said delicately), it was after 3 a.m.. I woke up at 6:30, so not a lot of sleep, but at least my stomach isn’t complaining.
I have a question for pilot. My sister and I were talking about a flight my young son and I took years back from San Diego to Salt Lake City, where we had a tight connection. The pilot came on the intercom and said, “Those of you sitting on the left side of the aircraft have a nice view of the magnificent Grand Canyon.” Then a few minutes later, “That was such a spectacular view, we’re going back so those on the right side of the aircraft can see it.” Me: Nooooo! We barely made our connecting flight, and there was no time to use the bathroom. Did I mention I was 5 months pregnant at the time?
Do pilots get in trouble for things like that? It couldn’t have been in the flight plan, but I assume ATC OK’d it. If not, would the fuel used alert anyone?
B-b-but my attitude toward fucking is pretty good. I’m mean, I’m all in favor. And I’ve already been fixed, so I’m good, right?
She obviously didn’t want to be the odd one out. That must have been scary for your parents.
Do you have a carrier bag or something to put some of the stuff you won’t need for the walk home, or is it supposed to stay chilly?
Dream me would have given dream you a comforting hug, had she known. My mother used to say nightmares “give your brain a good cleaning out.” I hope you have sweet, pleasant dreams tonight.
This means nothing, of course, but the two people I know who had vertigo both had some kind of calcium crystals shift in the ear from wherever they’re supposed to be to the semicircular canal. One was my brother. His doc sent him to PT, where the therapist put him in a certain position and do a certain movement, and bam, no more dizzies. I hope your wife listens to you and that there’s a quick and easy fix.
I am stealing this phrase. Love it!
I noticed your self-control and refinement in not making the obvious rod joke.
I did, too. It must have been a bad moon risin’. Mine was like a The Best of the Bad Dreams medley. My daughter was seven again, and it was 1 a.m. and she was still awake when I realized her hair was filthy and had to get washed. Then it was morning, and I was very late to work and hadn’t called to get someone to take my class, plus my now-ex was still my husband, and he announced we were leaving NOW to drive to Minnesota to my stepson’s house (who lives in MO in real life), then told me to stay home, as he was taking one of his mistresses. All that was missing was a tornado and me showing up to school in my undies.
We had some rain this morning when I walked Nelson. Not enough to suit up, but enough to take the shorter walk route.
Got the adultin’ done this morning and will check up on the results when I go to PT tomorrow (forms the ortho was supposed to fill out). I’m also almost finished with the bookmarks. Any Mumper who wants a couple, PM me and I’ll send them (they all involve green in them, since those were the scraps that I was concentrating on).
Howdy Y’all! The bug guy did his thing and I made sup. Outside of that high RDOS inactivities prevailed. In honor of the day we day drank margaritas out by the cee-mint pond whilst munchin’ on salsa and tortilla chips. Life is a mad whirlwind here at da cave!
Especially since she was their second child. And I was only 15 months old. And we were living with Dad’s parents. Yeah, just a tad stressful.
We had a dishwasher scare this evening. I opened it to load our supper dishes, and the bottom was full of water. We tried cleaning it by hand, then dumping baking soda and vinegar in it to soak, but it still wouldn’t drain. I washed 2 days worth of dishes by hand, then started looking on Lowes website at dishwashers. Has the tariff affected prices yet? If not, choke-gasp-wheeze…
Then, for some reason, I decided to look on the website about the disposal and discovered that FCD didn’t knock out the knock-out where the dishwasher hose connected. Fifteen minutes of fussing and all was good. So huzzah! And I gotta say, this is a pretty amazing dishwasher.
It’s a GE lower-range model that we installed in November 2004. It’s still working, now that it can drain. So, again, huzzah!!
I’m hearing thunderboomers. Not sure if the rain will hit us, but we shall see. And I saw 2 black cats on my driveway a bit ago - I don’t know why, but our yard attracts cats. There was a mom-cat who had a littler of 4 in our yard a few years back (she took them and ran when I tried to catch them.) there was a gray-and-white one who hung out in our garage till I found her half-paralyzed and took her to the vet to be put down. There was another gray and white (offspring of the late Charley?) who was hanging around FCD’s shop. And now these 2. Is there some secret cat sign on our property??
Oh, and last night, there were owls making some gawd-awful noises somewhere in the vicinity. I thought about trying to record it, but by the time I could get my phone, they’d have stopped. But it was not happy sounds - do owls fight over territory?
Anyway, dishes are done and I think I’ll fix me an apple with peanut butter for my evening snack. Till tomorrow…
Finished the last lessons of the semester, which is nice. One of my most talented students, who’s been with me for for years (since her freshman year) has her last lesson, which is sad. She’s around for the summer and may take some private lessons, so that’s nice.
Hey guys. I got some pretty angering news* when I went to the gym today, so I went to the capital and stomped around for four hours and came home and rage cleaned. Our cleaners do a decent job, but they miss stuff and the windows needed some serious attention. It was time to wash all of the throws and cat beds so that happened as well. Hubs and the fuzzbutts retreated to the safety of his room and hid until I told them it was safe.
Then I opened my bowl (wow about the fast shipping) and would take a pic to share, but my phone is somewhere that is not in the same room as me. (I think its in the car, hubs tracker says that it is at this address so we know I didn’t lose it.)
*I’m sure I’ve mentioned the swim instructor who teaches children to swim in the past. I see her every time I’m at the gym and she usually has a child in the water. When she’s not teaching children to swim for 10 bucks a half hour or two children are 15 bucks for an hour (they get individual lessons), she is a lifeguard.
She was funded by a small federal program designed to promote water safety in flood prone areas. Well, that was cut. Coal miner’s kids don’t need to know how to swim, they just need to know how to swing a hammer.
The lifeguard positions are part time, min wage and Robin can’t afford to work there anymore and is going to retire and move NC to be closer to her kids and grands.
So now I’m all pissed off again and am going to go offline and do other things for a while.
I used to meet lots of people, often in groups of 4 or 6 and I really struggled with that. One thing I learned to do is be sure to say their names to them a couple times right away. And as soon as I can get away from them, put a contact in my phone for “Mike and Tamara Boatneighbor”. Next time I’m arriving at the marina and see them fiddling I can just search for “boat” and there they are. Now I can walk up all smiles and say e.g. “Hi Mike!”.
I do something similar for the many people I meet & greet briefly in our elevators at home. If we interact enough times I build up quite a dossier and meanwhile they think I’m a wizard at caring about and remembering casual acquaintances.
I’m not, but my phone is.
That was a long time ago, and things did not used to be quite so rigid. So darn hard to say what really happened. Nowadays an actual unplanned double reversal like that would be call for fighter “escorts”, and a prompt firing after a brief, but fair, investigation.
The Grand Canyon is quite long and rather serpentine. If the “few minutes” was shorter than you remember, that may have been a jokey way of saying “We’re flying sorta diagonally across it without changing course, but it’s sooo big that it stretches out in the distance on both sides, but first becomes obvious on one side and then the other.”
That’s my guess and I’m stickin’ to it.
As to me:
Now about 8pm Mon. Was a lovely warm & sunny day until about 3pm then the rain showers and occasional thunderstorms kicked off and drenched everything. The sky is drying out now at sunset and it should be a pleasant overnight with no loud sound effects.
I just had a decent solo Italian dinner at a deserted Mom’n’Pop near home. No way in hell was I going to visit any Mexican eatery today.
GF showed up at the geezer disco on Fri night as planned then we were together until nearly noon today Mon. This is gettin’ real easy & real pleasant. We’re past the getting used to each other stage. Good yaks and good cuddles. We seem to be very naturally compatible.
Next weekend is Mother’s Day so that may crimp part of our visit calendar. She and her son have a very close relationship so her Sunday is all with him. I’m still a secret from her family, but that will change in due course.
In sad news, on Sat evening her daughter’s dog got out of the back yard and was run over and killed by a neighbor’s car. The dog was a known car-chaser that they tried very hard to keep corralled lest disaster occur. Welp, … corralling failed and disaster occurred. Poor dog, poor daughter, poor distraught neighbor, and poor GF. Everybody haz a sad.
Tomorrow Tue I have an first-thing stop at the dermatologist so he can inspect his handiwork from ~4 weeks ago on my upper arm. Right now the scar isn’t real pretty, but functionally he did great work. I have no doubt it’ll get better looking over time. Not sure what else he might want to poke at; we shall see.
Other than that, the word(le) of the week is RDOS!
As to this week’s theme, my thwarted plans for today and the next few is probably “getting the car washed and having it not be rain-ruined within a couple hours.” The good news is the last shower I drove through pretty well got the bird poop splotch off the hood that was my main goal at the carwash anyhow. One more oughta do it.
It’s remarkable that she lived with (presumably) no long term effects from being a preemie at that time period. Even in 1965, I lost a brother who was a 7 month baby when he was only about 6 weeks old because not nearly as much could be done for him as could be now.
More garden and yard work, so then we had to get some more plants, right? We harvested the last of the 5 heads of baby bak choi and stir-fried it with garlic, coconut amines, sesame seeds, orange juice, and pre-cooked shrimp, served over sticky rice.
I’ve constructed my May calendar. Let the wild rumpus begin.
Omgoodness. I also have an appointment with my dermatologist tomorrow about my upper arm but in the afternoon. I’m going under the knife. When she called me a week and a half ago to give me the results of the biopsy of a mole, I was kinda in a stunned state of shock and am not quite sure what she said other than something needs to be cut out and stitched up. Not sure if she said pre-cancerous cells or some cancer cells or what.
I love music and you’d think that American Idol would have been in my wheelhouse to watch… except that Simon Cowell was such an obnoxious SOB. So i watched maybe a time or two and said that’s it. Well, one of my very favorite singers is James Taylor and he was going to be a mentor about a week ago so somehow it got dvr’d. I guess Hubs must have dvr’d it for me. Well, first I found out Mr Cowell is no longer on it and second, the singers have so very much talent. Wow, very impressive. So, I am on my 4th episode and wow, there are some very talented singers on it.
Evening all. let’s do the scrolling first and then more about my day, such as it was.
shoe, I’m 6’2" and initials DH, but did my 5 years of restauranting back when I was in college and have no wish to return to it.
flyboy, good call on remembering the Mexicans celebrate it for kicking French asses out of there country.
Cat Glove, glad the lawn mowing situation is in the hands of an old pro again. An hope the cell removal part can be quick and relatively painless.
Sticky Buns, happy basement estimating.
nellie, hope you are feeling better. Nausea is no fun.
The whoosh sound is that reference passing over my head. Guess I’ll have to settle for the Kubrick reference…
FCM, glad the dishwasher is behaving itself now. As for owls, according to Google AI:
JtC, don’t blame you for being angry; it’s going to take a lot of these small bites to change things, not one big thing, but in the meantime real people get hurt. I’d see if you can get at least local coverage in the news about it, so everyone knows what is going down.
Pilot, I can never remember names worth a darn either; faces I’m good with but names don’t stick. And sounds like things are moving along well on the interpersonal front…sad news about the pupper, but seemed fated that it would happen one day… My car sat out for two downpours in 3 days so I figure that’s clean enough…
Living the good life…
And it’s closing in on 9:30pm, have a couple things to do before lights out, so take care and catch you on 2sDay.
