A federal judge has sanctioned the plaintiffs’ attorneys in Kari Lake and Mark Finchem’s repeated lawsuits against the Maricopa County Board of Elections, ordering the attorneys themselves to pay the defendants’ legal fees. His 30 page order was particularly scathing,
Some of whom undoubtedly also didn’t want a drag show in town. Though whether being personally inconvenienced by this particular person’s technique for discouraging one will make them think twice about whether to make a big deal of it themselves is another question.
Find them, charge them with domestic terrorism. These people are morons. They’ve probably posted their actions on social media. Or bragged about it at the local watering whole.
Cite for the motive? It seems quite speculative. The police have questioned a woman who said on Facebook that she knew why the power was out, and she led a protest against the “family-friendly” drag show. I can’t find a source that goes any further than that.
This time, the opposition went on a “crusade” to shut down the event by claiming drag performers are pedophiles with intentions of grooming children, Moore County political blog writer Cheryl Christy-Bowman said.
“The LGBTQ forces are coming to Southern Pines and they are after our children,” [a letter from Southern Pines Christian school leaders to sponsors of the event] read in part. “This is their target audience to peddle their abomination.”
When the [Proud Boys] protested an October drag event in nearby Sanford, they were joined by at least two people who have condemned the Southern Pines event online. Neither responded to requests by The Fayetteville Observer for comment.
In a photo taken at the Sanford event, the group is seen flashing a white power symbol. One man is wearing a hat that states “shoot your local pedophile.”
In response to threats of violence, organizers have ramped up security. Private security and the Southern Pines Police Department will monitor the event, and IDs will be checked against tickets at the door, Dietzel said.
“We’ve taken security very seriously,” he said.
I’m inclined to believe that the chickenshits took to shooting up substations rather than face the increased security at the event.
Volunteerin’ fer poppin’ round all the local wat’rin’ holes in a ten-mile radius. Full disguise, workin’ class colonial accent, coon dog optional, expense account mandatory, SUH!
In Facebook posts, Rainey called her Moore County Citizens for Freedom a “movement.” In one post in November, the group bragged about having a “peaceful protest,” warning at the time, “They should pray we stay that way.”
ETA by PuzzleGal: @Skywatcher asked me to clarify that she said that in Nov 2020, not recently.
A motive for the Saturday night damage spree wasn’t clear, said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.
Fields dismissed online rumors that the incident was connected to a drag show.
Not conclusive, only the county Sheriff. Also note that the FBI is investigating, in addition to state and local authorities. So it may be a while before the public finds out the whole story.
