BBBoo, thanks for the hearing aid and BP monitor advice! I got a wrist monitor without doing any research, and it wasn’t until the end of the instructions that they mentioned it might not be accurate on someone with afib…which was the initial problem that sent me to a cardiologist. D’oh!
Taters, I hope your commute was more driving than sailing and you got there safe and dry.
Nettie, our fridge is wedged into its space, so we had to leave a good bit of room behind it for air circulation. It’s my nightmare that one of the cats will find a way to get stuck back there and we’ll have to remove a pantry wall to get to them. Of course, that might be what we need to jump-start our badly-needed kitchen renovation.
red, your mention of popcorn with milk triggered a memory for me - before my mother made the mistake of buying name brand cereal, we used to have unsweetened puffed corn cereal, which might as well have been popcorn.
boo fae, there must be something wrong with the tech departments of all school systems. When I was working, they always seemed to decide end of semester was the ideal time to take the records system offline. School was out, after all, and it never occurred to them that the clerks might need a few days to get everything entered.
FCM, I’m glad things went reasonably well at the neurologist. Here’s hoping it was a one-off event! Although aside from the scary medical aspect of it, getting a lot of work done while in a fugue state sounds a little appealing.
VanGo, it seems like there’s always one more signature needed!
Coppertone, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you to get a decent job. This isn’t the two-bus commute one, is it?
Sticky_Buns, that’s disappointing about the disability denial, but if it’s anything like the process here, they typically deny applications at least twice just in general principle. Good luck with the interview, regardless of what you decide.
lucky, I ended up doing three months of physical therapy after I moved a few boxes of tile (with a dolly, even!) one afternoon. Nowadays, I have to do stretches before I vacuum.
flyboy, you’re a brave man thinking of having a bonfire with fresh cedar branches. There’s a tree company here that will pick up branches for shredding them into mulch, and that’s what I’ve been doing with mine.
cookie, it’s great that your grandson wants to go into construction! We desperately need more young people who know how to do skilled trades. My son-in-law says he regrets not going into plumbing every time he makes a payment on his student loan (I’m always tempted to remind him it’s not too late, but I’m not going to be that MIL).
vanwirrt, we moved into this house in 2001, and it was filled with boxes until 2018, when we hired our daughter and a friend to put up shelves and clear them out. If you’re starting the process already, I’m sure you’ll get it done a lot faster!
JtC, have a safe trip!
And I’m finally authorized to talk about my own update (…drumroll…)
I’m going to be a grandma!! My daughter and SIL told us in a video call with his parents on Mother’s Day, but she was only at nine weeks then and wanted us to keep it under our hats until 12 weeks. She’s due mid-December, and all the preliminary tests look good. We’ve seen one ultrasound, which looks like every other ultrasound you’ve ever seen, even though I’m sure this baby will be the best one ever gestated in the history of mankind. Not that I’m excited or anything!
