(Old) Toss it on the grill in the MMP

And a good evening to you all. Spent a fair amount of the afternoon on various exercise machines, so awarded myself at trip to Dairy Queen for a Brownie and Oreo Confection, which was quite tasty. Then came home and had a Cheeseburger, so I ended up putting the dessert before the burger, but heck, I’m 72 and allowed to do things like that. Am now resting and will take the garbage out in a little bit. Mowage is planned for tomorrow, may do the front yard in the morning (the sun is behind the roof) and the back yard in the evening (same thing, just different positioning–celestial mechanics is a wondrous thing…).

And systems set for scrolling in 3…2…1

doggio, from the picture it appears to be a small motorized transport cart attached to the rolling cart. Query?

Taters, enjoy the get-together(s).

Wet one, what a wonderful word ‘benign’ is.

FCM, had some trees removed from my yard over 20 years ago and still have to depressions in my back yard that even adding soil too doesn’t seem to cure. Hope your cure works out well. And good news on the fuel tanks.

And no rolls from Texas Roadhouse? Heresy!!

red, sounds like a productive day…I still dimly remember having those…

Truth.

I remember a line from a Science Fiction novel I read, a woman on a crew of a rebellious starship blows up 20 “bad guys” starships due to some creative programming and when everyone looks at her, she smiles and says:

Oopsie, somedays I’m like that; sleep 6 hours and feel fine, then the next day sleep 8 hours and feel loggy…bodies, like cats, is weird. Hope the meeting and traffic mesh well tomorrow.

JtC, enjoy your needling. And as for the plants, oh deer…

And that’s all to report. Do some internettin’ and readin’ before bedtime, so take care all.

Up from naptime, having a martini and watching The Stanley Cup Finals. Dinner tonight is meatballs and cheese tortellini with homemade sauce.

HUZZAH!

< The CIA dislikes this >

Somebody stuck a 600lbs. electric tug on a push cart. Which if it needs fixing, and is easier to reach when raised is fair. But somebody welded the 2 together with the silver metal posts.

Yay!

Left the A/C on so the house was cool enough for me to turn on the oven AND enjoy a hot cuppa Earl Grey.
Waiting for my chicken thigh on onions to finish baking, gonna add a roll or two to the oven in a sec.
Already snarfed a slice of garlic toast while waiting.

Monkey was extremely concerned when I got home from closing, that his food bowl was empty, and was quite vocal about his complaints to management, but that situation has been remedied AND he got some gooshy-fud to make up for the emotional distress.

Also adding some gooshy-fud AND kibble to the next online delivery order, but { shhh! } don’t tell him!

The Walmart nearby is remodeling and I got word from Grandma Co-worker that the pet stuff is aaaallllllll the way in the back now, so fuck that noise.
Delivery it shall be.

Whelp { slaps thighs in Midwestern } the ratties are rattling their water bottles like prison inmates, so I guess I gotta see to them.

Oh yeah, I ordered flax seeds for the ratties with my last stuff, shit ain’t cheap - the things we do for our critters.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

It is also chicken thigh night. GMTA

As in empty empty? Good Lord, he should sue you for emotional damage!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/54f with a predicted high of 16c/61f and with rain showers. Weather app says “Do you fucking wish you were a duck? It’s fucking raining!” Yes, it’s raining, and it is very grey out there. I even had to wear a hoodie to campus today.

How dare she! I hope you gave her The Look

Very easily! I have one of those at home, and of course, because he’s so much smarter than me, he can’t conceive of me ever being right about something. He does think he’s the acknowledged expert on everything, especially things he knows nothing about. But he has his uses, so I keep him around.

{{{{{nellie}}}}} I’m glad your fever’s done, and I hope you had a long sit down after all that effort. You need to rest instead of throwing yourself into stuff.

Tacos are always a big hit in our house too. We have a food place in town called “Hello Tacos” that are apparently famous French tacos. What do the French know about tacos? The pics on their menu board suggest that a French taco is in fact a panini with fries stuffed in it.

Last night was enjoyable, went home and completed cat duty, made dinner and then went to the pub with my friends. They’d been out for an early birthday meal the night before and had called in at a pub we don’t often go to. It’s been refurbished recently and they hadn’t been in there since it reopened…so they decided that’s where they wanted to go again last night. And so we did. It was fun, the pub’s very nice, and it had a good selection of beers. There were even a couple of stouts and porters for a change, as one of them is very fond of darker beers.

I got home just before 11pm, gave the cats their treats, and went to bed. Didn’t sleep all that well either, so I am tired this morning. Today’s commute was not too bad, I planned on catching later than usual trains, and one of them was delayed but didn’t cause any real problems because I would have had 15 minutes to wait for the connection at Big City Station.

I am not sure what to do with myself today, our main student record system is unavailable all day due to scheduled maintenance, and pretty much all our work at the moment requires that system. So I’m attending a sharepoint webinar this morning, and I may have to write up the minutes from yesterday’s dept meeting just to stave off boredom.

They did ours last year, and the pet food is now near the butter and yogurt and eggs, between the groceries and the paper goods (like napkins and TP.) They also rearranged the personal goods, like toothpaste and shampoo and such. I don’t go there that often, so it’s always a challenge. Lucky for me I’m a RDOS so I can waste time searching.

boofae speaks Truth! abide by her wisdom!

I’ve got about an hour to kill before I need to leave for my Dr appt. I’m going to have the nurse measure me - curious if I’ve shrunken any further. I also need to put a bug in her ear about one of FCD’s meds - he’ll run out on cruise and he’s out of refills. I hope she can write a prescription for him (or just zap it to the pharmacy. Does anyone write them out any more??)

Not sure what will happen after that. There’s a slight chance of showers later today, but I may be able to dash out between drops and take a bunch of stuff to the thrift store.

And I want to contact the cruise line and find out about catching the bus from Heathrow to Dover. Specifically, where do we meet and what time.

So, Happy Thursday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and partly sunny with a predicted high of 86 with rain this afternoon. Fine by me if it rains as I don’t plan to leave da cave today. I have peopled too much this week and need some hermit time. Sup shall be steak, sallit and cheesey garlic bread. Easy and one of our favorite meals especially in Summer.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

You gonna toss that steak on the grill?

I suppose I should think about supper so I can thaw something.

Mornin’, mornin’.

It’s 53°F and cloudy as I type this. The clouds will give way to partial clearing and sunny skies by afternoon, and our expected high temperature is 79°F.

I had rosemary chicken thighs last night. Seems that was the choice du jour for dinner.

My husband started making noises last night about not going on my outing today. That’s his choice. I still plan to go, even if he doesn’t. We need to leave around 9:00 a.m. to get there, so he doesn’t have much time to decide. I plan to get in the shower around 7:00 a.m., thus giving him some time to sleep before he needs to shower.

After the outing, I plan to come home and tend to the posies.

I sure hope you’re feeling much less tired today, Nellie.

Nice work on feeding the protestors, JtC! That’s very kind of you.

My name is just old-fashioned enough that, even as I grew up, I never found a key chain, fake license plate, or anything with my name on it. And, if I ran into someone with the same name as me, they were always 20 to 30 years older than I was.

Yay for all the good medical news!

I didn’t work very hard yesterday. I washed all the bedding and the towels, and did a little bit of purging.

Okay, I need to finish my coffee. I hope you all have a good day.

Sounds like the Marseilles version of a hotdog. A thin sausage stuffed into a roll with fries. Pretty good, actually.

Up way too early, but that’s what happens when one goes to sleep at 9p.m. I think I’ll make a fried potato with sausage and onion topped with fried egg breakfast.

We’re still waiting for the crappy air quality to clear off. Sunny and hazy this morning. Sadie likes the sunny part and is basking on her perch in front of the window.

Went to a talk about herbs yesterday by a local master gardener. I knew much of what she talked about, but it was interesting anyway.

I checked on our tomato plant. It’s looking very robust after the rain, but we need to trim off the lower branches to encourage upper growth. Lots of flower buds on it.

Is he a specialist? A specialist learns more and more about less and less, until eventually he knows everything about nothing. A generalist, on the other hand, learns less and less about more and more, until eventually he knows nothing about everything.

Or the Toulon version of a hamburger. Do the folks in Marseilles put their sandwiches in a press and flatten them? They do in Toulon – looks something like a miniature version of an old-fashioned steam press, like the one Del Floria used to let agents into UNCLE headquarters. We called them “smashed sandwiches”.

Doesn’t seem to matter what time I go to bed – the cats will wake me up between three and four. Sometimes I do manage to get back to sleep…

Morning all. Up about 6am and feeling pretty good. Mowage is the major activity of the day, will do the front yard when it gets a little later (I don’t think the neighbors would appreciate my mower at 7:30am) and maybe do a little (gasp!) housecleaning, but we’ll see. Have broken fast with a big bowl of Corn Flakes, followed by a couple of pudding cups, so the morning calorie binge is complete. Supposed to be a nice day with highs around 87F (71F right now), so the afternoon will be divided between sloth and sweating at the gym. Need to put together the FIrday shopping list, like FCM I need to start planning for my vacation, I leave in about 10 days and want to try and use up all the stuff that could spoil (bread, milk, fruits) while I am gone without throwing anything out…going to be tricky.

doggio, thanks for the explanation, I thought it looked like that but figured it was a shipment somewhere that hadn’t been prepared properly. I’m sure whoever did it though it was a good idea at the time…

shoe, poor starving Monkey! And my lips are sealed (psst, hey Monkey, guess what!?!)

boo fae, never heard of French Tacos, it sounds more like a Shawarma that a taco.

FCM, I haven’t had a paper prescription in years, they have my Walgreens site in their system so just punch it in and send it to them. No problems to date. And yeah, get the bus details soonest, Heathrow has several terminals and they are pretty large and not all that easy to get from one to another, so make sure you check it out and leave yourself enough time. National Express runs buses but they take 5 hours and require a change of buses. Trains are 2.5 hours but you have to change from Underground to a train in London, so using the cruise line service is your best bet, IMHO.

swampy, enjoy hermiting.

Taters, enjoy your outing, with or without a side of Husband…

cookie, hope you get clear skies soon. Happy tomatoing.

And onward to the morning internetin’ and webcomic reading (one of them updates only on Thursday). Take care all.

Bought and paid for. I’m pretty sure it’ll depart from terminal 5 since that’s apparently where international flights come it. Our hotel as at T4, but we’ll use the shuttle both ways and we should have tons of time. But I still want to know when and where with plenty of time to spare.

Back from the Dr. She was running late, but being RDOS, it didn’t matter much. I came home to an empty house - no clue where FCD has gone. Guess I could call him… ya think?

I finally found a key chain with my name on it in London at one of the tacky souvenir shop. It says “keep calm Paula.”

The air quality is not great here in no. Illinois from the wildfires. An “air pollution action day” is in effect til midnight. I think I will stay home after a grocery store run. My sinuses are feeling it.

The fawn has moved on. Probably strong enough now to hang with mom. It was a fun few days, but it’s nice to have the yard back.

Yesterday was a stormy day. There wasn’t really any tornado threat predicted, but it’s St. Louis in 2025, so of course there was. Not much damage as far as I understand, but it’s getting exhausting.

No particular plans for most of today. Concert tonight with the symphony chorus.

Now for caffeine.

Speaking of names, we had a friend in Florida named Sabrina. She said the only Sabrinas she ran into were elderly black women.

Just made a blueberry compote. I like to toss extra blueberries into my yogurt, but I kinda over-bought, so the compote will serve the same purpose and I don’t have to toss spoiled berries. Recipe says it can be frozen - that will work if I don’t eat it all before we leave.

Dishwasher is washing. FCD is in his shop. I think I’ll strip the bed - fresh sheets sounds like a plan.

That does sound familiar, but that was many years and many brain cells ago.

When you get close, buying milk by the quart or pint and half loaves of bread are good options (or do as I do and let the bread live in the freezer and just toast it). Make sure that you buy fruit and veggies by the individual piece for the last week.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, KP done and Sis sent off to the liquor sto’ for boxes.

Today, we’ll finish going through my clothes closet and dresser to determine what gets taken. I foresee a bunch of socks going to someone I know who works with unhoused folks and I’m going to try on every pair of jeans and capris to avoid taking any that don’t fit.

After that, we’ll binge our latest show, Dr Who 2024 and do some crafting.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

My lovely wife and her sister are cruising in the UK later this year and decided on the cruise transportation so they won’t have to wrangle luggage or deal with possible transit gum-ups or strikes.

Mornin’ all - a bit after noon as I join the fray.

Got up predawn and for the first time in several days got to directly see the sun first thing. Over the morning it’s slowly been becoming thinly overcast way up high, so a smooth light gray light casting no shadows.

Car was ready so I drove their loaner back and retrieved my car. What had started out as fixing a screw in a tire has morphed into a decent divot out of my wallet, but it was gonna happen pretty soon anyhow, and this saves me an extra shop visit and perhaps prevents an accident. With the car out of hock the next stops were breakfast, car wash, and now home. Where laundry is spinning & I’m blathering. All is right with the world.

Will have GF over for the weekend and Monday, leaving Tue morning. She was originally supposed to be here mid-day today, then that morphed to late tonight, then again to early afternoon tomorrow = Fri.

Fri night we’re going to a Shakira concert at the Hard Rock Stadium where the NFL Dolphins play. It’s a sell out and the basic stadium capacity is 65,000 people plus all the seating down on the 2/3rds of the field that aren’t the stage. That’s where we’ll be: down on the field fairly close to the action.

Should be quite an event. The chances of rain aren’t zero, but they’ve been declining all week. It will be warm all day and warm overnight, so freezin’s not an issue. That’s all IF GF gets here in time so we can go; she is a bit chronologically challenged. Although with all the obligations and chaos in her life, that’s sorta understandable. Wish me (her really  ) luck with her Friday pre-arrival activities!
