(Old) Waiting for an Update in the MMP

Ok, the :purple_circle::racehorse::athletic_shoe: thing was pretty clever~I’m going to try to remember that one.

Congrats :trophy:, :cat2::gloves:!

I quick-skimmed this in a very odd way.

Your apology is rejected, as I absolutely adore belated birthday wishes.

Hell, wish me a “Happy Birthday” when you get ’ round to it in mid-August … I don’t have jack shit going on then, a lil’ birthday lurve does the soul good whenever it shows up!

Freezer is back online. We all rejoiced.

So is one of our four ovens, which went hinkey last week but is mercifully back to work { whipcrack } and since it was my favorite oven, on the occasions I “got” to work ovens, I was happy to see it crisp out hot, steamy, lovely pizzas again.

For a while, it was this sullen, half-heated thing that would slllowwwly cook the toppings and crust in a weird way.

I know it sounds like everything is falling apart, but these machines work like rented mules every damn day, hard, and are sometimes slammed around by pissed-off men and teenage boys. There’s a reason “industrial grade” is so different from residential.

You did a very nice thing.

I mix up things like “I-xyz” and “US-xyz” all I know is in Dallas, it’s called “Central” and if you refer to it by number, we know you ain’t from 'round here anyway.

{ runs to check on rat room occupants }

Please never leave us; that was hilarious.

In deciding dinner (the elderly meat was relegated to Ye Olde Trash Can) I spied, with my lil’ eye, the remains of pigs in blankets from a bit ago - Lil Smokies and half a thingie of puff pastry.

Well, since I was gonna cook up some onions anyway … long story short, there’s some piggies, and some puff pastry wrapped around nothing but sauteed onions (these are YUM and must do again!) plus one bonus hidden jackpot where I wrapped puff pastry around a bit of chock’lit.

In Shoe manages adulting news, there’s one (1) load of laundry in the dryer. Lil’ ol’ me just doesn’t produce a lot of volume of dirties …

Upon re-read, I nominate this for a Tom Waits lyric.

Doesn’t either of you realize that ONIONS ARE EVIL?!?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization wherein I have Verger duty. This shall be followed by return to da cave for a sammich N.O.L., sloth, nappage and day drinkin’ which may or may not be at the cee-mint pond. I have a feelin’ we shall opt for inside in the a/c. Sup shall be sketties (meat sauce thawin’ as I post), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. Thus shall it be in swampland.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Must be something in the air - I woke early, then MIL got up around 6 - she usually sleeps till almost 10! She claims she’s up for the day - yeah, we shall see… FCD, however, is crashed.

I’ll be running errands courtesy of Daughter this morning. FCD will drop me at her house, she and I will run thither and yon, then she’ll bring me home. I’m making a shopping list - so, will I remember to take it or will it stay on the counter?? Stay tuned…

I pre-paid for parking at DCA - it saved $23, so just slightly over 1 day free. They could have parked for less at a local hotel, but FCD didn’t want to mess with their shuttle. His call, not my circus… They’ll be leaving here by 6:30 on Tues morning and won’t get home till evening a week later. I have plans to do some carpet cleaning, bedding changes, and maybe curtain washing while they’re gone - specifically the bedroom curtains. Between that and Roxy being here, it should be a full week. Or so I’ve planned. Maybe I’ll read the whole time…

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Spot is watching the birds from the sunroom.I’ll start the cleaning and laundry post coffee.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/58f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app describes it as “overcast fucking sadness”. It’s grey and gloomy out there, rain may arrive later but it bothers me not a bit because I have no plans to leave the house today.

It’s not that kind of a road  I checked the map and realised it was just past my current gym, and across from the gym I used to go to and it’s an area that’s largely industrial units or car showrooms. However, my gym is right next to Go Outdoors, which was somewhere we’d mentioned going as we need new festival chairs. Popped in there to look at chairs and almost bought a tent instead! They do some serious discounts for members so we put off buying anything until we’d sorted out membership instead.

That, right there, is why I’m so glad I live somewhere with temperatures more suited to normal people

Same here, I always slow down and look both ways whenever I’m at junctions or roundabouts because you just never know…and I remember my driving instructor’s wise words about treating everyone else on the road like idiots, since so many of them are.

Both Cherry and Blossom like to sit on the windowsill and watch the wildlife too. Shadow is not bothered in the slightest, he is quite happy to curl up on his favourite seat and snooze the day away.

Yesterday turned out to be a busy day of erranding and suchlike, then I ran the rollsuck around the house when we got home again. That means I have not got much on my list for today. I have some t-shirts that need ironing, and I might also do some laundry. On the other hand, I might spend the afternoon on the sofa with a book. Not my turn to cook today so all I need to do is sort out some lunch which will involve dumping a bag of salad leaves into a bowl, adding some cuke and tomatoes, top it with some sort of protein and pour some dressing on it. After another cup of tea, of course.

And she’s not only sleeping in her chair - she’s talking in her sleep. Why is someone talking in their sleep so creepy? Or does it just creep me out?

I shared a room with my sister for 18 years, and she used to talk in her sleep occasionally. It’s just too weird.

I usually get up during the night. Shocked that I slept 8 hours.

My grandfather taught me to drive, and his take was to assume the other guy is crazy, stupid, actively out to get me, or some combination of those. I don’t think he drove in the area I currently live in, but he still makes a lot of sense to me.

We\re all going to hell in a handbasket anyway, so why not make for a tasty journey?

I shared a room with a sister like that. Sometimes it was amusing.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP and Sunday chores. Not much on the agenda today at CasaRoja, so pretty restful.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. Up early with only 6 hours of sleep, so we’ll see if nappage occurs. Have procured the Sunday NY Times and am waiting for the time to pass to head over to Olive Garden for Sunday DInner. Should be a quiet day, it apparently rained a little last night but clear now and heading to 87F.

And I see I didn’t post late last night, so have a lot of catching up to do…

Well of course, putting a leash on a cat is pretty mean… :grinning:

A lifestyle this long-time bachelor endorses.

shoe, not devious, just making two needs (restocking and cat pooping) work to your benefit. Enjoy your Bat Time (reminded me of the close of the campy old “Batman” TV show in the 1960’s, it always ended with the announcer telling us to come back 'Same Bat Time, same Bat Channel").

Cat Glove, that was a lovely little story of the duck race and how you saved the day for a little girl.

Sticky Buns, not a big fan of onions either, can tolerate them in small does in my salad and on White Castles, but fixing and eating them deliberately…I’m with you.

Happy Vergering swampy.

FCM, hope the errands went well, I also paid ahead for parking in New Orleans for my vacation, I’ll start and end there but otherwise it’s trains and other modes of transportation.

My bladder usually insures I’m up by 6am; sometimes I can ignore it, but not often. Still need to get back to my regular 8 hours, been getting less recently.

OK, still have about an hour to go before dressing and heading out to the Garden of Pasta. Take care all.

Color me confused. Right now it’s almost 11am in your time zone, you posted this a half hour ago, so a bit after 10am.

And you’re leaving for dinner in an hour?

I assumed JtC meant Hubs had ordered a harness & leash for her, not the cat.

IMO …

Red onions are suitable only for trash can ballast. White or yellow onions grilled as a topping / condiment or included as an ingredient in almost any food is fantastic. Raw white or yellow onions are, like raw pork, perfectly good food that’s awaiting cooking and not to be eaten as-is.

As to me:

Up early, an hour of leisure, then shevel, pack, feed, & speed off to the airport. Chillaxing at the club now after an irritating delay at security. Something is fouled up in my records for TSA pre-check so I had to wait in the long line. Again. Gotta get to the bottom of that when I get home. Uggh.

We depart in about an hour, so will be leaving the club for the gate in a few minutes. Assuming Wi-Fi works on the plane I’ll be back later with time to kill so that’ll mean more drivel for y’all to process. (Or ignore as you prefer  ).

Cheers & happy Sunday!

Just before we left, MIL got up from her nap on the couch to go sleep in her room “for an hour.” It’s 2 anna half hours later and she’s still in bed. One of these times, she just won’t wake up…

I got all the stuff on my list - I just forgot to put some stuff on the list, dammit. Still, nothing I can live without. I think it’s partly because I don’t want to inconvenience my drivers so I rush thru, whereas if I was shopping alone, I’d be taking my time.

Daughter had her schedule info wrong, so I’ll have Roxy for 4 days this week. I hate that I can’t drive, because I could have taken her to the park or the museum. Oh well…I’m sure I can entertain her here. Maybe I’ll teach her to knit.

One stop was BJ’s - I still don’t see the appeal of that place. My membership only cost $20 but I can’t see me having that much in savings, even if I gassed up there, especially since it’s not convenient. I did give Daughter my login info so she can use my account if she wants to.

It’s nice and quiet here - I think I’ll read while I can.

Yep, they open at 11am and I’m usually one of the first there. Tend to eat Sunday dinner that early, why I could not say but like Bruce Willis as Bilbo Baggins, Old Hobbits Die Hard.

Once again I was determined to go down for some B&G for breakfast and once again I aborted the mission. Made breakfast sandwiches instead. Wordled and puzzled. This afternoon we’re supposed to go on a walking tour of art deco homes in some part of town. Don’t know if I can do a hour and a half, but we’ll see.

Anyone else ever have Ortiz tuna in olive oil? Damn, but that’s some good tuna. Expensive, though, at about $8/4oz. Worth it to me, as we don’t have tuna all that often. I just dice a bit of celery in with it, add some dill, salt, pepper, a little lemon olive oil, and mayo.

Yes, I’ve had Ortiz tuna. I love it, as well as other Portuguese or Italian canned tunas in olive oil. It seems to taste way better. It’s a good choice for when you’re making a pasta sauce of tuna, tomatoes, capers, onions, and parsley, because it has a rich intense tuna flavor that stands up to the sauce really well.

The pot roast is in the oven. Too many mushrooms and too many carrots. But there it is. Only used two of the red potatoes I bought. I’m cooking it at 275º Ferret Height, so it’s going to take a while. We have to go to church at 10:30 (I think), and stop off at the hardware store on the way back. I’m guessing the pot roast might be done around 14 anna half o’clock.

Amazon has six for $33, or twelve for $59. That’s about $5.50 and $5.00 per 3.95 ounce tin.

Sorry, dear, I’m afraid we can’t be friends anymore.

Same, and on the rare occasions I sleep 7 or 8 hrs straight, I always feel like I won something.

… or that I’m about to get sick.

Hoping it’s the former for you today.

Google up something like “kid’s crafts” or just lose some time on Pinterest. It’s amazing what you can do with some acrylic paint and an empty egg carton or three, and I bet a smart, creative kid such as your RoxStar can come up with some ingenious ways to kill some time make useful, decorative objects.

Oh, did she like the pottery at all? I remember you said you got your clay-playing going a bit again.

ETA: did I use the word “some” sufficiently in that paragraph? Jeez Louise.

Jeebus, even when I worked “normal people hours” that still would’ve made me cringe. Now? Good lord.
Diff’rent strokes an’ all.

??

Bacon and grits?

Ball and gag?

Sir, I’ll hafta ask you to tone down that enthusiasm. Please.

One mushroom is too many.

Zero mushrooms is almost too much.

(As long as we’re raggin’ on each other’s tastes … )

Landlady said she was sending the lawn guys over “this weekend.”

Awoke to the dulcet tones of a mower right by my bedroom window … because my neighbor was up & at 'em.

Dude, your yard already is one of the nicest on the block wait OH MY GOD HANK HILL MOVED IN NEXT DOOR.

ETA: to clarify, my yard still looks like hot trash.
