I youtubed it - and that’s it! I bow to your immense knowledge of my childhood amusements!
I used to love that show. I managed to snag the firt two series on DVD. Its dated a bit now, but fun to watch from time to time.
my roommate in college used to sing the theme song when we got drunk.

At that point there would be a twanging sound, and Froggy the Gremlin, a rubber frog puppet, would appear in a cloud of smoke. Froggy, who was always pulling pranks, was my absolute favorite part of the show.

ETA: There’s even an FtG site.

Cool. I didn’t realize Froggy was that old. Jeff Greenfield, in the Times Arts and Leisure section sometime in the '70s, claimed that student uprisings in the '60s were all due to Froggy who taught disrespect for authority. It certainly worked for me. The rest of the show was miserable, Froggy was the only reason I watched it.
He protects and he saves
his friends under the waves
That’s where you’ll find Diver Dan
The was also the Sergeant Major fish, and people there celebrated unbirthdays. Dan had a mermaid friend, who wore considerably fewer clothes than he did.
I also watched Rocky Jones, Space Ranger (I have a few episodes on DVD)
Along with Hercules, Channel 11 in New York showed these crappy Dick Tracy cartoons, starring a selection of dopes and ethnic stereotypes. a common thing to t he cartoons was that in the middle, when the character was in trouble, he’d say “hold everything” and call Dick on his two way wristphone. Dick, back at the office, was no help at all, and then the action would resume.
Bob Cummings was in The People’s Choice and Love that Bob, along with the talking basset hound Cleo who had all the good lines.
My oldest was about 4 when we got the very early Nickelodeon. Along with the series already mentioned, they had the Star Trek cartoons, Danger Mouse, and their first original show, Eureka’s Castle. My daughter got to work with two of the puppeteers from there in an industrial.
I do!!! How great! I didn’t realize that was Sesame street! I’d always thought it was part of School House rocks.
4 pages, and still no mention of Jem and the Holograms. Truly outrageous!
Oh, yeah, I just remembered Maxie’s World and Beverly Hills Teens. My sisters and I used to watch this after school, when our little brother wasn’t watching Robotech and G.I. Joe.
“Gemini Man” appeared in an MST3K episode as “Riding With Death.” And boy, was it perfect material for the show.
It was on the SDMB that I learned that the show I remembered was called “The Phoenix.” A failed series about an alien/sun-deity coming down to earth and doing all the stereotype TV adventure-show things like helping down and out underdogs beat their antagonists.
An apparently little-watched cartoon was the Galaxy Rangers. Top-rate animation, Jerry Orbach’s voice talent, and a real plot. But alas, only a few episodes were done.
Ooh! Ooh! Does anyone remember the prime-time drama about the boy who was raised by wolves, Lucan?
I remember that show. IIRC it starred the guy that was Khan’s main henchman in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
I barely remember Lucan, Jayjay…but I may be remembering Bigfoot and Wildboy. I dare you to watch that without link without laughing.
Oh. My. God. I never would have remembered that show ever, ever. I watched that show all of the time and I can’t believe it left my memory banks.
Just remembered another one I never hear mentioned: Frankenstein Jr. I obviously caught the 1976 repackaging with Space Ghost.
Just remembered another one–Batfink!
“Your bullets cannot harm me! My wings are like a shield of steel!”
I used to love the Dick Tracy cartoons!
One of the great things about growing up in NYC was that we had more kid-show hosts than just about anyone. I fondly remember such personalities as:
Sandy Becker (remember Norton Nork, Hambone, and K. Lastima? Not to mention that creepy dummy he used to perform Johnny Cymbal’s Mr. Bassman with?
Officer Joe Bolton
Captain Jack McCarthy (“eight bells and all is well!”)
Chuck McCann on Just For Fun–used to dress as Dick Tracy and Little Orphan Annie
Claude Kirshner and Clowny (“Hey there, skinny-bones!”)
Beachcomber Bill Biery
Sometimes I really miss those days.
Ooh! You made me remember another one! As I’ve noted in many threads, WPIX out of NYC was on our basic cable lineup in central PA in the 70s, so we got to enjoy such delights as PIX!, endless Tom & Jerry, Broadway musical commercials, and…
The Magic Garden!
Two hippyish 20something women, Sherlock the Squirrel, the Chuckle Patch, Story Box…too much fun! I learned “Mairzy Doats” from Paula.
o/ You don't need a key so follow me! There are no locks on Story Box! Story Box! Story Box! There are no locks on Story Box! o/
Okay - another challenge - what was the other Japanese Anime series that I used to watch after StarBlazers - I think it had a character named Aurora (Dawn) or Alora Dawn - Og - what an awful way to describe it. Wish I could just give you a .jpeg of the images in my head . . .
My brother watched the shows for the fighting, I just loved how pretty the girls were and wished I looked like them.
I remember it being a Saturday morning show.
That’s because, as per the OP, no one remembered the series but you!
Anyway, for truly awful, deservedly forgotten TV series, how about Supertrain? It was so bad, that it nearly took the entire network down with it!
As for saturday morning cartoons, does anybody else remember Web Woman? Or how about Super Stretch and Micro Woman? The latter cartoon had two odd things going for it – it was a rare instance in which a cartoon depicted African-American superheroes (who didn’t have the word “Black” as part of either of their code names) and they were an adult, married couple.
In Brandon Tartikoff’s autobiograph, he has some words about Fred Silverman’s attachment to this show, and how Tartikoff couldn’t understand why Silverman thought there was an audience for a show about rich people who are afraid to fly.
Okay, this one is going to be really obscure. I very vaguely remember watching a kids cartoon when I was very young. It was about two dogs, possibly scotties, one black one white. IIRC, episodes were 5 minutes long, no dialogue, just music. Shown on British TV about 35 years ago.
Can anyone name that cartoon?
I remember these, and I remember It’s About Time. Arnie? Was that the one with Hershel Bernardi?
How about
Go Go Gophers, I think they were part of Tennessee Tuxedo and His Pals. I used to wonder where the “Whooopeee Doooopeeee” in my brain came from, it was a line Chief Runningboard used to say. (I will go through the rest of this thread tonight, I’m on lunch right now.)
Starzinger aka Spaceketeers?
