Never got into industrial. Enjoyed “Scraping Foetus From the Wheel” tho.
BurnMeUp, it’s very heartening to see another Dickies fan out there! And guess who’s talkin’ on the “Conservative Punk” site that Muad’Dib linked to (tho that’s not quite my brand of conservativism there) – none other than LG Phillips himself.
But hey, if you really want “not leftist”, there’s always Skrewdriver.
Don’t forget, there was a reason Jello wrote “Nazi Punks Fuck Off”. There’s a ton of hardcore rightist music out there.
As for “great political bands”, I can’t think of one band that was great because it was political. The bands I like, at least, are great because they know how to play. A sense of humor helps. One reason I like DK is they’re so damn funny. Biafra’s politics, for my money, are “so boring boring boring”.
Skrewdriver… I remember those assholes. Right wing band? Pfft… whatever. Neo-Nazi band? Fuck that.
One thing this thread has reminded me of is that, with punk rock, once you get signed to some kind of label, your music kinda starts to blow.
fishbicycle was on the right track. Some of the best punk rock is happening right under your nose. They’re playing in your town… they’re 17-18 years old… and they’re not on Epitaph or Fat or any kind of punk lable. If they’ve recorded anything at all, it’s probably on CDR, and you have to buy it from some guy who’s in the band. If you want something really good, you shouldn’t be looking to the SDMB, you should be looking on a telephone pole somewhere in your town.
Dude thats not even funny. Don’t come in here and post a link to Resistance records.
Damn. I’ve seen it all now. Excuse me while I grab a fork and poke my eyes out.
Conservative punk?!?!?! That even more of an oxymoron than ‘Christian Rock’.
Of course, it’s not as if assholes like Michale Graves have any punk credibility whatsoever, but It’s kind of sad to see the Dickies singer on that site.
Maybe it’s time for a good old fashioned Stalinist style purge within the scene
Up against the wall motherfuckers!!!
Damn. I must have been out of it yesterday. That quote is from MXPX, not NOFX! Surprised none of you have called me on it yet!
MXPX is also a great band, but probably not what the OP was looking for - they have a less serious sound, more like a bunch of teenagers out to party than a group raging against society. NOFX is far more up your alley.

.
What, and that’s a good thing???
All I can say is, if all nazis drove as well as Skrewdrivers Ian Stewert, the world would be a much better place.
Yes, I know I spelled Ian Stuart’s name wrong. It’s early and my brain isn’t quite awake yet.
From the Skrewdriver page that was posted:
Throughout the ages certain men have stepped up at the proper times to guide the Aryan race from it’s destructive course
and lead it down the path to salvation. Adolf Hitler, Commander George Lincoln Rockwell and Dr. William Pierce
are all important examples, however no one has ever been able to open as many youthful eyes as Ian Stuart Donaldson.
WHAT A BUNCH OF FUCKING SHIT.
q: Why did Ian Stuart crash his car?
a: He couldn’t turn left.

Hahaha. My favorite take on the greatest car wreck of all time was MDC’s “Nazi’s Shouldn’t Drive” on their split 7" with Capitalist Casualties (that benifited Food Not Bombs)…“Ian, Ian, King of the pit, no friend to you or me. ARRRGGHHH… Watch out for that tree!”
Hey, did you hear Ian Stuart was on the radio? And on the dashboard, and on the steering wheel…

My favorite anti-Ian song is “Dead But Not Forgiven” by the German oi band Stage Bottles.

Never heard of that band. I’ll have to check 'em out. I love good Oi! stuff, and it really sucks how the media equates Oi/skinhead music with racist and ultra right nationalist ideals, when in reality that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Whats worse is that boneheaded kids see that and just pepetuate the whole stereotype.
Sample_The_Dog: I realize that just because you’re conservitive doesn’t make you a nazi, but some of us have very deeply held beliefs against stuff like Skrewdriver and organizations like Resistance Records. I’ve witnessed first hand back in the 80s the damage that that kind of scene can cause within the punk community. In fact, in my town, there’s a small group of racist skins that are starting to recruit young dumb kids to their cause, and I really fucking hate it. I apologize if I came of seeming all self righteous about it, but whenever the topic of ultra right/nazi politics come up in a discussion about punk, I tend to get carried away at times.
ill second the new bomb turks recommendation.
a couple of bands that are no longer around, but still worth checking out:
- the selby tigers
- teengenerate
- the red aunts
and for those of you that liked the circle jerks, try midget handjob. it’s not punk, but it’s still keith.

ooo yeah, Teengenerate. I haven’t listened to them in ages. There’s a lot of great punk that comes out of Japan. Check out Thee Michelle Gun Elephant if you haven’t already. They kind of have a 60s punk influence, but they don’t sound like anybody else.
So whats Midget Handjob like. Is it better than the last Circle Jerks record? That album sucked big smelly ass, except for the Soft Boys cover.
I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ll say it again: The new Exploited album “Fuck The System” is awesome. It’s free of all the metal wankery of “Beat the Bastards” and Wattie still sounds as pissed as ever.
>>what’s Midget Handjob like?
keith morris over the top spoken word, backed by dueling saxaphone experimental jazz.

Then ya gotta mention Alice Donut too, who are kind of not unlike nomeansno, sort of. I’ve been listening to Bucketful Of Sickness alot lately.
How 'bout Killdozer, although you can’t really call Killdozer punk. You’d have to invent a whole new genre to label them.
Huh? Apocalyptica? For those of you who don’t know, it’s 4 Hungarian guys on electric cellos doing covers of Metallica’s earlier songs (pre-Load).

If any of you are living in Europe, Nomeansno will be touring there with Alice Donut this Spring / Summer.
