(Old) Toss it on the grill in the MMP

Of course the eye appointment is most important, but if you didn’t have to go…would you have been able to keep both dogs at once?

That’s what’s so frustrating, they are both weeds. Seriously, they grow anywhere…even in ditches, LOL!!!

Of course, pot seeds are bigger than catnip/catmint seeds and are easier to handle and toss where you want them, but scattering mint seeds on a bad neighbor’s lawn is a time proven revenge tacit. Except for me, none of my bad neighbors had lawns and I can’t grow it from seed.

Grumbles.

I’m really glad you are so much improved, it sounded pretty not-fun.

You are so very sweet. I used to know a nurse who once told me that the night shift always got forgot when the families were handing out treats, but were also the ones who were there when their loved ones crashed in the early hours of the morning.

I never forgot that so whenever I had someone in the hospital, I always made sure that the night nurses got their own treats instead of trusting that the day and evening shifts would leave something nice for them.

Hubs went out this evening and mowed our side of the gully. He said he got guilted into it by seeing someone on the other side of the gully out with a push mower. He’ll get that side in the morning.

Back in AZ, we had salespeople knock on our door at least weekly. I wasn’t mean, I would open the door, let them start talking and once I figured out what they wanted would say “No thanks” and close the door. We haven’t had anyone at our door here.

I do know our neighbors by face and name because Harry made sure to take us around and introduce us, plus we had that nice July 4th block party. Other than that, we don’t really talk to them. When they are out, we will wave and make small talk but Harry’s the only one who wants to lean on the fence and gossip. Everyone is nice enough, but we all have our own lives to live.

Remember, that water gun in your hand won’t go through your neighbor’s wall and get their cat wet, so go wild!!!

Up from naptime. It’s raining. I’m having a Jungle Bird, Baked Fried chicken, cheesy N.O.T. s and a salad.

Air Bud: Supreme Court Lawyer

They’re in Whatcom, Skagit, Island, Snohomish, and King Counties.

Yeah, Tennessee had to write out Schedule II stuff for a few years, but now, they just e-scribe them along with everything else. If they send them to the wrong pharmacy though, the doctor / PA / NP has to send another to the right one instead of the pharmacy transferring it.

Could it be ground hogs? They’ll do some serious damage to a garden. Conibear traps are both humane and effective.

Sis and I got the clothes closet cleaned out, more likker sto’ boxes and donations taken to Goodwill. Next week, I will begin the process of formally separating from the irkplace, setting up the pension and 201k disbursements, setting up one extra month after my lease is up, hiring movers and doing some more packing. That’s a lot of lists to be made.

Late night final. Have done little since my last posting except internet and watch the last 12 seconds of the NBA game (because why watch the first 47:48>). Heading off to bed shortly. Chance of rain tomorrow is down to 47%, but we’ll see what it’s like tomorrow morning.

Pilot, will have to take them off when I get to England, I have my visa approved by them, but the picture I have to match is one without my glasses on. Such is life. And my eyes are so bad, not a good bet I’d be able to distinguish the person’s face at all…

red, just remember, progress is being made.

And nearing 11pm, so off to bed. Catch up with y’all on Firday.

Dinner down the beach was good. As usual, Mrs. L.A. had two Hemingway daiquiris, and I had two negronis. We both had cheeseburgers, hers with Swiss and mine with cheddar, with side salads instead of fries. I had my burger w/o a bun and ate it all. Mrs. L.A. cut her burger in half, and said I could have the other half for lunch tomorrow. Hun, the owner (or related to the owner – I’m not sure which) asked if there was anything special about our coming to eat on Thursdays. We said it was to avoid Friday-night crowds.

We still have the TJ’s basil plant, and we have a balsamic g=vinegar reduction and fresh mozzarella. I suggested Caprese salads for dinner tomorrow.

It’s 2100, so I guess I’d better brush my teeth and hit the rack.

Ye gods, I’m just beat.

We had a late start - the dough roller was, like, twenty friggin’ minutes late, which means a lot of standing around twiddling thumbs & then last-minute scrambling - and ALSO a late close, cuz Grandma Co-worker may be a sweetheart, and damn good at some aspects of her job (the ones I suck at, incidentally) but she moves at the speed of cold molasses on closing duties.

And stops whatever she’s doing to regale with “fascinating” stories about her grandbabies.

Me: :expressionless_face:

Sat down on a sauce bucket in the back kitchen for a sec, and must’ve looked .. well, just how I felt … because I heard a concerned “Are you okay?”

Me: “I. Am. Weary.”

Coworker: :face_with_raised_eyebrow: “You … feel … weird?”

Me: “No. I am weary. I am TIRED. I just needed to sit my ass down for a sec.”

… { beat }

Me: “I was too specific. ALL of me needed to sit down for a sec.”

I have been given to understand that her hips do not, in fact, lie.

My burfday is Saturday, and S.M. has promised me a homemade strawberry cake! I am so excited. :strawberry:

She made a lemon cake (with homemade buttercream frosting) for someone else on the crew a coupla weeks ago, and it was SOO FRIGGIN’ GOOD so I can’t wait for mine.

You could tell she used lots of real lemon juice and zest, that cake was potently lemon-y. In a good way!

One of the nice things about this place - everyone on the crew gets a proper fussin’-over for their burpday.

Anyway, it was a tiring day and I think I have just enough left in me to take a much-needed shower.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. When I came out, there was a half eaten corpse on the living room floor. Of a bug. Glad Spot is not much of a kisser.

:birthday:

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Instead of the fucking weather, do you want to talk about that one time you were forced to fucking wear diapers?” Err…no, thank you, I’ll stick with weather talk.

He could go either way, depending on the subject! I think sometimes it’s more that he discounts other people’s experiences. For example, he needs to change trains in the Big City Station which usually means changing platforms. Yesterday he needed to get from P5 to P6, which are, strangely enough, next to each other, but he missed his train from P6 because he took extra time having to go through the ticket barriers. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve told him to hoof it to the back end of the plaform and use the stairs because you can get to all the plaftorms that way without going through any barriers. I regularly do this, and can get from P2 to P12 in less than two minutes. But no, he ignored that because he knows better.

Sounds like you have a fun night planned  I hope you get to do everything you intended!

Almost - they use panini rolls instead, and the accent’s more Yam Yam than French

A favourite one round our way is the guys who have allegedly been doing someone’s driveway and have some tarmcac left over so do we want a discounted job done on ours? Oh, the one that’s been block-paved already and just needs the weeds removed? Yeah, right.

Congrats on the award, and for making a difference! It’s always nice to be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear about Fluffy, it’s always tough to lose a beloved pet especially in such circumstances. I am happy that she has a loaner cat too, and they are both making each other happier. Muffin is technically a loaner cat for us, she needed a home and we had space, but she’s not the right cat for us so once we manage to get her to at least be civil to other people, we can start looking for the right home for her. Otherwise she’ll just become a long-term foster.

Yesterday the heavens opened just as I was about to leave the office so I stayed and had a chat with the girl from our operations team. She showed me the new tattoo design she’s having done on Sunday, it’s a really pretty layout of sweetpeas. Her favourite tattoo artist who is based in Korea will be in London and she’s managed to get an appointment so she’s very excited about that.

Made it to the station during a break in the downpour, the train was only a few minutes late and I made it to my next train without any bother. Got home at a decent time for a change, did my home chores, then waited for 'im indoors to tell me what time I should collect him from the station. That should necessitate one single text message, not about a dozen.

Today’s commute was not bad either, bus was on time and I got to my local station with five minutes to spare before the train arrived, and I had about the same amount of time to get to the next train at Big City Station. The rain’s stopped and the sky is brightening. We have our student record system back on today so I might even get some work done.

Yesterday was mine and MusicMan’s 9th anniversary and to celebrate he went back to full duty work. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: But, he has a four day weekend next week due to VA appointments, so we will celebrate then. Our big exciting dinner last night was subs from Sheetz. My steak sub was quite tasty.

During the day, my mom and I traveled up to Hartville to meet a friend for breakfast. Then we went to a thrift store and I spent $17.87 on things that I don’t really need. After that we went to Akron, specifically Ellet (reference for MetalMouse) to drop off a pillow that I’d made for another friend. Then, the actual reason for the whole trip was to stop in Uniontown and pick up my GLP-1 from the compounding pharmacy.

Today my stupid knee is damn cranky. It’s the worst that it’s been in a long time. Next time I get up I’m going to grab some Aleve and hope that it helps. I’ve got lots to do today and I don’t need it slowing me down. This afternoon I have a virtual interview for a teaching position that sounds very interesting to me. I hope it goes well.

Ok, time to go find breakfast and feed the hungry poodle.

Good mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and partly cloudy. Due to a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for snausage gravy and bizkits on my part, we will be bears who brunch at Pearly’s. OYKW wants a ramble so he will drive. We will ramble wherever his heart leads us I reckon. The rest of the day will be spent in high RDOS inactivities. Any other need to feed will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to purtify. The day awaits! HUZZAH!

Happy Firday Y’all!

I wonder if anyone has ever done a study about moving - and at what age help from friends for pizza and beer stops. We moved the inlaws from Ocala using a UHaul truck, including a trailer to take the car. Once we got here, Daughter and SIL became our primary muscle. Same with moving MIL from one apt to another and then to here. I’m pretty sure if it we didn’t have “the kids” to help, we’d have hired muscle. FCD and I are looooong past the wrestle-the-mattress-into-the-truck stage. Surely there’s a masters’ thesis out there somewhere…

I was surprised when we were told to remove our specs for our last passport pics. But I guess it makes sense - easier to remove them then try to find some if you go to contacts, or if you change your frames.

We’ve not been confronted with that, but we did have a guy ask if we wanted our drive repaired/redone. Actually, we’d love to, but until someone leaves a suitcase full of money on our porch, that ain’t gonna happen. In fact, we’d replace the porch before the driveway!

Looks like we have a chance of a very soggy weekend. My yard will be happy. Consequently, that means lots of grass to mow. (Which reminds me - the gas cans all need to be refilled. Add to errand list…) Today, of course is laundry day. I’m also going to have a go at a slow-cooker batch of red beans (to be served over rice.) Hope I saved the recipe I found. (Yes, I did!)

I changed the No Kings protest I was going to attend. Instead of driving all the way to LaPlata, there’s going to be one in Solomons, which is where we keep the boat. It’s closer and scheduled for not nearly as long. So that’s good. I don’t know that I could handle 4 hours, not to mention the parking situation.

But that’s next week. Speaking of which, I get the kids on Thursday. Weds is the last day of school, and while SIL has off Firday, the grandspawn need supervision on Thurs, so I agreed to take them. Must decide - will lunch be mac-n-cheese or pasta? Or rolled sammiches. I’ll figure it out, I’m sure.

Meanwhile, must get the red beans started.

Happy Firday!!

Good morning all. The Firday shopping has been done early, Breakfast has broken my fast, and it’s bright and clear outside, so a good start to the morning, but there is a 50/50 chance of rain today, tonight and tomorrow, so probably will get some raindrops between now and then. Nothing much on the agenda, so will sweat at the gym and sloth in the house for the balance of the day.

Shoe, an early happy near-completion of another orbit of the sun.

Happy (belated) Anniversary, Sticky Buns! And yeah, Ellet, Bucthel, Garfield…remember a lot of those places. And hope the knee behaves for you. And good luck on the interview.

Happy Brunching, swampy

FCM, got a lot of cracks in my driveway, but it’ll be a couple years before I’m ready to commit that kind of money for getting it torn out and replaced, probably the year before i decide to move out. Happy protesting.

And my belly is now full so on with the Firday internettin’ and will catch up with y’all later.

Mornin’ all - a couple hours after sunrise here on a day with a layer of high thin cirrus and otherwise clear. Here’s hoping that holds up into the evening; really don’t want rain any time between ~3pm and midnight. NWS sez 82/28 now with a high of 89/32 and upcoming overnight low of 77/25.

Meant to offer congrats earlier to @Misnomer for her reward. Even better that she got something tangible, not just a pat on the back in front of her coworkers.

Happy almost birthday there Shoe.

Onward into the RDOS du jour! Cheers!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 59°F and mostly sunny outside. Our expected high temperature is 82°F, with a mix of clouds and sun.

Congrats on your recognition, Oopsie!

Belated anniversary wishes, Sticky.

It sounds like you have a nice weekend lined up, Pilot.

Yay for homemade strawberry cake, shoe! That sounds delicious!

I hope everything goes well today, Nellie!

I went here Wildlife Refuge yesterday. I walked about five miles total with my friend, and it was awesome. We saw many species of birds, a deer, a big ol’ turtle, and various insects. The tide was very low, so we didn’t see seals. I plan to do so when the tide is higher and during multiple migrations. At any rate, the weather was beautiful, and my face became a little sun-kissed. After our long walk, we continued south and had lunch at an Italian restaurant.

I posted some pictures on Facebook again. They were all phone pics, and for the first time in a long time, I longed for a real camera with a good telephoto lens. There were many serious birders and photographers present.

I’ll work in the yard again today, and try out my new thatcher. I know; sooooooooo exciting! I’ll bet you’re all jealous!

That’s pretty much the extent of my plans. Welp, it’s time for some more coffee and then I need to get my hiney in gear! You all take care.

I had to run to Food Lion, so when FCD went to McD’s for his morning fountain soda, I rode along and got the stuff I needed for the red bean batch. Since getting home, I’ve gotten the first load in the washer, got the red beans, etc, in the slow cooker, emptied then refilled (partially) the dishwasher, and scrubbed the sink. Go me!! I also set several reminders on Alexa - my auxiliary brain. Since I can’t hear the washer, there are reminders for when each load should be done. I also created reminders to stir the beans as well as one for when it should be done. (6-ish this evening, I think.)

Guess I’ll squeeze some RDOS time in between laundry loads. Of course, as soon as I get comfy in my recliner, the first load will be done…

Accidentally slept for 9 hours without getting up to take my thyroid pill.
I went to the bathroom only to have difficulty getting it out.
This has happened before so now trying to drink a lot of water.
I am never thirsty and water tastes blah by itself so must eat chocolate with it.
Not going out until my bus passes come in the mail.
Bible study later ( food provided).
I have 7 books to read so call this lazy summer day.

That’s something that I’ve missed doing with SIL since both of us have been laid up and something that I’ll miss once I move.

I actually looked into how much it would cost to hire a U-Haul for the move (I would have hired muscle on either end to load and unload) and the U-Haul alone came to ~$200 less than the pro movers. With the U-Haul, I would have had to hire muscle at an hourly rate and a few other incidentals that would have made it more expensive. With the pros, I’ll have a 7-12 day wait for my stuff to get there (I’ll stay with Sis and BIL), but none of us geezers will have to schlep anything. I’m going to take my electronics in my car and spend one night in a motel, but other than that, it should only cost ~$3500, if that, since I’m not taking my washer and dryer (my top apartment picks have them already in unit and if I get a place with just a hook up, I’ll check out Marketplace).

Congrats on your recognition, oopsie!

Up, breakfasted and caffeinated. At this point, I’m on my 3 hour fast before my spinal injection.

Sis is getting a lot of things loaded in her car so’s she can bug out early tomorrow morning. It’s been good having her here, but it will be good to have my apartment to just me and Nelson too. I’m hoping that the top pick of apartments checks out. At that point, I can begin getting things wrapped up in Tennessee.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’ve gotten in the habit of having Wegmans delivered (via Instacart) on the first weekday that I work from home, and today is no exception: the bags just arrived. I usually need at least bananas by this time of the week, plus I really like one of their deli sandwiches. Today I got those, plus some laundry detergent, paper towels, and Lean Cuisines. For snacks/weekend supplies I also got a small tub of their penne mozarella salad, some “lightly salted” wavy Lays, Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars (dulce de leche), and a 5-pack of store-brand peanut butter cookies. I should be good for the next few days.

The weekend indulging will intensify tomorrow: I’m meeting an old friend for lunch, at a place two doors down from a Great Harvest bakery. Everything they make is amazing, but their scones are a particular favorite. So not only am I looking forward to having a yummy grilled cheese and fries while catching up with my friend, I also can’t wait to bring home some berry cream cheese and cinnamon chip cream cheese scones (and likely one or two of their dog cookies).

It’s now been 9 days since my toenail was removed: there’s no real pain, but there’s some soreness when I’ve been in stop-and-go traffic or walking around a lot…my toe is glad that I’m working from home/not going anywhere today! I think I’ll still be wearing open-toed shoes all of next week.

I should finish the Sherlock Holmes book nook (Lego) tonight or tomorrow; of course, I’ll share photos when it’s done. Next up will be the Hogwarts Express book nook, then the Balrog book nook. I’m ridiculously happy about having so many sets to build.

OK, time to get to a few replies so I can eat lunch before my afternoon meetings start…

But much less cute… :joy:

Ha!!

Ooooo, that’s gorgeous!

Post bio-break sleep was full of odd, disturbing dreams. But I guess any sleep is better than no sleep.

I really like the background fabric (the butterflies) very pretty choice!
