Old Song Parodies

hi, ppl

I’m new here and was wondering if anyone remembers a few old song parodies.

  1. from the early '60s cold war era Kruschev the Bald Headed Russian (done to the tune of Rudolph)

  2. an old tune from one TV show in the 60s Away, Away, I’m Going Away With the Men in the Clean White Coats

  3. the old parody Plastic Jesus

  4. last, but not least, a song parody done on radio (or was it from a comedy album played on the radio?) from the late 70s it was an irreverant poke at the boy scouts and the motto “Be Prepared”

Your second one would be “They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” by Napoleon XIV, aka Jerry Samuels.

Wasn’t that the one where the B side of the 45 was the song played backwards?

You mean “aaaH-aH ,yawA eM ekaT oT gnimoC er’yehT”?

Older than that.

Be Prepared, by Tom Lehrer.

Of course we remember Plastic Jesus, although without checking I couldn’t tell you which verses were original and which have been added or amended since then.

But since I did check, here ya go.

cochrane,

i know about They’re Coming To Take Me Away … I was referring to a different song that looked like it was done on some kind of TV/Variety show for the time
