Red forgive my forgetfulness. Where are you moving?
Catmom introduced me to Cats of San Bernardino. They don’t seem to have much on their website about it, but they take in sick, wounded, etc. cats and rehabilitate them. (Sadly, not all of them make it. ) Catmom donates to them. Farcebook reminded me that my birthday is coming up and that I can use the day to raise money for a charity. Usually I choose Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (yes, I know). This time I chose Cats of San Bernardino. So far, I’ve raised $21 ($20 plus enough to cover the processing fee) out of a $200 goal. (Of course, I donated it myself.
)
So that was my good deed for the day. Unless there’s an elderly woman who needs help crossing the street.
I had a slice of that not-very-good keto white bread I got for the colonoscopy prep for breakfast this morning, topped with margarine, a Jimmy Dean’s sausage patty, and an over-easy egg. It was pretty good, except for the bread.
This is not political, despite the characters named. I was just reading the timeline of the social media posts by Trump and Musk. And all I could think of was two middle school kids who were bestest friends suddenly turning against each other. The only thing missing is one calling the other a poopyhead!
OK. Laundry is done. House is full of the aroma of red beans and assorted ingredients cooking away. FCD just went back out to his shop - he spend the morning cleaning and came in a sweaty mess, in enough time to add his t-shirt to the last load.
I’m thinking salmon or tuna steaks for supper. Or maybe something else - we’ll see in a few hours. For now, tho, I’m going to whisk up some sugar-free fat-free pudding,
Houston.
The procedure is done. They said that I’d be sore for a few days and so far, they’re not wrong.
The Great Tennessee Air Show is making their practice maneuvers again today. I can see a lot of them from my patio, but it makes conversation a bit difficult.
Howdy Y’all! We had a good brunch and a nice ramble this mornin’. We took the old federal highway through some small towns and had ice cream at a neat little ice cream and sammich shop in large and in charge Pelham, GA. Nappage was needed when we returned to da cave. Now we are in RDOS slug mode. On the plus side, I am not so full that I won’t have room for popcorn durin’ Netflix and chill time.
ETA:
Baby Priest and his wife welcomed the latest addition to their family last night. A boy born around eleven p.m. A little whopper weighin’ in at 9lb. 5oz. I am told their three year old son is all excitated about bein’ a big brother. That’ll change in a couple of years.
“I’m taking my space ship and going home!”
“Well, I didn’t want your icky ol’ car anyhow!”
Hehehehe!
Thank you, that’s my old stompin’ grounds. I might be able to come up with a few pennies for them as well.
No pain is always a good thing when you are talking about healing. Or just in general to be honest.
I might be, what is a thatcher and what does it do? Do I need one? Suddenly I am starting to feel FearOfMissingOut.
Humpf. I am positive that you desperately needed them, you just didn’t know it at the time.
Happy Anniversary! The risk of involuntary spouseicide tends to start dropping after ten years, so you are getting close!
That is a lovely pillow, your selection of patterns and colors is wonderful.
I hope you have a wonderful day and eat at least two slices of yummy cake!
The lack of damage is the mystery. Something just pulled the daffodils up by the dying foliage. I’ll get pics in a bit, I’m not sure where my phone is ATM.
So today’s Harry news is good/bad. He was finally stable enough yesterday for them to do some pretty invasive tests and today he had bypass surgery. He’s aware enough to fuss about his breathing tube and they think they will have him walking tomorrow.
I’m not a doctor and I can’t drive ATM, but I do know how to navigate the government systems. I spent a couple of hours with Mrs Harry, showing her how to get his rehab stay and home health nurse paid for. She seemed much more settled after she understood all of her options and knows that I’ll be back to do the keyboarding for her whenever she needs me to.
I went in for my follow up appointment today and got the all clear for everything but swimming. Dangit. I can really looking forward to doing laps again. I know I complain about how boring it is but I can really feel it when all I do is sit around smoking weed and watchin’ the forest all day.
It’s worth it though. My distance vision is 20/20 and my near vision is 20/25. If it works the same for my other eye, I’ll be able to buy cute glasses online.
Where do you guys all shop? I tried buying online once but they never managed to get my focal spot right (which won’t be needed in single vision lenses) so I gave up.
So, my plan for the rest of the day and tomorrow is to start cooking up chicken thighs for tacos to hand out on parade day. I’m planning on feeding street tacos to 90 people and will have the fixings for 20 white guy tacos as well. I’ve learned how to cook Mexican food for people who aren’t used to spices. I put enough heat in to be noticed, but not enough to be felt.
White guy tacos get hamburger cooked with half a packet of taco spices.
I’m thinking that if I precook all of the meat, I can freeze it and then heat it at a fellow protestors home before going to the capital. I’ve got some sterno burners (and sterno) that I can use to keep the meat heated until it is gone. I’m not worried about leftovers, people love tacos and people love free food.
Brian, the stray? cat was hanging out in one of my deck chairs when I got home today. He is still skittish about me getting anywhere near him. He must have some good covered spot to hide in, cuz it was raining all day and he was dry.
JtC I’ve had good luck with Zenni for glasses on line. Have your eye doc give you your…umm pupillary distance. How far it is between the middle of your eyes.
You guys can laugh and point now.
Donna (probably her deceased husband) was in the habit of tossing old plant pots and what not behind the shed. Hubs has been slowly cleaning it out - he hasn’t found a car yet but he did find a wheelbarrow. He also found a couple of nice large decorative bowls.
He brought the bowls in and I thought we could put them on the gateposts and fill them with fake flowers to make it easier to see our driveway. He thought that would be a good idea too.
It’s raining. It rains a lot in West Virginia, that’s one of the main reasons we moved here.
Putting large bowls out on the gateposts here is so stoopid that I feel like leaving them there until Harry comes home just so he can make fun of me.
When I pointed out to hubs how spectacularly stoopid it was to put them out there was, he thought about it and started laughing too.
Decorative outdoor knick-nacks don’t fill up with water in the desert, they just get filled with grit and dust.
Lazy Caprese salads for dinner tonight. Instead of slices of tomato with slices of fresh mozzarella on top, with whole basil leaves on top of that, I cut everything into bite-size pieces and mixed it up in bowls; with kosher salt, California Olive Ranch olive oil, and a balsamic vinegar reduction that I’ve had waiting in the fridge. The Spousal Unit had a piece of leftover naan with hers.
I want some smoked sprats, but there are two servings in the tin and I’m not hungry enough to eat even one. There’s a tin of sardines up there too, but SWMBO doesn’t like me to eat them in the house.
That’ll happen at about 3am from the White House.
Bible study was great. Read Gods Word.
It has made my life better.
The food was pizza. I cant afford pizza but God has been providing it.
I got a text!
I show up Monday for training meeting!
Now praying I can download WhatsApp.
Congrats to Baby Priest and family!
Believe it or not, Wally World. I do shop in person though. I’m hard to fit frames to and wear trifocals and they’ve never let me down. I may seldom shop the store, but their optical shop is quality in any location in Indiana, Colorado, Tennessee and Florida that I’ve been to.
Thank you! That’s the site I have heard so much about, I was just poking around and saw some cute frames and loved their prices!
I’ve heard good things about their optical shop, but I vowed long ago to never step foot in one of their stores, so that’s not an option. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Of course he is. Keep giving him food and bring out the gooshy stuff while you are sitting outside.
Or just call the local critter rescue place and ask how to borrow a trap and arrange for fixing. He’ll come home drugged so put him in your bathroom to recover. Leave kibble and water for him but bring the gooshy fud in with you and talk to him.
Adds congrats of my own!
So, pics have been downloaded.
This is the top view of my pot of daffodils.
This is the top of a pot that had daffodils and tulips as well as hyacinths. The hyacinths are the only ones left.
And while I had my camera in my hands I took pics of the bowl that @Sticks_and_Scones saw me make. Here is the top down pic:
And here is a pic of the bottom and side.
I liked the colors when I saw it first, I’m super liking the colors now. I think that after I get my other eye done and recovered, I’m going to go back and do it again. Sticky’s colors were so much better than mine!
The Board ate my morning post. Loaded the same set again(1st time I’ve ever load the same set 2 days in the row). Management had me spinning at the end, they didn’t know whether they wanted me to finish loading, or finishing up the clerking and damages.
Up from naptime, watching the Stanley Cup finals, and having a margarita, catfish tacos, and refried beans.

to drop off a pillow that I’d made for another friend.
Nifty!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

OYKW wants a ramble so he will drive. We will ramble wherever his heart leads us I reckon.

Cool!

What he said.
Both my kids and their spouses get their glasses, many, many pairs, from Zenni and have for years. Prescription sunglasses as well (be sure to do that cause older eyes with artificial lenses implanted really need protection from all the UVs). If they aren’t thrilled with them when they try them on the kids just send them back-Zenni is good about that. Do be sure to have the doc give you your pupillary distance, it’s next to impossible to do for yourself and getting it right is important. Your latest prescription glasses will have numbers inside the frame on the bows that will tell how wide, in mm, the frame is and how many mms long the bows are. Those measurements might be helpful picking out the right sized frames on Zenni.
Good evening all. Except for the usual gym visit, it has been a relatively slothful day. The gym time was well-timed, we had a strong rain shower come through while I was exercising, but it had passed by when I was ready to leave. Still a 50-50 chance for rain tonight and tomorrow, so the soccer refereeing on Saturday is still to be decided. Just finished my last snackage of the night (pudding cups and baby carrots) so will not have anything more until tomorrow morning.
Scrolling through the MMP…
Taters, sounds like a good hike was had. And happy thatching!
FCM, I did clean my sink this evening, laundry will be sometime this week, need to get it done pre-vacation.
Coppertone, sometimes your body just needs a 8-hour nap. Enjoy your reading. And hope the job training goes without a hitch!
red, does that cost include the boxes they’ll use for packing? Still seems like a pretty good deal. And hope the pain abates soon.
Oopsie, from your comments on groceries, this is not the week to be dieting, i presume…but it does sound very tasty…
swampy, my conga-rats to Baby Priest and Mrs.Priest on the newest member of the congregation. And haven’t done a good old ramble drive in years…may have to sometime this summer.
JtC, oh dear, surgery is always worrisome, but sounds like it went well. And good on ya for helping Mrs.Harry negotiate the labyrinth of medical insurance. As for glasses (which I presume your shopping for), my eye doctor sells them, and Walmart opticlal has done well by me in the past (and just saw that is a no-go). And everyone will love the tacos, I am sure. And that is one fancy-looking bowl!

Flyboy, will have to check the Book of Faces, think I’m on your friends list and that sounds like something worth donating to.

The only thing missing is one calling the other a poopyhead!
Give’em time (albeit they may be calling a truce, but two egos that massive…)
And that’s all for now. Off to do some reading for a bit before bedtime. Take care all.

Hey! My drag name!

red, does that cost include the boxes they’ll use for packing? Still seems like a pretty good deal. And hope the pain abates soon.
I have to do the packing and unpacking. I already have some things packed using likker sto’ boxes, will likely get more and either get some free boxes from Marketplace or pick up a bundle from Lowe’s.
Sis will be heading home at the crack of dawn tomorrow. While I’ll miss having her around, it will be nice to have my home back. Granddad’s bookcase and the family scrapbooks are packed too. I’ve made the decision to leave the washer and dryer and just either find an apartment with them in it or pick up a new pair. Shit’s getting real!
Sleep issues.
Cake slice!

Cake slice!
Happy Doperversary!
