Yeah. That’s one of those “It’s not such a horrible idea, but coming from the source, you find it inherently suspect.” I’d really like to see age of consent laws match actual capabilities of consent. At least give us some studies to justify that the current law makes sense. It’s clearly a matter of contention, with all the different ages set.

But I do want to add that it is never, ever set before puberty.

I disagree for this reason. A word is a symbol. It is not the thing itself. It cannot be good or bad. So banning a word makes no sense.

Yet people get offended by them so your premise falls to pieces.

The TPTB ban certain words for that reason. I don’t agree with that decision but there you have it. And for reasons that I have explained it seems to me that there is rational explanation for why TPTB might do that while not banning a person with certain views.

If some other pedo came along with the same thread request but without the posting baggage accumulated by Cesario, would that thread be permitted or does that fall into the realm of someone who “seems to think there’s nothing inherently wrong with having sex with children?”

I gather from what you wrote that another pedo who came along but instead was grappling with the attraction to minors as “personal demons” and an illness would have little trouble staring an Ask The… thread.

I’m just wondering. The decision seems pretty fair at first blush.

I’m just saying we’re not ruling out anything in advance. We’d need a lot of convincing, though. As far as I can remember this is our third request to open an “ask the pedophile” thread, and none have been approved.
