(Old) What's Your Favorite Ice Cream Cone? - An Inappropriate Winter MMP

So, so lovely!

Massive huuuuggggssss to BBBooo, whenever you need them. You are very much loved here – please post whenever you need to! I’m sorry you’re enduring a traumatic anniversary again, but as has been said, we are here for you. And Moxie is doing her part, it’s good to hear.

red, what fantastic news that you’re finally getting sprung! Congrats on the new recliner, too!

Boo Fae, yes, I am envious of your public transport all over Europe. Puts ours to shame here. I just enjoy hearing how you navigate the various pitfalls and perils that present! Have fun at the event of the last band of the year!

swampy, I like your second joke even better than the first one.

taters, it would be fun to watch “boxing” with you. Otherwise, it’s not for me. The sexism sounds pretty awful, for sure.

52, such exciting news about the house! I look forward to your closing, when we can all properly celebrate. It’s great you and the sellers are only $2k apart – you’ll overcome that with a yawn.

Congrats to Peaches, Van Go! You’ve both learned some new things, I expect.

j-bats, that is so touching – wonderful cow-orkers are worth their weight in gold, aren’t they? And I’m sure you are very deserving of their gifts to you. I think it’s cool that they caught you off guard, too.

I did a little more deadfall cleanup but not enough. I’ll just whittle away at it for the next few days. There’s still a lot of water filling our lakes, streams and rivers, but no flooding anywhere close to me. Happy for that!

The Ducks are getting ready to play against the James Madison Dukes at Autzen Stadium in a few minutes. If the predictions hold, should be an easy game for the Ducks. But they’ve been known to choke now and then, so we’ll see.

Dinner is easy tonight with leftovers. I’ll surprise myself with whichever version of sausages I have. How nice that someone cooked for me last night!

Which reminds me… I hope shoe is doing ok.

Will probably check in again after the game.

What’s wrong with them? Give major points for Jesus and Mary Chain, or the Hooters.

I think we’re around the same age and grew up in southern Maine.

But sweet story about them gifting the card and toy!

Up from naptime, watching hockey, and making chicken mushroom stifry. Handegg starts in a bit.

But did she pass?

He also wrote the bokk on U.S. destroyer operations in WWII.

I can take 1.5 hours to go 3 miles on some parts of the Raleigh bus system.

Yay!

[Monty Python]My foundation is full of Frenchmen[/Monty Python]

Also your brain hasn’t been replaces with a bunch of used McDonald’s cheeseburger wrappers.

Oy. Hoe everybody feels better.

I grew up in Northern Maine, but spent most of my life in Southern Maine, but we are so not on the same page musically. The Hooters? Ugh. College snot rock if you ask me.

But you didn’t, so … Hey! Merry Christmas!

Howdy Y’all! General sloth and kolledge tackleball have taken up my day. My DAWGS will play Sippimissi in the Sugar Bowl. No big surprise there. Nappage, day drinkin’, Netflix (no Victoria and Albert jokes today) and foragin’ for sustenance were accomplished. I am kinda sorta semi debatin’ bein’ a heathen tomorrow. I have promised to serve both Christmas Eve services so I will double deheatenate then.

red hooray for the impendin’ gettin’ sprung!

52 hooray for impendin’ home ownership. My first home needed some work, but it was not anything that needed immediate attention. I am sure it will be the same for you.

J_Bats what a nice thing your co-irkers did!

VanGo happy grajooashun to Ms. Peach!

Bright Tree I am sure your Ducks will have no problem. I just saw the score and they are definitely havin’ no problem.

Yeah, we’ve reached the point of “painful” for the Dukes. Still more than 4 minutes remaining in the second quarter, and the Ducks are already 31 points ahead. They play a tough team on New Year’s Day in the Orange Bowl, though, so we’ll see how it goes then. Congrats to your Dawgs, btw!

Go Ducks!

And a good late evening all. Was involved with soccer (nearly 3 hours of refereeing) until 3:30pm and then went shopping at Mal Wart for another hour. Needless to say my energy levels were pretty low and despite dinner and much caffeine, I am still not in the mood to do much more than sit and watch videos, but I’ve run out of them for the night so probably will head off to bed sooner rather than later. More tired than I expected, exercise on machines at the gym are one thing, running up and down a basketball-sized indoor soccer field apparently wears out other parts of my body. No futsal tomorrow so probably a day of rest.

red, happy Moanday release! And double yay! for the new recliner, seems like a good way to start the New Year right.

J-Bats, that gift says a lot about you and how you treat people. Happy for all of you.

FCM, happy reclinering, sounds like you’ve earned it.

lily, sounds like that is going to be one spoiled cat. Good wishes on the choosing.

And that is all for today, I am really dragging and feel like a Norse God (I am Thor all over…). Hopefully 8+ hours of sleepage will get me back in action tomorrow.

What an awesome pair of coworkers!

Methinks that there should be a cat in there somewhere.

It could work…

I call them our alarm cats, its hard to sleep through them.

I put chocolate chips in this batch and have mixed feelings about them. While there can never be too much chocolate, I’m not sure how much I liked it because the cookie is already so stogy and the chocolate texture was just close but not quite. IMHO, I tend to be very picky at times.

Don’t start counting the hours, cause if you are like me you will start counting minutes next.

I hope you get broken out on schedule and have safe trip home.

How very sweet, learning that you are really valued is so special.

Hubs has been asking about you and hoping that you are staying dry. I’m glad I’ll be able to give him a good report tonight!

Don’t buy fud until you have Catz. They each have their own idea as to what is proper fud and what should be snubbed on sight.

It does sound like things are coming together nicely. Are you looking for kittens or adults?

So it was nice here today and I did go outside and do things. I planted garlic back in October and it sprouted before the first freeze :frowning: Then it unfroze and more sprouted so now both bags are full of sprouts. If it was going to die, it would have done it last week, so I think I am successfully growing garlic. Go me!

I also did some laundry, changed the sheets and did the ironing, then killed monsters with Hubs for a while.

I looked at WoW once, it looked very shiny and lots of fun. Like something I could sink a whole lot of hours into when I should be sleeping. Now that I’m retired and don’t have to worry about that sort of thing, I’m kinda bored with gaming and still don’t have enough time in the day.

Hurray! I hope things go smoothly. Did your inspector go over your fuse box? I do hope it has been upgraded and not grandfathered.

sorry fo r the disjointed post, Jolene is demanding attention by walking on my keyboard.

We hope for kittens, but it’s not the best time of year for them.

When I have a say in the matter  , I tend to favor young adult cats. They’ve calmed down a little from “turbo-destructo-muffin”, they’ve still got basically a whole lifetime ahead to share, and their adoption odds are nowhere near as good as a kitten’s.

Yeah, I know, this from the woman who just took on a roughly 4-month-old kitten. She and the UCDS ganged up on me.

We shall see wirh what cats the universe presents us.

Sunday onwards!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning and afternoon sloth are on the agenda, as usual.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until almost seven a.m. :bed: ‘Tis 37 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 67 and sunny. We have made the executive decision to be heathens today. I feel a little guilty because the church will get all greened up after the service. I do not have the gay decorator gene so perhaps it’s best I won’t be there. So we shall sloth the day away as is our wont. One of us will venture out to get stoner food around lunchtime for today’s main need to feed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

So odd - my bladder woke me around 2. I got back in bed within minutes, and what I thought was a few seconds later, I looked at the clock - it was after 6!! Sleepage and the passage of time make for a strange combination. But I’m up, fed, and caffeinating.

FCD is going to the boat today. I was going to help him, but he didn’t know how long it would take and when I mentioned leaving Otis crated the whole time, he decided to go alone. I’m going to take advantage of the mild day (sun and heading to low 50s) to do a bit of work outside. Recent winds have knocked a buttload of branches down, so I’ll take my little battery-powered chainsaw and cut it up as I gather. I’m thinking I’ll get out the mower and have a go at the front yard - the leaves are pretty thick. We’ll see.

Daughter borrowed some cookie sheets last night, and I’m thinking I’ll just give them all to her and borrow them back when I want to bake. Unless she doesn’t have space to store them, in which case I can just keep them. When Roxy comes over tomorrow, I’m going to teach her to use my sewing machine. I have some old sheets and I’ll let her cut up one to make a tote bag. That’s a simple beginner project.

I need to get a rug for the bathroom. I ordered one, but when it arrived, I was sorely disappointed - it’s smaller than I want and really cheap (for all that it cost over $30!) I’ll just break down and do the brick-and-mortar thing, but not till after the holiday madness. So till then, I’ve got a couple small mats that will suffice for after-shower drippage. I know - first world problems…

And thus begins the week of panic and madness… for some… I’ll be avoiding most retail establishments.

Happy Sunday!!

Morning all. The weariness plus sleeping badly (3 trips to the bathroom plus two leg cramps) spoiled whatever rest I planned to get, and the lurking cold has come out into the open so I’m coughing and tired and my nose is running like a politician. DId go get the Sunday NY Times because Tradition! but doubt I will have the usual Sunday dinner out or visit the gym at all, time to listen to my body and take a day off. Do have a 3pm meeting for soccer so I may go to that if I’m feeling a little better, but with a 400-mile drive planned for Tuesday, best take it easy and be ready for that. A pity, it’s 52F heading to 58F and not a drop of rain expected, which is how December ought to be in my book…

If you have chicken…

swampy, happy heathenating.

FCM, happy cutting up branches, I have several in my yard but they are little (foot-long or less) and can be handled rather than sawed. And excited to see what Roxy comes up with on the sewing front.

And that’s all for now. Need to visit the Medicine cabinet and see if any Day-Quil is still available. Take care all.

I’m going to attempt lasagna-making tomorrow. I’ve made it a couple of times in the past, but it never comes out tasting as yummy as I want. I think I don’t use enough meat sauce when I assemble it, as it has always been a bit drier than I want.

Well, I’m making a buttload of meat sauce right now. The meat is Italian fennel sausage and the tomato part is chunky tomato sauce out of my freezer, made when tomatoes were ripe and plentiful in August. I’ve purchased ricotta, mozzarella, and lasagna noodles, and have a big wedge of Costco parmesan in the fridge too. So I think I’m ready for final assemblage tomorrow. Fingers crossed that I hit the mark this time.

Oh, and as for ice cream cones, if they only made Drumsticks out of high quality ingredients, that’d be my favorite. But nowadays they’re made with mass market ice cream that hurts my stomach, and thin waxy chocolate. I’d make my own if I only knew how, using Ben & Jerry’s vanilla ice cream.
