According to at least one article I saw somewhere, she wrote “I’m not going to jail” so the judge obliged her by sentencing her to prison instead. Did anyone else here see something like that in the news?
Note that “jail” and “prison” are not the same thing.
Do judges get to specify in their sentences whether the defendant-turned-convict goes to jail or prison?
So she’s going to prison just because that’s all the Feds have? 60 days sounds like a fleeting visit to me. Usually, prison is for sentences over a year, at least for state prisons AIUI.
Me, too but what can I say? AFAICT the only Federal jails are those associated with the U.S. Marshalls Office, and I think they just function as holding cells. Willing to be proven wrong by somebody who knows for sure.
She’s also not blonde without chemical assistance. So she’s wrong on at least two counts. She bears a strong resemblance to to Marjorie Taylor Green, which seems to be very common among right-wing women. Weird look to copy.
West Virginia lawmakers celebrated a new law which makes it legal to drink raw milk, by drinking raw milk. They immediately got sick to their stomachs.
Hey it served a good purpose. For some reason, It reminded me of that time I started a thread years ago about a cop who pepper sprayed a pizza of some teens he’d pulled over and Musicat did an experiment and I’d never learned what happened.
Well, I’ve now scratched that occasional itch and learned that Officer Juan Tavera was sentenced to community service for his bit of idiocy.
Yeahbut… Put a little industrial-strength pepper-sauce into a sandwich in the office lunch-room fridge so the guy who’s been poaching lunches gets a bit of the runs – off to jail with you for assault!
Several people died and several more were injured at a Travis Scott concert last night when the crowd surged towards the stage. Of course, the first comment from some rando was that they died from being vaccinated.
It looks like if you douse yourself with hand sanitizer, and then get tased, there’s a chance you could burst into flames. So don’t do that. Someone else has tested the theory.
" CATSKILL, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York man was in critical condition at a hospital after police used a taser to subdue him and he burst into flames, authorities said Friday.
The Times Union of Albany reported that a 29-year-old man walked into the Catskill village police department last weekend and got into a confrontation with officers. Chief Dave Darling confirmed to the newspaper that officers deployed a Taser to subdue the man, who had just doused himself with hand sanitizer, and the man then burst into flames.
Darling said the officers were familiar with the man from previous encounters.
“I think they were afraid he was going to hurt himself, and that’s what started it,” Darling said. “There are still details that we’re trying to develop.”
I know these people are poor and yadda yadda yadda, but it still is not a great idea whenever a tanker wrecks to run to the scene and try to grab plastic bags full of free gas.
So many news stories I don’t know where to begin. Here’s a guy who is on top of the world, as far as NFL QBs. His team is winning, he’s having another record making season. He’s built a lot of public credibility with his Jeopardy hosting gig. Then there are the State Farm Insurance commercials.
Maybe probably going to see most all of that tank.
To be pedantic, “I’m immunized” has a slightly different meaning from “I’m vaccinated”. He could have been suggesting that his franchise-player status immunized him from the need to be vaccinated.
