(Old) Tell A Stoopid Joke MMP!

.. in the rain.

Y’all recreating Woodstock?

(Besides, knowing true hippies, a shower wouldn’t hurt matters.)

Sort of.
Finger Lakes GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance

Most locals hate it.

To sum up - much cleanage occurred! Along with the usual dustage and rollsuckage, I ran Webster around the crown molding and corners and door casings. Then I got super ambitions and disassembled the dining room chandelier and un-dustified the glass shades - OMG, were they disgusting! But all bits are washed and the structure of the fixture has been dusted - I even dusted the light bulbs!

And I got a new weed killer that’s supposedly safe around kids and pets. I sprayed some of the chameleon weed and it appears to work, so huzzah!! We went to Tequila Grill for lunch and neither of us wants supper, so we’ll graze if we get hungry. And for the rest of the day, I shall enjoy my clean surroundings as I chill. Then we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

A guy walks into a psychiatrist’s office with a duck on his head. The doctor says “Can I help you?”

The duck says “Yeah, get this guy off my ass.”

And yes, I stole it.

Bizzy, bizzy, bizzy! But first, a joke:

What makes your hair sing? A headband!

Started off the morning at 51Ferrets and threw open the house at 2:30 a.m. I got the place cooled down to 65F before closing it all back up again. Currently we’re sitting at 82F outdoors and on our way to 86F. But the house remains at a comfortable 67F.

That’s what I think, too, cat glove and swampy! Obviously I wish it would cost less, and it might, but anything that involves moving dirt while working in/around running water is likely to involve big bucks. Could’ve been much worse. I won’t really relax until the job is done and the pond is refilled, though.

Thank you. See above. Let’s see how it all works out in the end.

You’re going to do just fine.

My poor little boy is just falling apart without his regular meds. His eyes are a mess, and his skin is flaking like crazy. I’m feeding him Benedryl and counting the hours till the vax booster. There will be another preventive yeast bath tomorrow.

I’m sorry you’re losing your cat sitter, and it was so thoughtful of you to give her a farewell gift and carefully written card. I hope the new person is her equal!

Don’tcha hate when that happens? Enjoy your RDOS day!

Good luck getting rid of the lamp! My parents and I used to exchange the same gawdawful white kabuki mask every Christmas, something like this:

I could never get rid of that thing fast enough…

Have fun on the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad train, metal mouse! And drive safe tomorrow.

I think you stated that with admirable restraint. 79Ferrets is awful.

Good luck with training on Friday, coppertone!

I know, right? The nerve!

Oopsie, hope the marathon meeting is productive, at least. Look after your back, and I hope you can catch up with The New Yorker soon. I subscribed to that magazine for nearly 50 years and I still love it.

Look after yourself, wet one! Ariel will be a lot more neurotic if you suffer a medical emergency and can’t look after her at all!

Yes. This is not even an issue subject to debate, IMHO. Silly hubs! Your crown molding choice is very pretty, by the way.

This is funny. And what a nice thing for the random older lady to stop and say. I’ll bet it looks wonderful!

Van Gogh, I hope it goes for you as our most recent Country Fair went this past weekend for me. I completely forgot about it and was not impacted by it at all.

A busy morning for me. I was up at 5:45 a.m. ( :face_vomiting: ), looked after Ollie and gave him some play time, then sheveled and ran into town for the boob squish. There was a wreck on the rural road I use to get to town, but the emergency responders managed to control the traffic so I wasn’t late for my appointment. Lots of property damage, but I didn’t see evidence of damaged people. Always glad to see that.

I stopped and washed the car after the appointment, then ran all over hell and gone to find clear gas for the mower. So that’s sourced again after 3 stops. Thence to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions and a few groceries. The bank, gas for the car and now home. The rest of the day is for chillage so far as I’m concerned.

Breakfast was a quick homemade McMuffin with egg, cheese and ham. Dinner is… hellifIknow yet! Maybe some Minestrone soup I made before and froze.

Have fabulous days, all!

Woohoo! Old World v. New World and all in Spanish!

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stored provisions. Then, since the sun did make an appearance, we had some quality cee-mint pond time for a couple of hours. Nappage was then achieved and we day drank whilst the boxed (don’t judge!) lasagna baked. Sup has been consumed and the kitchen cleanded. Now we return to our regularly scheduled RDOS sloth.

I’d like you to meet Ito, your new Sleep Paralysis Demon.

It’s 5:50pm, and I’m officially tired of this CA-based meeting! Only a little over 2 more hours to go…if it ends on time (yesterday it went 40 minutes over; of course, the parts I care the most about are at the very end). At least it’s the end of the business day here: the storm of emails and chats that I’ve been dealing with all day has finally died down, and everything other than this meeting should stay quiet. :crossed_fingers:

I got a few deliveries today, and every time I stepped outside for a few seconds – just long enough to bring the package in – I couldn’t believe how freakin’ hot it was (and still is) out there! Happily the temp in the kitchen has stayed at 76-77, which is quite tolerable with the occasional assist from a small table fan. I’ve been hanging out here since my last post. Moving to the TV room was an option if this floor got hot, but it’s a lot harder to set up for work down there; I’m glad I’ve been able to stay put.

I won’t mind going to the office tomorrow. I kind of miss being around people, and it’ll be nice to sit in a/c that someone else is paying for. :joy: Plus, there’s a virtual submarine tour tomorrow afternoon that I’m looking forward to. My customer is the U.S. Navy’s nuclear sub program, and a virtual tour is the closest I’ll get to an SSBN unless I go to Kings Bay (GA) or Bangor (WA) sometime. I’ll work from home again on Friday – after the boob squishing – and Monday.

Time to decide what to have for dinner while this meeting continues. Last night I nuked a Lean Cuisine mac & cheese, but tonight I don’t feel like having anything that’s currently in the freezer…ooooooo, I just remembered that I have a chicken tikka masala rice bowl in the fridge! Ding ding ding!

Definitely!

This made me look at my own hinges: they’re all painted white, to match the doors and frames. The paint has worn in some spots, though, and honestly I think they’d look better if they were just silver…they’re probably brass, though. This house was built in the 80s: previous occupants took a lot of steps to de-brassify it, but there are still remnants.

Last night I watched the newest episode of In The Eye of The Storm (HBO), so when I read this my first thought was OH NO, TORNADO!!

Upon moving in I had to replace some light bulbs, and I took advantage of the opportunity to clean the glass light fixture covers. When they’re in place there’s a pretty good seal around the edges, but they still managed to collect an impressive amount of dust and dead bugs.

I love the line up! Some of my favorite roots musicians are playing there. I do feel your pain though. For years I lived about halfway between the CMA Festival and Bonnaroo which took place the same time most years. I24 was gridlocked for those of us who lived / worked in the neighborhood.

I went to my PCP appointment today (on my side of town, thank Og), then stopped at Aldi for a few things on the way home and lunched at Whataburger. I was stuffed!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

For a few years at FCD’s parents’ exchange, there was a roll of Santa toilet paper that made the rounds. No clue what eventually happened to it.

We fell short of the century mark, at least in our back yard. Highest I saw was 92 Ferrets, so yay for that. Tomorrow’s forecast has been revised down to mid-90s.

I’ll be outside scrubbing and wet-sanding the dinghy, so at least I won’t get chilled. At the moment, that’s my only plan for tomorrow. Anything else will be improvised. And I think now I’ll try to find something on BritBox to entertain me.

It’s now 7:30 p.m. and all the staff has gone home, so guess what? Yup, the AC is down again. It’s 83F in the living room. This is going to be a long night.

Thanks everyone. His instant “why would you do that” reaction really had me doubting myself.

George knows how to open doors (the jerkface learned that while we were driving from AZ) but it really doesn’t matter that much because interior doors are only decoration in our home. Exterior doors are always dead-bolted, George doesn’t know about them yet.

I haven’t picked out colors for our home since our first one. Up until now we have always just gone with what was already there and freshened it up when it started looking dingy. I’m totally changing colors in rooms here.

So, primer…I thought that you needed to prime your walls before changing colors, especially when you are going from darker to lighter. The interwebs seem to agree that good paint shouldn’t need primer on already painted walls.

What do you smart people think?

Also, we have four doors opening into the hall. Should the hall sides of the doors match the halls or the paint on the room walls?

Since we moved here, I’ve been in dozens of homes. You would think I’d have paid attention to that sort of thing, but apparently not.

Thank you  I have a small room, we shouldn’t need more than six lengths to make it work. The rest of the home will have moldings that match the baseboards.

Poor lil dude! How much longer do you have to suffer? I’ll keep sending no itching thoughts to him.

There are many good and valid reasons to adore you and this is just one of them!

That seriously sucks. I hope you are able to cool down when the sun sets.

Brief smoke break, but the air is so smoggy it’ll barely make a dent.

Good evening all. Train ride was fun and I was able to get lunch afterwards and still make it back to the hotel for the World Cup game. After that I went to Swenson’s drive-in, it’s a local place that I remember being in the same place 50+ years ago. Food was only fair but hey, it’s been around for so long that it seemed wrong to miss it.

Did not go to the movies as the timings didn’t work out, but did watch Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire on the TV, it was a bit silly and juvenile but kept me entertained, because Monsters.

Will be turning in early tonight as it’s a pretty long drive and I have to skirt around 3 big cities (Columbus, Cincinnati, and Louisville. Least I have my room down there confirmed.

Still following all your adventures and should be back in N. Ali-bama Saturday as planned.

Yesterday, it was around 30 ferrets warmer in Montana than it was in Houston. With the rain, it’s been pretty cool here. It might have hit 80F today.

A neutral third color.

Good evening. Got back from the weekly shopping a couple of hours ago. Dinner was at the Raising Cain’s, because you never, ever go to Costco hungry.

Once home, I tried on a couple of dresses to see what I wanted to wear to dinner Saturday night. (Mrs Magill gave me permission to borrow anything I wanted, provided it gets laundered.) The one I thought I wanted turned out not fitting right, but I found something to wear. I may post pictures Sunday, if I think I look okay.

Chloé and I are now hanging on the bed, watching the boob-tube.

JtC - Mrs Magill always insisted we prime the walls before painting. I would recommend painting the doors so the match the room they’re facing when closed, but I am often wrong.

Or what red said.

Our doors are all white, as is all trim. It’s how we’ve always done it.

That’s all for now. Nighty-night!

A perfect characterization. Man, that mask hinked me out!

I would be gleeful if I’d managed to get the Santa toilet paper in exchange for that mask!

I hope you find a way to get some sleep somehow. Maybe there’s a cooling trend coming your way soon…?

Things have changed a lot over the years in painting products. A lot of people just use their paint choice as their primer, too. Probably a consultation with your favorite home improvement store experts will be helpful.

I think you should paint them whatever color delights you. One of these days and at the risk of giving taters apoplexy, I’ll post a pic of the walls in my house. Let’s just say… colorful.

Or do this.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. We have another week to get through. I’m just doping dosing him with Benadryl and giving him soothing baths as often as recommended till then.

metal mouse, sounds like you’re having a pretty good time! Keep doing that!

Glad you found something suitable, Mollie! Hope you feel good enough about the results to share your pics on Sunday.

Not much new to report here. We’re hogging all the nice weather here in the PNW. I caught up on correspondence and didn’t do much else this afternoon. Decided on the Minestrone soup for dinner, so I’d best get about having that before it gets too late.

Pleasant dreams, everyone!

If you are going dark to light, yes primer, the dark colour will come through a bit. Going light to dark, you can get away without primer. Raw patches or dry wall will need primer.

Most will match doors to trim. Should you paint trim and wall the same colour then the door matches the wall of the room you are in.

Have fun! Painting is a great way to refresh or change things up.
