Zimbabwe wants to get back to the point the Zimbabwe dollar is preferentially used over the US dollar (maybe even to the point it can be the official currency again) but they’re a long way from that.
Ah, yes. In such a scenario I can see chocolate or coffee worth more than their weight in gold, especially since they’re perishable.
But getting back to the main point, it just goes to show that people are dumb when it comes to gold. They’re not even buying actual physical gold but shares in mines or certificates, most of which is recorded electronically.
And in the real world, when the shit actually hits the fan (hyperinflation or war-time shortages or whatever), people don’t jump straight to hoarding gold. They set up black markets for stable currencies and luxury items paid in barter or whatever stable tender they have on hand.
People in hyperinflationary economies usually prefer to take taxis. That’s because you pay for a taxi after you get to your destination. By that time the money you pay is worth much less.
On the one hand, I very much want to support breastfeeding. On the other hand, you’re on a ride.
No food on the ride, means no food on the ride, whether it’s in a bottle or a breast. Find a place to sit and breastfeed just like the parents who are bottle feeding are asked to do. I’m not going to ask you to sit in a dirty toilet stall, just be in a place where food and drink are allowed for everyone. Like a place where your kid’s spitup can be cleaned effectively, rather than the middle of a water ride. Breastfeeding should be destigmatized, normalized, not turned into a crazy free for all.
Agreed, I don’t see why it would be okay to say no if you’re putting a bottle of formula in a baby’s mouth, but suddenly if it’s a boob the rules shouldn’t apply.
