Omnibus Evil MFers in the news thread

It is the norm, but it’s expensive. I travel for business so I’ll order dinner via Doordash or Uber Eats. A meal that cost perhaps $15 might in total cost $30 or more including the fees, taxes and (of course) tip. I’m on an expense account, so I really don’t mind the extra expense but if I’m at home, I’d rather run out and get the food from the restaurant myself.

I agree. Both pizza joints I mentioned are places that aren’t far from me and they have quick and convenient carry out. I never get delivery. I usually don’t from other third party food delivery places either.

That said, while raising minimum wage is a good thing, particularly in response to inflation, there are going to be consequences. In the past a restaurant might raise the delivery fee to compensate. Now they realize it makes more financial sense to leave it to gig workers.

On a positive note, delivery was uncommon not long ago unless you ordered from particular kinds of restaurants. Now you can get delivery from pretty much any restaurant you want.

This was posted in the “evil MFers” thread but face it, this is not evil. It’s just the 21st century. It’s change brought about by new technology making gig work easier and Covid changing the expectation of both customers and businesses.

Have you ever heard of Derek and Xenja Lewitton? No? How about Black Rock Rhino? The Lewittons (husband and wife) are the founders of Black Rock Rhino and this is from that link:

Our objective is to save all rhino species from extinction, and to breed them back to healthy populations.

So why am I talking about them in this thread? Well, Derek seems to be going about his conservation work in an odd way.

US national arrested in South Africa on wildlife trafficking, weapons charges

A U.S. national has been arrested in South Africa on wildlife trafficking and firearms charges, South African authorities have announced.

Derek Lewitton, a Texan, was arrested Dec. 22 following a raid on his Harmony Gate Estate ranch in Limpopo Province by the South African Police Services’ Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) units.

Limpopo Police spokesman Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said authorities discovered 26 rhinoceros carcasses at Lewitton’s ranch and 10 unmarked rhino horns in a safe, as well as seven allegedly illegal firearms and “hundreds of rounds of ammunition” in an hours-long operation following a police tip-off.

I expect he’ll be running for US Congress soon.

Trump has just found his new running mate!

Ambling mate, at best.

These companies know perfectly well who they have working for them at any time. They’re all just disposable cogs, after all.

Well, yes, but there was also a reason a lot of kinds of places didn’t do delivery. Most foods don’t handle the time lag well.

Yeah, one think I’ve learned not to order for delivery is crunchy tacos.

They’re not gonna be crunchy by the time I get them.

Crunchy Frog, on the other hand…

Hey! :biting_lip:

He’s starting small by only preserving the horns. He’ll work his way up to the rest of the body eventually.

The money he gets for the horns is even smaller once he gets it into his account. Its a very compact and efficient form of conservation.

I wasn’t sure where to put this, but it’s evil, it’s in the news, so here it is.

Probably here.

More brainless sh*tbags getting less than they (IMHO) deserve from the legal system. I hope this doesn’t increase their popularity, but I’m doubtful of any chilling effect. Wishing death on a child? I hope you have to have all of your nails medically removed because of a hideous infection.

That’s…a very specific wish…

I recently had to have a toenail removed (not because of an infection) and it really stuck with me. The experience, not the nail. :foot: :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Yes, nothing says how very superior the white race is like that picture.
