The Sap is Rising in the MMP!

I mentioned Wifey took us out for Valentine’s dinner on Friday, and that I got her a string of patio lights and a new patio heater for a V.D. gift. When we were at Costco, we saw the same Portuguese red blend wine we had at dinner. The restaurant charged $28. Costco had it for $4. *LOL*

Ah, my grandson… He was making his recognizable pooping noises, and when he was quiet again, I took him back to change him. After I wiped his itty-bitty butt and slid out the soiled diaper, he decided he wasn’t done. OMG - how does one little butt hold so much poo??? I had to get him new jammies along with the new diaper. And, alas, SIL ended up having to clean the messy clothing when he got home because I couldn’t just leave Toby in the care of the cats while I did his laundry.

I did my errands at Lowe’s, WalMart, and Aldi, but I have to return the crevice tool to Lowe’s - it’s the wrong size, dammit. I knew I should have measured the hose diameter. Dammit. And I got the smallest one they carried. Gotta look on line, I guess, to get what I need.

Chillage now till my eye appt.

You’re going to need a bigger crevice tool.

What I needed was the pressure washer!!

We don’t do Valentine’s Day, but Wifey found a sale on New York Strip steaks the other day, so last night we grilled them just right, charred outside and red but not bloody in the middle, along with asparagus, also on the grill, and baked (nuked) Yukon golds. Yum! To go with it we had a bottle of sparkling Dolchetto Rose from our friends winery. 'Twas good.

Nothing else to report. Carry on.

silenus, I once read a magazine article titled “Shhh, the refrigerator can hear us!” An author recounted selling his first piece. He and his wife were in the kitchen and he showed her the check, then the fridge broke down. Next time he took her outside to the driveway, and the car turned out to need work, lather , rinse, repeat.

We’ve had pizza a couple of weeks in a row. Mrs. L.A. says ‘[Such and such a day] is Pizza Night.’ I think it’s Mondays. I don’t want pizza. I don’t want the carbs, and Domino’s isn’t the greatest. (Plus, with an order of chicken wings, and order of lava cakes for The Missus, tax, delivery charge, and tip, the medium pizza costs $45 or so.)

So I’ve pulled some salmon out of the freezer. I’ll clip some rosemary off of the bush and slice a lemon, and we can have it for dinner. Much better than pizza. I’ll need to get some yellow squash to steam. I noticed at the supermarket yesterday that that they have orchids. I should get one, and a card, for my Valentine.

Good afternoon, Mumpers! I decided years ago that Valentine’s Day is for children. When I was little, Dad used to have a sweet card he’d picked out especially for each of us at our plates at breakfast. My kids loved getting and receiving Valentines at school. I always brought Hershey’s kisses and Hershey’s hugs to school for my students, who were very happy to get them. Giving kids something that says “You are lovable” is so cool. I miss it.

OK, Mumpers, all this lying around (Stoopid back is no better.) gives me way too much time to think, so I started a list of books your pets should write. So far, I have

Gaming the System: How to Give Your Human the Treat-Ment by Ripple
Dancing at the Door: 101 Ways to Avoid Getting Your Paws Wet by Gordie
I Am Giant: Life with Big Body, Small Brain by George
Fine Feathers by Misty
Gordie’s an Idiot by Alex Catt
Yoga for Snakes by Pretzel
How to Win Friends and Influence Poodles by Nelson

Maybe some of those are not as accurate as they should be, and that’s just a fraction of the adorable, interesting pets I read about here. If your pet could write a book, what would it be entitled? oops phone.

“The Life of a Poop Artist: The Northeast Section of My Canvas Needs More Work” by Vinnie Schnauzer.

Managing Stubborn Humans by Decibel Level, by Allie.

“bark bark bark bark bark bark” by Higgs

Allie’s second opus: Giving the Humans Their Needed Cardio: Terrorize Them By Being Unfindable.

nellie, in addition, Nelson is writing Alerting the Human to Outside Activity. :stuck_out_tongue:

When I worked for a GM subsidiary, production folks usually were laid off for ~6 weeks during model change (my first couple of years there, I worked production). Once I went to Quality, I worked OT during model change as a grunt in the R&D lab.

Irked, was sent home at noon for lack of irk and won’t have to be in until 0700 tomorrow. Good thing I just signed the contract and got the 50% deposit for a paying gig to be done in May. Meanwhile, I’m working on a personal project interspersed with making cards for sale.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

The phone call was from my sister. We talked for over 3 hours–not that either of us had much news. Once we get started, we just can’t shut up.

I was so, so tempted to catch a bus and go to the mall. But I know I’d never make it due to the spike (it feels like) in my back. I thought my follow-up appointment was this Friday, but it’s the 22nd. I don’t think I can accomplish anything by phone, so I’m not going to call any more, but I’m not happy about the state of things. I KNOW this isn’t normal post-op pain.

Mom, isn’t it amazing how babies can produce so much poop when they haven’t been in business that long? Speaking of which, you haven’t mentioned his sister’s potty training in ages, so I assume she’s :100: % there now.

Flyboy, do you buy wine at Costco? They seem to have a nice selection. Isn’t their house brand vodka the same as Grey Goose? Or is that a myth? Hope there’s some catio canoodling in your immediate future

Mostly, yeah. An occasional accident, because she doesn’t want to stop playing and hit the toilet, but for the most part, she’s got it nailed.

I like my eye doc, but dang, that man runs behind schedule. I had a 4:20 appt, I don’t think I got to see him till 5:10 and it was nearly 6 before I got out of there. But I like him and I’m retired, so what does time matter?? I should have new specs in 2-3 weeks. Cataracts are getting worse, but overall, my eyeballs are healthy, so there’s that.

Chillage ensues. Babby tomorrow.

Ran into another supply problem today. I went out to Benjamin Moore to get some paint for the bathroom vanity. He said they’d been out of it for two months and weren’t expecting any more for a couple more months. I don’t know if this is a trucking problem or if they import the stuff. On the plus side, they’re right down the street from the best cheesesteak place in town, so dinner was easy.

The electrician comes tomorrow and so does the radon testing guy. The fun continues.

I buy the Kirkland Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s $7.99 for 1.5 litres. It’s not ‘fine wine’, but this ain’t no fine dining establishment!

If I want tequila or gin, and I happen to be near Costco, I’ll get the 1.5 l bottles of their Silver tequila or London gin.

If I get the urge for different wine, I’ll pick something up from Trader Joe’s. The Missus seems to like some Spanish wine from the supermarket.

SNERT!!!

I saw the back doctor today and am not happy that his staff both didn’t get my recent MRI and that they didn’t tell me so I could get a copy. He wrote an order for PT and sent it to the place I went a few years ago and I’m pretty sure they are not there anymore. He also wrote an order for nerve blockers to be taken at night. Night isn’t the issue, after an hour or so on my heated waterbed, my back starts relaxing and I sleep pretty well.

We went to a Latin Cantina and were disappointed yet again when we saw that the menu had changed and it was now standard Tex-Mex fare.

VBC is going in for a dental tomorrow, which means we have to pick the fud up at 9pm. If GG survives the night, his breakfast will also be late. The wailing and shining will be non-stop, GG has never known a time when there wasn’t fud in the bowl and he doesn’t like getting his gooshy fud late. For a not so smart kitty, he’s got a really good fud clock.

I’ll feed GG and NSGC after hubs leaves with VBC, it wouldn’t be fair to give them breakfast while she’s locked in a carrier. There is good possibility I will start drinking very early…

I’ve been looking at the area around the resort in Tucson. It looks like we will be eating a lot of Tex-Mex, but there are a couple of museums fairly close and I’ll probably go visit with GG’s breeder. He likes people to come over and pet his kitties, it helps keep them well socialized. I checked his webpage and he’s planning to breed one of GG’s aunts when she comes into heat around the end of April, so maybe he’ll have a litter of kittens for me to play with.

Howdy Y’all! We slothed, we napped. I attended the Liturgy meetin’. Plans are in place for Ash Wednesday and Lent. Next meetup will be to plan Holy Week and Easter. The fun never stops! Also, supply Priests to take us to Easter. Hopefully we will have an Interim Priest lined up by then. Not bein’ church janitor Junior Warden was supposed to make my life easier. So far that ain’t the case. Ok, it’s somewhat easier but still this is church busier than I thought I would be. Sup also got et. Trash did not get picked up today. If it isn’t by noon tomorrow I shall have to grumble about it to the county PTB.

We’ve already had a dustin’ of pine pollen. I expect that in the next couple of weeks the annual pine tree orgy will be in full swing.

Making bacon cheeseburgers with munster cheese for dinner. Sipping a Manhattan It got all the way up to 39, so bring your sap chisel.

Alex Catt recommends this when the food bowl is mostly empty.

Chapter One: Why do we keep a loudbeast in the house, anyways?

And feel better nellie!
