Hall side of doors should match the hall, inside of doors should match the room. Or the doors should stay as wood, as nature intended. If it’s too late to keep the door wood, go with some bold colors!!

Sheesh, the smoke from Canada is really thick - very visible in my headlights on the way home. Smelled like a campfire when I went to take the trash out.
Towards the end of the night, as I was cleaning the fryer area, a bug flew in. (They are a serious problem this time of year, attracted to the bright lights inside. Flies, beetles, etc.) Little mo-fo kept dive-bombing me, to the point where I was like, “Okay, are you TRYING to deep-fry yourself?!”

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 27c/80f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Fucking suck it, clouds!” However, we are leaving this morning and heading to the far south where it’s only hitting a high of 25c/76f.

Nut our recycling centre has changed its hours to 8am-4pm so no evenings and only limited weekend times too. Crazy, innit?

Yesterday I escaped from campus early and got home a little bit earlier than usual. First job of the evening was vacuuming the floors but before I could get that done, I had to take the vacuum cleaner to bits and pull out some fluff/fur that was blocking the roller from doing what it’s meant to do. Rollsuckage was accomplished, I had a shower to cool off, we decided not to cook and got a chippy tea with enough leftover chips for food today.
Up early this morning, tended to the needs of cats, got myself washed and dried, then waited for ‘im indoors to get out of bed so I could start packing my stuff for the weekend. The windows are open to get some cooler air in the house before we go, and we aren’t back until Monday evening. I’m just about ready apart from having some food, making sure the cats have extra food and the litter trays are done, putting stuff out in the kitchen for the catsitter, and emptying the bins. Then a 4hr-ish drive down to my friends’ house and a weekend of good music and great company.

YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and becomin’ cloudy around eightish this mornin’ with chances of rain in the afternoon. It didn’t rain much yestiddy and none overnight, so the plan of the mornin’ is to accomplish mowage. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS sloth. Sup will be grilled chikin, sallits, and cheddar bay bizkits cause it’s good and also easy to put together.

A friend and I are going to a park today that we both used to work at during college. I was a counselor at the Youth Camp and she worked as a Green Shirt, meaning she cleaned the outhouses. I know the manager and he’s going to let us use a cart to drive around in. The park is around 600 acres. Need to get ready soon as we’re leaving in an hour so as to take advantage of the temps before they hit high 80’s and then into the 90’s. Hope the smoke from Canadian tree fires isn’t too bad. I’m hoping to only be in the park for about 3 hours then we’ll lunch at this great brunch spot that I learned about a year and a half ago when I last visited the park.
In our last Florida house, we had one room that had to go from a deep burgundy to a light neutral. As I recall, it took 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of the final color to cover it all. That was 22 years ago, so I don’t know what today’s paints would do. One thing about my inlaws that made me crazy - they always chose paint with an eye towards selling their house. Maybe they truly liked the light, neutral colors, but the way I see it, paint is relatively cheap and easy to change, so do what you like. When it’s time to sell, you can go neutral. They spent over 20 years with off-white - I wonder if they really wanted purple or cobalt blue instead…
Starting the day with 74 Ferrets on the way to 95 or 99 depending on which site you believe. Either way, it’ll be too hot for me. I suppose I could plan to clean the basement to amuse myself. Tho I will start the day dealing with the dinghy. Once I get it all clean and sanded, we’ll work on replacing the old, rotted wood edge and the sad looking wood seats. It shouldn’t take more than a week, but projects never take as long as expected. At least we can do it at home.

Here it’s 0930-1700 on weekdays and 0800-1700 on weekends. There are (I think) 6 convenience centers in the county, some busier than others. The one we use rarely has a wait line.
No big surprise here, but my mom decided the party would go on this weekend, regardless of the weather. Originally, she said it would be canceled if it stormed, but she’s already prepped food for however many, so she and my sister would be eating leftovers for months if she called it off. I’d told her we were coming anyway since she bought sausage for me and I’m bringing her some local 'maters. Now I just need to remember to take the stuff I’m supposed to take to her.

Morning all. Have just finished breakfast (I am becoming fond of the mini-muffins most of these places serve with their free breakfast) and will shortly head Southward. Beginning to feel a bit weary, that hard work up in the Cedar Point area is wearing on me, but I have enough left to do the Mammoth Cave tour tomorrow before getting home.

Woke up to cool air. I went down to the front desk last night to see what could be done. The young woman who was on night duty was very pleasant, but clearly not really trained for urgent issues. She mumbled something about there needing to be three complaints before she could take action and I told her that it wasn’t just our apartment but rather the entire building that was having the AC problem. She seemed shocked. I told her that she needed to call someone, perhaps even the facility manager, and get someone in here to get things working again. No idea what finally transpired, but we’re back on line this morning.
Night staff don’t seem to have a clear directive as to actions they need to take and when. This needs to be addressed and I plan to take it to management today. They should have a clear check sheet that tells them exactly what to do in any given situation. Poor understanding and lack of follow-through can literally result in fatality in this sort of facility. Not to mention causing my blood pressure to turn volcanic.
Air quality is poor today.

It’s 59F and cloudy. We may see some morning showers, and it’ll remain cloudy throughout the day, with a daytime high of only 69F. However, the temperature starts climbing again tomorrow, with a high of 95F predicted for next Tuesday.
Bright Tree, yay for a less expensive pond fix! I’m sorry Ollie is so miserable; poor guy. Finally, I didn’t mean to sound, I dunno, rude about having multiple colors in a house. It’s just not for me, and I’ve done the colorful route. I just want something soothing now that is NOT beige or gray. And white or any variation thereof would just not work in a house with big, black dogs who roll in the dirt and rub up on walls.
As for primer, yes, definitely primer if you’re going from dark to light. I have a wine-colored accent wall in my great room. It was a bitch to put up, and it’s probably gonna be a bitch to cover.

I am hoping I’m not jinxing myself here, but “smoke season” hasn’t really started yet, which is surprising. There are fires, but we haven’t really had to endure much smoke, either from Canada, Oregon, or the east side. But August is almost here, so we’ll see. We’ve had some really bad smoke seasons here, and I am hoping we have a light one this year.
I know there is much more to address, but you all have been chatty these last two days!
I left my house around 5:30 on Tuesday morning and, after stopping for gas, was on my way to Oregon. I took the more scenic route when I got closer to Oregon, leaving I-5 at Kelso/Longview and heading over to the Lewis and Clark Bridge over the Columbia River to hook up with Hwy 30, over to NW Cornelius Pass Rd, then to Hwy 26, and then hopping off 26 near Route 6. It’s very bucolic where they live, lots of rolling hills, trees, and farmland.
I stopped somewhere on 30 for a quick breakfast and to kill 30 minutes. I arrived to meet up with my sister and her family around 9:00.
We hung out for a bit, then we all drove out to Seaside, Oregon, and spent some time walking the beach, checking out the shops, and having lunch. My sister and I were looking for a gallery, but we couldn’t locate one. At any rate, we had a good time, and then we headed back to the in-laws’ place, where we hung out and chatted. I left their place around 7:30 and then drove back to Hillsboro to check into my hotel. I checked out yesterday morning, was back on the road by 7:30, and was home by 10:00 a.m. It would have been sooner, but as usual, there was a big slowdown on I-5 between Lacey and DuPont. It doesn’t matter the time of day or even the day; it’s always stop-and-go, and there is never an accident.
The pups were ecstatic to see me, and I was happy to see them. Seeing all the dogs down at Seaside (very dog-friendly), made me miss them even more.
I had a great time with my sister and her family. The boys were…well, boys, with all the humor that boys that age love. But they were good, and we all had laughs.
I’m not sure what today’s plans are. Probably some cleaning, and that’s about it.
In the meantime, I need some more coffee. Please take care of yourselves, and for those of you who continue to deal with horrible heat and now smoke issues, please take extra care.
