There was a package outside the door this morning. Amazon is delivering as early as 0400. It said ‘FRAGILE’, so Mrs. L.A. shook it.
She opened it and said, ‘Oh, it’s a birthday present.’ I know she bought me some stinkum, but I don’t remember what kind.
Morning all. Up at 6am to micturate then went back to bed until nearly 8am and am trying to catch up with the day. Did the one thing I had on my list (pay credit card bill) so the rest of the day will be of my own devising. Another hot one, high due to be near 86F, so staying indoors will be the most practical.
flyboy, always interested in your anal probe . glad it was a good result..and a happy sometime-soon birthday.
nellie, happy haircut day! And keep getting better.
red, lots of paperwork in the next couple of weeks, but it will be worth it to join the distinguished RDOS group…And that sounds like quite a bookcase, one to be treated gently and with care.
Sticky Buns, best wished to Annie and you.
swampy, training the next generation, eh? Still, it was a good thing you did.
FCM, hope you keep healing up, no playing with the flower for a little while…and it took me nearly 6 months to lose 20lbs and I was trying to; I concur, I weigh myself once a week at the gym at the same general time (=/- a couple of hours) so I have something consistent. Hope the cruise brings back some appetite, or he’s asking for problems, IMHO.
That immediately reminded me of this cartoon…https://www.pinterest.com/pin/this-rejected-new-yorker-comic-comes-from-the-best-of-the-rejection-collection-293-cartoons-that-were-to--134263632616976072/
Coppertone, that’s getting close to reportable (albeit I don’t know who it would get reported too) IMHO, for older folks that can be downright dangerous.
rocky, happy stationary day and best wishes to Lager.
And it’s now time for an early lunch with soup and sammich, so have a good day all.
Back from erranding - gas was $2.699 with my new app discount. How pathetic that I get excited over saving maybe $3…
I’m about to make some lunch, then I’m thinking I’ll head out to the yard, far from the azaleas, and attack another chore I thunk up. Woohoo!
Moderating:
I don’t like to moderate the MMP threads, but we do have a rule that if the term, “bitch,” is used in a way derogatory to females, we don’t want you to use it. Three times it has cropped up in this thread with this meaning. Let’s not make it four. Thanks.
the contacts i wore way back when did not correct for astigmatism. i wasn’t too fazed with not having it corrected. i did have a pair of glasses that were just for astigmatism , they were transition lenses, so i could use them indoors and out.
astigmatism correction is touchy. it has to be super correct or your world will go haywire.
So I was loading on 200 Middle Blue today. A light set compared to some. I’m now back on Metro, since apparently Falls River snatched another person off Metro.
Also
This is not how it works.
This is not how any of this works.
“Side chick”
I’ve seen dishes that deserved to be scoffed at.
The same thing I do when the local doesn’t work for skin biopsies. Hurt.
Darn, I haven’t listened to Fishbone in years.
Fed, exercised, Wordled and puzzled 'til I’m blind. Sunny today, but still poor air quality from smoke.
Apologies. I did not write or name the song.
No, you didn’t, but your meaning was clear. Thanks for the apology.
Are going to need to institute a Naughty Corner in thr MMP?
“Shotgun!!”
I VOLUNTEER!
I’m reminded of the Judge Roy Bean apology to the wives, which I won’t quote here, but here’s a link to it (second quote down).
Good morning.
It’s 57°F and cloudy right now. We had some very early morning rain, so I won’t need to water posies today. Our expected high temperature is only 68°F and it’s supposed to be cloudy all day.
Other than watering the flowers and pulling up a couple of tiny weeds, I didn’t do much of anything yesterday. I reached out to a couple of former co-workers, and we’re making plans to meet for lunch. I’m meeting one of them this Saturday, and am waiting on a date and time from the other. It’ll be nice to catch up with them. In both cases, I’ll be down near Nellie’s neck of the woods because one lives in Lewis County, so we decided that area is halfway for us. The other lives in T County, but we’ve made tentative plans to meet at the Wildlife Preserve and then go to lunch, so that necessitates me going down that way.
Nellie, I hope you’re feeling well enough to get your hair done-did today.
Johnny, I’ve been following that story, too. Those poor little girls; how terrified they must have been!
FCM, I hope FCD can come around. But, while I understand your worries about all the temptations on the cruise, I hope you both can let yourselves live a little and have some nibbles in moderation. Also, I hope you heal up quickly.
JtC, it’s good to know it wasn’t a stroke for Harry.
red, you and sis are making serious progress!
I posted pics of some of my work in the gardens and planters on the book of faces yesterday. There’s a lot more to do, both in the front and back; that work is back-breaking. The slope in the back is essentially fill dirt filled with rocks and giant tree roots from the trees behind my yard. The front requires the removal of four shrubs. I bought these Hillside Planters as a start. I figure it’s easier right now to hack out smaller holes than to try to build tiers, which require much more digging. We’ll see how they work.
I’m not sure what’s on the agenda today. I might run to the nursery, but I also need to stop by Costco for some paper towels and toilet paper. And, once I’m inside Costco, well…I need to wander the aisles to see what’s new, so I know I’ll come home with more than just paper products.
Okay, I need to get my day started. I’ve putzed around for far too long. Take care.
Home from the colonoscopy. Eight benign polyps found. Had ginger ale and Lorna Doones in recovery. I just had scrambled eggs and toast. Yummy. Doggio WTH is that picture?
FCM my sister lost over 20 pounds when her husband with Parkinson’s decided they needed to move to L A (lower Alabama). Everything, and I mean everything, fell on her shoulders. Not eating was something she could control.
Turns out the chore I thunk up was unnecessary. Before PJ put down the gravel along the side of the driveway, he did put landscape cloth under it. Unfortunately, so much stuff has fallen and rotted in among the gravel, all kinds of stuff started growing there. I was going to clean that out, but instead, I took spectracide to the unwanted growth.
While I was out there, I took 2 buckets of dirt that had been sitting by the shed and I dumped them into a hole that somehow developed in the middle of the yard. I kept finding it when I mowed. Well, now it’s a big, soggy brown spot that should soon be grassed over,. No more ca-chunks as I mow.
I also watered one small garden patch, then moved the sprinkler to get the azaleas in front of the garden shed. It should dissolve the food into the soil and feed those plants. They’re not the ones that attacked me, so they deserve water and food. OK, all the others got water and food, but some got cussed at.
FCD finally got an estimate on the fuel tanks - it came in lower than the first estimate we got, so HUZZAH! And they should be ready when we get home.
Now time for chillage.
Especially since their modes of death sound horrible. They died of asphyxiation, and there were plastic bags and zip-ties found.
Got a bunch of crap done, including pre-registering for Friday’s procedure (over an hour to fill out!1!), challenging a charge to my debit card and raising hell with the :snerk: STD outfit (found out what the hold up was and it is being corrected). Now to make my top five apartment selections for Sis to check out when she goes back to Houston.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Ya beat me~I had only 3, also benign but that week’s wait to hear is a beast.
There are many causes for such holes. Two of the less happy ones are sewage system leak and domestic water supply leak. Lawn sprinkler leak is third possibility, but you probably don’t have those.
Yeah, it might be a natural result of a caved-in animal burrow or even freeze-thaw and a good-sized rock. But that is not the way to bet. At least not in suburbia. You have enough land that becomes less likely. But not zero likely.
If the hole recurs, or stays wetter than surroundings as we get into late spring & summer, I’d get a plumber on the case, not a gardener.
