(Old) OK, I’ll Start the MMP

Unfortunately, it’s not really working - the circulating fan seems to be stuck on low speed or no speed, despite me trying everything I could. Being an insert, a special track is required to pull it out and get a good look at what’s going on, or not going on, and we don’t have the special track. There’s only one company in this area that can service our insert and they’re $$$. I’ll be contacting them at the end of the heating season to service the unit and clean the chimneys - I know that will be $$$, but a tad less if I wait till they offer their early season savings - like in June. Anyway, I’m giving it one more chance since it’s cooled all the way down. If it doesn’t blow properly, we’ll just rely on oil heat for the rest of the season and refill the tank come spring. (Nope, not working. Dammit.)

Brave talk for someone out of arm’s reach! :stuck_out_tongue:

We went to the marina and put a bunch of canvas covers on the boat. They’re old but they’ll protect the teak. I get Tobias tomorrow - he had a fever today and they sent him home from school. He has to be fever-free for 24 hours before they let him return, so he’ll hang with me for the day.

Guess I can empty the dishwasher and do some rollsuckage.

Howdy Y’all! It’s been a very RDOS day today. Have I mentioned lately how much I love bein’ a RDOS? Productivity consisted of goin’ to the mailbox and haulin’ the neighbor’s and our biiiiiig trash cans all the way up from the road to where they stay and the makeage of sup. We geezer supped and now ‘tis time to watch stuff on the teevee. No Superb Owl or bunnies were watched last night.

JtC happy bday to hubs. Hope he enjoyed his day out.

Maus if you eat something healthy, it cancels out the unhealthy things. It’s true! I read it on the internet and you can’t put anything that’s not true on the internet.

I didn’t get the mopping done today. :frowning: I wound up spending nearly an hour dealing with the pharmacy, then my PCP to get my prescriptions straightened out. I think I would have rather mopped.

Estimate from the shop came back at $6850. We’ll see what insurance says about that.

Hooray! I’m finally able to post! I’ve been spending a lot of hours with dogs and cats, which is good for my wallet but doesn’t leave me much time for posting. Charlie went home Friday night, but he needed companionship during the day Saturday and Sunday. I am still cat-sitting so spending a lot of time up there.

That reminds me…This is a very sweet, very beloved cat. There are many bottles of feline supplements, she has her own cat-friendly salad bar (grass planter) and the place is a jungle of cat trees. And yet…the critter gets 1/4 cup of half-and-half every day. Her digestive system seems OK, but isn’t that bad in other ways, too, for kitties?

Today the sun came out while it was raining steadily. It was so beautiful. There was a rainbow in the northeast sky, and all the droplets clinging to the firs and cedars sparkled with tiny rainbows. The cat was far less impressed than I was. She has no sense of the esthetic.

Her person is returning home tomorrow evening.

In news from my daughter…well, it’s not news, really. They went through a dark time several years ago when he got a job on the coast. My daughter quit her job, and they gave up their rental house and signed the lease for an apartment there. Just before she was supposed to join him, I got a phone call: the funding hadn’t materialized, so he was out of a job. They were jobless and homeless. It was a long, rough pull. Now she tells me the funding was a cover story he concocted. In reality, he’d failed a drug test (marijuana).

My family still doesn’t know, and neither does her brother. She wants to wait until she tells her husband she’s divorcing him, and she won’t do that until she has all the ducks in a row.

She’s coming out before my back surgery to help me out. She may be staying for quite awhile. We’ll see.

I didn’t watch the Super Bowl, but since the Seahawks were in it, I was interested. (Will always be a Bears fan, but I’ve lived here 9 years, after all.) I don’t have cable, but every time the Seahawks scored, someone set off a firecracker, so I kept up. I usually skip the halftime show, but I watched this one on YouTube and loved it. I know maybe 20 Spanish words, 10 of them foodstuffs, but I thought it was excellent, maybe the best ever.

Whew! For a second there, I was appalled. Hope you do qualify soon, as that surgery is sure a game-changer for a lot of people.

MetalMouse, I have never heard of Sugar Bee apples. Are they crunchy? That’s my #1 criteria for an apple.

Oh, definitely. If there’s just enough, it raises the horrifying possibility that you made too little, and people didn’t get enough to eat. I’m glad the rings are back on and am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

This is one of the few times I miss having cable.

I knew there was a reason for all those Temperature True packages.

Well, let’s just say you’re still at the journeyman level.

red, yuck on the time-consuming phone calls!

I’m making a ‘rustic’ pizza for dinner. ‘Rustic’ means I totally failed at making a disc-shaped crust.

I’m going to have a salad of Romaine lettuce, shredded Parmesan, and Romano-Caesar dressing, with a couple of peperoncini. I’ll put the pizza in the oven when Wifey, RN gets home.

More of the usual today. We had 5 Guys for dinner, which was likely the high point. Oh, and my coffee order came in. Chatted online with some guys I served with, but I honestly couldn’t remember who the hell they were or what they looked like. Too many years and too much alcohol, I guess.

I’m going to make carne adovada for next Monday’s visit by niece and husband. Need to pick up a few things at the grocer in the next few days, including three pounds of pork shoulder.

I have a friend who always said “never trust a round pizza.” Hmm, I don’t trust your pizza method if’n it’s waiting to go into the oven. Unless you’re going with a in-pan style pizza.

Ooof my back is barking. Too much time working on things that are 2 feet tall.

doggio I’ll start yelling at the clouds if you get some drinks ready. I am still shocked to see the school bus roll by and pick up kids at 7:15.

Up from naptime, having cheeseburger and fries. And an Old Fashioned.

Onan the Squirrel. Does that count?

:bottle_with_popping_cork: :birthday_cake: :partying_face:HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. JTC!!! :birthday_cake: :bottle_with_popping_cork:

I taped it(can you “tape” something that comes as light pulses through fiber optic tubes? Oh God, I’m old.) foff Hulu

Evening all. Got enough calories sweated off at the gym that eating at the Golden Arches was not an issue. Did add about 4lbs. at my Monday weight-in, due to my Super Bowl over-indulgences, but potato chips, brownies, and cupcakes have all been…disposed of…so hopefully my diet will allow for some reduction this week. (It isn’t all that bad; scale says 203.8lbs and as long as I stay between 198 and 210 lbs. I’m happy). Still 52F at 8pm, so should be a good night for sleeping and may try out the new alarm clock to see if it is as loud as promised.

Coppertone, best wishes for the eye checkup, so far cataracts have left me alone, but one of these days…

FCM, sorry the pellet stove is on the fritz; hopefully the pellets you ordered can wait another year to be used.

red, hopefully the prescriptions have been straightened out, you can always do moppage tomorrow…

Pavo, hope the insurance doesn’t give you any grief.

nellie, thanks for the report, best wishes for daughter, sounds like she’s doing it the smart way. As for Sugar Bee apples, someone recommended them (they called them Su-Bee apples IIRC) a couple weeks ago when I was writing about them and they were next on the list. I’ll start eating them tomorrow, 2 apples a day Tues-Fri and then 2 bananas a day Sat-Mon is my usual routine and I’ll let you know how they are. Both Gala and Fuji are good, the Gala maybe a little better IMHO.

And that’s all for now.

The process has been smooth so far. The only question really is whether they approve the repairs or total it.

I hope that the other driver’s insurance covers it.

If it’s drivable, you have the option of purchasing it with a salvage title and just not receive as much money (ask the person who had one Chevy S10 hit 6 times, twice totaled, but given its age, totaled).

Yeah - whenever I host game night, she makes sure there is food for days.

My son called tonight. Apparently he and another LT were being recommended to move to a different unit, but neither the captain who was interviewing then, not their current captain have any clue who had put them in, so they’re staying where they are. Listening to his experiences, I’m beginning to think that Catch-22 was a documentary.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 30 degrees Ferret Height(-1.111 Centipedes).

AND GIRL CORY AND BOY KOREY HAMMER THE ITALIANS TO GO FOR GOLD!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/44f with a predicted high of 9c/47f and cloudy. Weather app says “For fuck’s sake. What’s up with the fucking overcast sky?”

You gave it The Look and it still didn’t work? Sorry to hear it will have to wait for spring to get fixed though, that’s a rough one.

JtC belated happies to Hubs!

Good news for your finances indeed, but we do miss you  I’m sorry to hear daughter’s tale, it sounds like he will not be missed at all.

I worked a bit longer than usual yesterday then went to feed cats and sort out the litter trays. I also made dinner, emptied the bins and hauled the biiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection. This morning, I hauled the empty biiiig bin back to where it lives while I fill it up again!

Today is a busy day for me, the supermarket has already delivered my online shopping order, and I have a mobile mechanic coming this afternoon to look at the car’s battery (and hopefully replace it) so I can be mobile again. In between, I have a lot of irk stuff to do for my absent minion and I am also expecting a call from the Dept of Work and Pensions about some stuff for absent minion since they make recommendations on disability support. All fun and games for me today!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 73 and cloudy. TWPTB say rain tomorrow. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is laundry. I can hardly contain myself. I am also expectin’ delivery of one of my meds via FedYecch. At some point I need to go to :astonished_face:Wally Jr. to get some vitamins and a few sundry things. Sup will be leftovers from last night except I will make some rice cause we et all the N.O.T. last night.

Coppertone good luck with the eye exam. I expect to join the cataract removal club at some point. Take courage in knowin’ other Mumpers have had it done and report excellent results.

Nellie we have missed you but glad the absence has been a profitable one. Daughter has what seems to be a smart plan. Soon to be ex-SIL sounds like a piece of work.

FlyBoy what I say when my culinary attempts look less than perfect but are still tasty is: “What do you want to do, look at it or eat it.”

VanGo hope your back feels better today. I would like to join doggio and you on the front porch yellin’ at whippersnappers whilst downin’ martinis.

Pavo yikes on the estimate! Here’s hopin’ for the best possible outcome.

BooFae hope the vehicle woe gets taken care of in a timely manner.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Postin’ again to say this…

Happy birthday to JtC and Doggio!

It is to reach 45 today. :beach_with_umbrella::beach_with_umbrella:

Happy doggio Day!!! In your honor, Otis will get his monthly flea and heartworm meds! OK, so he gets them on the 10th of every month.

Today is starting at 28 Ferrets and we’re promised upper 40s. Tobias will be here in an hour or so. I’m thinking I’ll call the pellet stove place just to see what a service call will run. The bedroom part of the house gets nicely warm but this other end doesn’t seem to want to follow suit. It was 68 Ferrets in the kitchen this morning. I may get a fire going in the basement if Tobias seems in a playing mood.

The day will be what it will be. And adventure of sorts to figger it out as I go along, eh?

Happy Tuesday!
