(Old) Spot the Lunatic - A Cat MMP

Having an extra day off means Spot gets an extra 24 hours to kill and eat my hand. So now it’s one more round before I go to work.

Hijack away!

Tuxedo cats are the bestest.

I love Spot.

We have a small tuxedo cat. She bosses the great big 70+ lb mutt around.

She knows her limits however, and defers to the even smaller 5 lb mini-Yorkie.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 5c/41f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and cloudy. Weather app says “Don’t like this fucking weather? Wait a minute. It’ll fucking change.” Don’t think so, not today. We are predicted nothing but cloudy skies all day.

Spot bears a striking resemblance to Cherry, although she doesn’t do much hand-eating. She likes a good fuss and then decides to high-five with her feet instead. Cats are daft.

Yay, Spot!

Annie does not try to eat my hand, she’ll just try to marinate it.

So sleepy this morning. I may go back to bed soon.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 77 and clear. Rain tomorrow accordin’ to TWPTB. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house. Thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. OYKW and I will head over early to do setup as is our wont. We will engage in RDOS inactivities before then.

doggio in Spot’s defense, the quality of the service at the resort where he resides is less than stellar.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 40F and cloudy outside. Rain showers will occur throughout the day, and the high temperature will be 45F.

My eye hasn’t turned black, thank goodness, but my eyelid and forehead look like I was on the losing end of a knife fight.

Normally, I’d be sitting in the parking lot at the Olympia Haggen, waiting for it to open right now. But the dogs have a vet appointment this afternoon, and I didn’t want to get caught in any traffic trying to get back up here. So, I’ve opted to work from home and then take the whole afternoon off. I’ve got to tranq Maisie an hour before we leave so she’s not a big stress ball and barking her fool head off at the vet. I only give her enough to take the edge off.

The pups do not try to eat my hand, although Buster will grab it to pull me somewhere. That’s usually a sign he wants to play or show me a toy he can’t get to (usually under the couch). Both will try to lick my hands if I let them.

Okey-dokey. Although I’m only working half a day, it’ll feel long due to the long list of must-dos and a couple of situations that need to be sorted out for the boss. Onward with the day.

You can read the title a different way!
I spotted them.

Is that one of them fancy England words for bat-crap crazy? If so, I agree.

(Yes, I know what daft means. This was an attempt at humor.)

Ziva isn’t a hand-eater, but she has a new routine. When I change from clothes to sleeping attire, she paces around the foot of the bed till I lift her up and brush her. She’s too old and fat to get up there herself since we got rid of the wobbly bench next to the bed, but since I’m nice, dammit, I’ll pick her up and fuss over her a bit. Then she’s happy and she goes somewhere. Dunno where. Don’t much care as long as she’s peeing and pooping in her littler box.

I’m a bit of a klutz - ok more than a bit - and I used to worry about my Dr thinking I was being beaten. How do you prove a negative?? Luckily our GP knows the whole family well and she knows we’re not fighters. And after my little episode on the boat, she knows I’m a klutz, so we’re good. That and I don’t know that I’ve had a black eye in eons. Mostly what I get are bruises on my arms and legs plus wounds from stickers when I work in the yard.

I’m hoping to finally disassemble the greenhouse, but I’m so tahred. I got all of maybe 3 hours of sleep. I felt hyper-caffeinated for some reason and it was after 3AM before I finally dozed. It’s now just past 9 and I’m up, showered, dressed, and just back from Food Lion.

I scored four 12-packs of diet coke cans plus an 11# butterball for just over $11!! Partly because of having the MVP card (they can track my purchases all they want - I don’t care) and partly because of the $20 coupon I earned for 6 purchases over $50. The Butterball will be roasted while the other bird (which is nearly thawed) will be smoked some time this week. Most of each will be in freezer packs for future meals.

The nurse just arrived. MIL was in really bad shape yesterday - honestly, I’m surprised she survived the night. All she ate yesterday was a bite of a grilled cheese sammich and a couple of sips of coffee. I don’t think she was awake all of an hour in total. I’m curious to hear what Cathy has to say. So that and some yard work are all that’s on my agenda so far. I do need to make a real meal for supper - this random foraging hasn’t been particularly healthy.

Anyway, Happy Moanday!!

Ursala Kitteh shows no interest in people fuds except for popcorn made on top of the stove. Last night she jumped on the ottoman and waited for me to offer her the bowl. She took one kernel.

Thanks for the Ariel well wishes. I’m still tired from it all. Today is the chiro and the gym, then sloth.

Morning all. Slept well and am ready for a pleasant day with the high at 72F. Do need to go the Wall of Mart for some shopping and get my Jersey Mike’s Moanday meal, but that is about it. Will try to get my swimming in, but might ease up on the gym stuff, been pressing hard to see if I can get my weight below 200lbs (current best is 202.5) and while I don’t think I can maintain it (I’m not going to exercise that hard and I likle food too much), it would be neat to see a scale that doesn’t start with a ‘2’.

Never owned a cat, I get along fine with them when I visit, but catering to a feline is something I never learned.

Taters, FCM, have whacked myself in the head a couple times, but since I am a single gentleman of leisure, hard to blame anyone but myself. Hope the vet visit goes well.

OK, need to get the morning banana and then look forward to the day. have a good week all.

lager will attempt a hand nibble every now and again. it is not well received.

got up ahead of the alarm today. then was nearly late to the shuttle. having a bit of extra time can be dangerous.

both cats have gotten more grumbly lately. lager would come by for morning cuddles, now it is morning grumbles. he just curls up and “grooo, mmmmmummm, groooo, groooo”. he will stop a bit if you head skritch, then back to mmmmuummmm, grooo. koritza has a creakier voice, so it is more like a creaky groan.

i guess they like humans find this getting old thing, getting old. i’m sure i will be grumbly at 84.

Exercise day. Otherwise not much going on.

There was a couple who used to live here that we were friendly with. Some months ago they moved to a place that can provide more personalized care. We found out today that they were dancing and both went down in a heap. He broke a leg and she broke some ribs. My guess is that one of them lost balance and the other tried to catch him/her. What the fuck were they thinking?

Vet appointment tomorrow for Sadie. When she comes out for her breakfast, we’ll have to lock her out of the bedroom so she can’t get back under the bed. Then we’ll have to get her in her carrier later in the morning, which she is not going to want to do. This may set her back on trusting us, but she really needs to be seen so our vet gets some baseline info. She also likely needs dental cleaning and maybe extractions. We got a month of free pet insurance when we got her from the humane center, so signed up for that.

From last week:

Same.

Which is why, when people ask, “Why did you name your cat Monkey?” I give them the Good Glare :trade_mark: and reply, “If you ever met the little :imp: you’d understand.”

… aaaaand he’s walking on me.

Like, ON me.

If anyone asks, just mutter, “You should see the other bitch!” and let 'em wonder.

(ETA: Okay, it’s not technically true anymore, I forgot you had her spayed already … still works, though.)

In doggio’s defense, every cat in the history of cats has said that.

Including that fluffy white cat eating from a crystal goblet in the … I think it was Fancy Feast commercials?

Several thousand years ago, our ancestors worshipped their ancestors as gods. Cats have never forgotten that.

^^ One of my favorite memes.

This gave me a smile.

{ Ahem. }

Humour.

(She’s British, ya gotta humor them.)

How awful!!

Yeah. It will.

I assume you, as her unpaid staff, will provide the GOOD gooshy-fud (whatever that is to her) plus squeezy-crack, especially if her little mouth will be sore.

As Boo said in last week’s chitty-chat, please give her gentle pats on the neck from all of us.

You are very polite to offer her the whole bowl!

She was very polite right back.

I’ve barely skimmed what I’ve missed in the past two MMPs (everything!), so I’m just hopping into this one early on. If I let more than 50 or so posts go by without reading, it’s just too overwhelming to catch up. And that’s what I’ve been up to for the past couple of weeks: being overwhelmed.

Daughter #1 was put on another, higher-dose course of steroids to control her itching, and she thinks she may be able to hang on until her due date. If it gets bad again, they’ve tentatively scheduled an induction for December 4. :scream: If that happens, it means we’ll be flying back up there less than a week after we get back from our Thanksgiving trip. It would make sense to just change our flights and stay in that case, but all three of us have appointments on that Monday or Tuesday with offices that are scheduling 6 months out. I’m attempting to keep calm, etc.

cookie, congratulations on getting Sadie! It’s unfortunate that you have to disrupt things just as she’s settling in, but from my vast experience with cats who need dental care, I’d say it’s worth the trade-off in comfort afterwards, and they usually forgive pretty quickly.

Taters, ouch! I hope you heal quickly. I’m forever whacking myself in the face, and I hate looking like a domestic violence victim while the bruises fade.

FCM, that sounds like absolute torment, holding your breath every time you check on MIL. I think of you and FCD often; this is a very long and hard road, and it sounds like you’re doing the work with all the grace possible.

Here’s wishing a good Monday for all!

Holy :imp: you have a lot on your plate!

I heard the familiar “whump” of the mailbox, flew out of bed into my bathrobe and on to check, and … it’s finally here! My damn debit card, and access to … aw crap, I gotta update a zillion accounts, and finalize an Amazon order, and … ya know what?

Imma go back to bed.

Gawds I’m getting old. Celebrating = Naptime.

Whatever. I’m just so relieved it’s here; I feel like I can breathe again.
Plus now I can spend money like a drunken sailor get all the non-sooper-essentials, like chicken and cheese for my next work meals.

After a, yanno, nap.

So I was running the 200 and 100 slide, and cleaning up Saturday’s mess(Did like zero people come in?), when I got called to fix today’s mess on the 300 slide. So it turned into a long day. Which is fine, because Spot gets even crankier when I have to buy bottom shelf gin for him.

He gets what he pays for.

Spot shows little interest in my cooking, but he is a lunch meat slut. Except for salami. He dislikes Italian cold cuts.

And why Spot’s full title is Spot D. Catt, S.E.G.(Small Egyptian God)

Oy vey!

OK, naptime

The greenhouse has been disassembled and the pieces of structure have been wrapped in the plastic “wall” part. It’s all in the truck ready to be junked. Go me!

Just got an interesting bit of email:

While browsing through your site, I came across a few errors.

With your permissions: Would it be helpful if I share a Screenshot of these issues?

Can I show you the errors.?

You mean errors like a question mark after a period??

I don’t have a site. The email came to the account that we get with our broadband service - the one I use when ordering pizza and crap like that. I’m sure there’s something scammy which is why I dumped it in the junk folder and blocked the sender.

Gotta decide what FCD and I will have for supper. If MIL wakes up, there will be enough for her 2 or 3 tablespoons, but except for the nurse and the nerve-wracking attempt at a shower, she’s been sleeping since 5 yesterday evening, and even then she was only awake about 10 or 15 minutes. Neither of the hospice folks came out and said it, but, yeah…

I did ask Jessica how to get the blankets to Hospice after she no longer needs to come, and she said she’d stop by when she’s in the area, so that saves me a long drive to the Hospice building and back again. When I have 4 or 5 ready to go, I can text her.

OK, time to inventory the freezer. We need supper.

There’s a stray one in our neighbourhood. Very nice-looking, in excellent condition, so he(?) may actually have a home. I call him Tennessee.

My favourite cats are Maine coons and Siamese. None of our current lot are of either variety, though. They’re all American shorthairs, though Susu is quite fluffy (gets it from his mother) with a tail reminiscent of ostrich plumes. Eraser, Lily, Susu and Yoda are solid black (though they sometimes look brown in the right light); Angel and Chihiro are grey-and-white; and Nandi is black-and-white.

Majestic creatures indeed. Have you ever encountered a Norwegian Forest cat? I recently visited friends who have one - it was even more incredible than a Maine Coon.
