Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 1)

uff da, that is very, very funny. the puppies went berserker for it! one fell of the table. they rolled on the jacket. great video.

what sort of can openers are they using in sweden??! they look very dangerous.

i am told you don’t just eat it out of the can. there must be a bit of dissection and accoutrements.

The cans bulge because the fementation process continues after canning.

A great day to be å firefighter.

I would guess so. They described scales, bones, and fins still being present. I assume you’re not supposed to eat all that.

Here’s a video on the “proper” way to eat it. Something tells me the presenter is more than a bit desensitized to the food.

Next, on Destroyed In Seconds!

oh the humanity!

“When you open the can, try not to breathe. At least, through your nose.”

“You have to remove the entrails. It looks disgusting, but it’s not so bad.”

At least I now know the correct way to pronounce it.

That’s too much work for “It’s not so bad”.

I agree. Also the comments about how he’d definitely would NOT call it a delicacy. For that much work I want something sublimely yummy.

It’s like calling prison wine a delicacy. It’s something you’d make and consume to survive or out of some other kind of desperation. Why you’d choose to do so when there are other options…

A bear in Poland’s Carpathian Mountains has mauled an eco-activist who was trying to prove the animal’s lair was abandoned due to logging.

[A] spokesman for the Polish forestry service, who described the incident as an “irony of fate”…

“Will there be a Darwin Award?”

Whatever top award the Darwins have should go to this guy.

Unless he dies or was castrated, he’s not eligible.

Y’know, if someone were outside my front door claiming my home was abandoned, I’d be pretty pissed, too.

Probably a Sovereign Citizen.

In the comments on that Try video I posted, a couple of people said that when it’s consumed properly - with flatbread, chopped onions, and sour cream - it’s not bad. A few years ago in Iceland, I tried pickled herring at a breakfast buffet, and found it surprisingly palatable. Not anything I’d deliberately seek out, but I did go back for more. It had a mild, pleasant flavor, and was not disgusting at all.

Pickled herring is always delicious!

I’m familiar with kosher pickled herring - I love it in wine sauce, and can’t stomach it at all in sour cream sauce.

You’re right, he could still breed. Shudder

I haven’t had it in wine sauce. I haven’t had it in sour cream since the '90s. I always just get regular pickled herring. I wish I had some now.

I used to think anchovies were gross because I grew up hearing that anchovies were gross. Then I learned that one reason why Caesar dressing is so good is because of anchovy paste, and now I have a very good opinion on anchovies.

I’d try a pickled herring.
