Paradise is closer.
(I understand they have a saying that “You have to go through Intercourse to get to Paradise”. Looking at the map, that’s only true only for certain starting points!)

Well Climax, MI is not that far from Interstate 69 you can get there in about 28 minutes.

That was hard to watch.
Yeah, it was pretty fucked up for my friend too–turns out that not so long after this particular debacle he quit his job and is doing gig work to maintain his mental health. I feel a big reckoning is coming when all the burned out hospital workers just walk out en masse. Shit is gonna be real bad in not too long.
For example, this is what OHSU, one of Portland’s biggest hospitals, is coping with right now. My friend the RT’s wife is an RN and works there–thank goodness she got out of ICU and into another department a couple years ago, I’d hate to think of her having to deal with all this shit every day. Her pension will be fully vested in a couple years and I expect she’ll be walking out the day after it happens. I doubt she’s all that uncommon, too.
If we don’t kill for-profit health care in this country and do it right soon we won’t have a health care system at all.
Traffic lights were finally added to a busy entrance at a nearby apartment complex. Somebody didn’t do a very good job.
Before:
After:
I twisted and turned, zoomed in and out, and tried to discover what you were seeing that I wasn’t.
Then, “Ohhhhhhh…”
Different municipal departments not communicating?
TPTB could be planning to move the pole later. A construction crew is currently repairing this retaining wall down the street:
You want to be paying attention driving down that street.
It’s one of the few times when it’s legitimate to ask, “Who put this utility pole here?!”
I take it that none of you have driven through Newtown, Connecticut, which has its flagpole in an intersection.
Not since going to the dollar movies in '83.
Okay, I’m still confuzled. I see traffic lights in both the “Before” and “After” pics. And I see the utility pole in the middle of the street in both the “Before” and “After” pics. But I don’t see what the utility pole has to do with the traffic light in either pic. Is there something else in those pics we’re supposed to see?
The pole is in the grass near a sidewalk in before. It’s literally in the middle of the street in after.
ETA: If you’re seeing traffic lights in both, then something may have gone glitchy in the display. Try a hard refresh.
Aha! I didn’t even notice that. And yes, I guess the display got glitchy somehow. Refresh fixed that.
Oh, come on
Uh-oh, they’re on to us! Switch to Plan Iota.
Republicans are literally blaming Democrats now for their failure to follow common sense and take a vaccine intended to save their lives while every single Democratic politician is begging them to do so.
When did real life turn into an Onion article? (Don’t bother responding. Rhetorical question. Roughly Nov of 2016.)
“Democrats are asking us to behave like responsible adults even though they know we’re a bunch of petulant toddlers. It’s their fault we’re being dangerously reckless!”
I can’t even.
The UN General Assembly is meeting, with leaders from around the world attending. The UN is encouraging attendees to get vaccinated, but they won’t prevent them from attending the Assembly. But the restaurants in New York City are still requiring proof of vaccination. So the President of Brazil, who refuses to get vaccinated, had to eat a slice of pizza from a street vendor, because he couldn’t get into a restaurant.
Forced to? Slice pizza in New York is great.
For every meal?
