woot woot! huzzah!

Aw crap, I forgot to even worry about that!

There is a running “jokes” thread. This definitely belongs there.

The one who owns the pain point is the one who will do the work to fix the problem.

Skipping may still be contraindicated by P.T. as it can be a bit harsh on knee joints.

Believe it or not that was totally accidental. The rest, not so much. Leave it to a former electronics tech to spot that though. Good work, sailor!

Given that it’s coming from the UK, it’s only fitting to have the neighbour watch for it, not the neighbor. That second guy watches for USPS.

The best molds for releasing things are flexible. Besides, that’s a much more pleasing shape. Nice colors too.

Wooty McWootface!!! That is most excellent. Hooray!

Cookie That’s great news about the knee! And about the weather and dinner plans. But mostly the knee!

Yaay Nellie for progress, even if SIL is being a drama queen. Or maybe more of a Nervous N _ _ _ _ _ than a drama queen.

As to me:
Got to the beach and got a full dose of Vitamins UV & SW, with just a taste of Vitamin Z. And small swimming, some body surfing, and a 2.5mile sand walk. Then home for breakfast with Her Ladyship who rolled out of bed at the crack of 10:30, a mere 5 hours after I did.

Who then promptly departed for the dentist, Mah Jongg, then Library Ladies lecture & probably ladies dinner. So I’m on my own probably until bed time.

Have a couple admin phone calls to make, and ideas for a late lunch. So instead I’m yakkin w’ yall.

LSL: Doctor, it fucks up my whole day when I do this.
Doc: Then don’t do that.
LSL: Gee thanks, Doc. I never thought of that!

Oh yeah, one last thing. You might remember from ~two weeks ago we were all talking about avoidance of unpleasant tasks and I mentioned that after I’d done the boat disposal I’d gotten a couple of voicemails from them that I was afraid to listen to in case they’d hit some big snag?

I finally listened to them a day or two ago while driving to Daughter’s birthday party. It was the disposal company office calling to ask me to leave them a nice Google review. And from a few days later a random message asking me to “call [name] back about the house”. So a wrong number. The avoidance is strong in that this one.

On to useful gettin’ shit done!

I’ve ordered four quarts of Yamalube 10W-40, and a reprint of the original owner’s manual. Maybe my bike will be running in time for the snow!

Phew!! That’s gotta be a relief. I hate the threat presented by ominous voice messages. Might be, “We’re calling about your vehicle warranty,” or it might be … well, worse.

Thank you, sincerely. I never knew this was an option. Will investigate.

Cuz there ain’t no bloody way in seven hells (to mix several cultural metaphors plus bad grammar) imma doing this again.

Me: “What did that dumbass do?
… and what alternate route shall I take?”

I’ll throw a nickel into the pot. 41.7% of my online selling has involved some version of ^^ and that’s always super fun.

Hey y’all

I’m going to be gone for about 5 days. Try not to miss me too much.
Who am I? Uh… that guy…you know?

Here’s something to remember me by. I ran across it yesterday and thought about (some of) you.

Days Go By by J. J. Cale

Ignore the super annoying little ad at the beginning. Some people have no couth.

Y’all behave, er… carry on.

It’s been a busy-ish day: I actually went to/am still in the office today, because our deputy program manager had mentioned that he was planning to be here. It was nice to see him in person, and have a couple of conversations I wouldn’t have bothered him with over Skype/Teams. In the middle of the day I went to the county government center for election-related training: I’m going to be a same-day registration specialist in November, and the county provided both (mandatory) online training and (optional) in-person training. I’ll generally always take whatever training I can get. I’m glad I went, but wow about the intellectual capacity of some of my fellow election officers…I weep for the poor voters (and precinct chiefs) who will encounter them. I’m about to head out: as soon as I get home, I’ll let Bailey out but then I’ll need to change and go to the gym. She is not going to be a happy dog. Heh.

It was kind of nice to be in the office for the first time since July, but I’m ready to go back to telework tomorrow.

Woo hoo!! :tada:

If you mentioned why, I don’t remember… safe travels?

shoe Yay!!

County recorders in at least some states will record almost anything. Which has the side effect of making that item a public record anyone can get a copy of. Which pre-internet wasn’t too concerning since they’d have to know to go looking for it, then spend hours flipping through papaer books in a dusty office. With modern counties having online access to their recordations, people can troll around in there for interesting things like people’s wills, etc. Some bad guy in Bulgaria can pay a thousand folks in Bangladesh 10 cents per day to look for identities to steal, etc.

There is no assurance that whatever government agency might later want to see your Certificate of Citizenship will accept a recorder’s certified copy of it. They sure might. They sure might not. No way to know until the problem comes up.

Best bet of all is to not lose the darn thing again. Recording is IMO leaky insurance with downsides attached.

A useful donation run that cleared garage space for the car. This followed a pretty good community Spanish conversation class. I’m so rusty, and I was just accepted as a volunteer on the Camino next year, so I need to get faster with my basic verbs and tenses. I might need to kick it up a step to the community college Spanish conversation class, we’ll see.

Sunny day with squirrels and local birds. May go for a walk later, but right now my lovely wife is absorbed in her garage cleaning and I’m waiting for a package. Might make tea and read my upcoming book club’s novel.

Howdy Y’all! Been a slothful but beautiful day here in south Jawja. We even sat out under the gazebo at the cee-mint pond durin’ day drinkin’ time. Nappage was then achieved. Also sup got fixed and et and the kitchen cleanded up.

shoe HOORAY!

We met with the guy who is taking the wood - nice guy, glad he’s getting it.

Daughter and her kids were here for supper, but they’ve gone home. The quiet is wonderful!

That’s all I’ve got.

I had a pleasant lunch out and accomplished several call-center tasks successfully with only a little fuss & can’t speak audible English. Got 26 minutes & 1 second into a rather futile-feeling one only to have my connection to “Peggy” in India drop. I doubt it was them or me; something in the middle. Gaah! Gonna try that one again first thing tomorrow unless I beach again. Plus stopped at City Hall for to renew my beach parking pass that runs on an FY from Oct-Sep and so just expired.

Her Ladyship stopped by briefly between Mah Jongg & Library Ladies. It was left TBD whether they, and hence her, will be going out to eat after or not. So I’m kinda waiting for news before eating solo or with her. What’s vexing is I think “yes” is about the 80% answer so I’m almost certainly delaying my dinner for no benefit to either of us. Meantime a Single Malt eases the pain. Those at least are better at home and cheaper too.

Been balconatin’ the last half hour or so and the sun just set. City lights coming up, large pink-topped thunderstorms far away, and the G-D skeeters are trying to eat my hands down to stumps. Bastids.

metal mouse, a better whiskey tour that 's pretty close to the JD on is theGeorge Dickel tour. Smaller groups with the added option of a tasting at the end (for those not around here, the JD distillery is in a dry county and has a dispensation to sell commemorative bottles, but no tasting).

Yay shoe! Now get your butt out there and take care of the stuff waiting for papers.

Irked, came home, took Nelson to the dog park (he was getting the zoomies, given that he was under vet’s instructions to stay home for a week). It began sprinkling about the time we got there, but I let him run around for about 10 minutes anyway. After that, we went through Fat Mo’s drive thru because I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’. One of the Mo family member’s little girl was at the drive thru with her mom and offered Nelson a pup cup. She came back with two cups of whipped cream…one for Nelson and one for her. :stuck_out_tongue: She was adorbs, what with her curly pigtails and missing front teeth.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Mrs. L.A. suggested Gateway 1890 for dinner tonight. Apparently, I was a bit frazzled after yesterday’s hectic work day (after which, I made pork chops, mashed potatoes, and gravy). She had the pulled-pork taco salad like the one I had last time. I had the cheeseburger salad. I had an Old Fashioned with Splenda (or whatever) instead of sugar, and it was way too sweet. The next one, I put about a third of a packet in. The third one, I put no sweetener in it at all. (The Spousal Unit had Whiskey Gingers.)

Evening all. Only had 2 boys show up for practice (with the week off from school I was not too surprised), but with some help of a older gent from Costa Rica who likes to help, we kept them entertained for about 45 minutes. Dinner has been dined on, soccer watched and calories pedaled, so all in all a pretty good day.

Bet Ukraine has a bunch (snerk…I did look up what a YZF-R1 is).

shoe, glad you are a proper and papered citizen again.

nellie. the number of hands you have to hold sometimes might make you feel like an Octopus…hope it goes well for sis-in-law.

Pilot, glad the boat message wasn’t toxic and presume you will leave them a good review.

Oopsie, if you’re trying to instill confidence in our electoral system, this might not be the best way to do it…

red, thanks for the suggestion, but I drink nothing stronger than beer, and that only occasionally.

And that’s all for this evening. Temperature is below 70F so AC will go off and the windows will be open again. have a good evening all.

Me: Oh geeze, please don’t let the freeway be closed. Again.

You as well!

Ya wanna get skeered? Consider this. Most of those idiot drivers you have to deal with daily? They are eligible to vote. (remember, 50% of the population is under average intelligence.)

You’ve mentioned having an overhang and also that the sun is now in the wrong place for you. Can you have some rolling bamboo shades hung? We have some on the northwest side of our porch because there are a few months during the year that the setting sun annoys me for as long as half an hour a day. They are not that pricey and fairly durable, ours have been up for two years now and the sun hasn’t eaten them.

While you have the blind hanging guys out, have them install an all weather ceiling fan. We have one on the back porch and it really does help with the skeeters. Ours was slightly more pricey than most because we have that misting system out there and needed one designed to survive that as well. Of course, considering the humidity you must live with…you might need the upgraded model as well!

Speaking of our misting system, I noticed that the compressor is cycling which means the water filters need to be changed out. I’m fairly sure we have another set in the shed, I was just too lazy to go out and find them. It will get done tomorrow, I don’t want to forget until next summer, they will get really icky by then.

I’ve known this for years but still chuckle over it. One would think that considering the money the distillery is generating for the county that the county would encourage consumption.

TC friend has out of state family visiting this week so there was no TC today. This will be the second week I’ve missed and I can really feel it. Working out in front of the TV just doesn’t seem to work well for me.

I had a couple of bags of food for NF which included half a bag of frozen strawberries…they gave me a 5 lb bag so I split it with her and tried the trick I saw on a cooking show to reseal plastic bags with an iron. That worked nicely, sometimes the hints and tips don’t.

Due to no TC, but having food to deliver, I met up with NF at the coffee shop by her place. I am so very happy it is 20 miles away, their coffee is sooooo good that I’d never sleep again if they were at the junction.

During our conversation, we learned that we both use the same local septic tank company and we laughed at living in such a small world. JT’s is the new owner of the place on the other side of the fence. They have just gotten into the home flipping business, but I’ve seen the work on the other two homes they’ve done and they did some quality work in both places.

I just love Zillow, I can see the inside of any home I want, but it hasn’t stopped me from going to open houses and looking through windows of empty homes. Heck, I get personal invitations to open houses from a couple of Realtor friends to come and look around because when one person starts opening cabinets and measuring closets, it makes the other people watching start feeling Fear Of Missing Out so they get interested as well.

What can I say…I’m super nosy AND they offer me fancy finger food and generous slices of lemon for my ice water if I hang out and ask questions for a while.

After visiting with NF and only allowing myself ONE coffee, I got in a couple of hours of porchinating and then felt I should come inside and be productive. I unloaded the dishwasher and then went back outside until dinner at which time I filled it again.

The day was lovely and nothing was happening over the fence, so birdsong and water fall sounds ruled the afternoon. It is getting dark sooner, so I watched the sky go from rose to periwinkle and then black before coming back in.

If it’s all reassuring l’m an election officer.

I had a lovely evening, until A POSSUM invited itself into my kitchen.

Y’all, I don’t call 911 unless I really hafta do so (I prefer to stay the fuck away from LEO esp with current ID situation) but, yeah, I called them; they referred me to animal control, who informed me that it was over three hundred bucks to come out at night.

I pointed out that I raised rats and had leather gloves, so maybe could I just gently yeeeeet the lil guy by the tail out the door; the guy on the phone laughed and said I sounded like I knew what I was doing.

No yeeting; just a lot of broom-ing. As precaution, I put on my thick leather gloves, a long sleeve shirt, and on top of that, my heaviest leather jacket.

The more precautions you take, the less you need them.

Possum decided he didn’t like being swatted, and cajoled, and cursed at in several languages, and after lying down & playing possum, repeatedly, eventually decided that perhaps the great outdoors was the better spot.

I have no problem with possums, or critters in general. Just, yanno, maybe not indoors uninvited.

So very true about sooo much of adulting.
