On being a military spouse

Esprix, I was reading this thread and not seeing the dates. I thought this was all happening now! :smack:

Anyway, I wish I had known. I could have run some " protective camoflage" sent him cookies or something. *Is there still time? * Never a soldier born, male or female , who didn’t like goodies from home. Back in the 70’s, when I was in the Army in Korea, I loved the care packages my mom sent me(and so did the other gals in the barracks!)

Um, no, rather that if we WERE to get married, that might infringe upon that whole “don’t ask/don’t tell” thing the military’s got going on; in fact, any kind of domestic partnership might very well impact his current military career.

Esprix

w00t. I’m not sure if I even have a hero on Virtue, but I’ll make one post haste.

Esprix

Aw, that’s so sweet! Alas, by the time it gets to him he’d be just about ready to come home, but thank you anyway! We appreciate the thought.

Esprix

Too bad I’m not close enough to bake the wedding cake. I really am a baker, Lord knows I wasn’t too imaginative when trying to come up with a username.

Kind of like Buttercup name her horse “Horse”

ESPRIX, if you can’t find a good support group elsewhere, you’ve obviously found a great one right HERE, and it’s growing!

Zombie Threads Ate my Brain!

I’ve been lurking in your LJ, and this thread was muy confusing until the last half-dozen posts, let me tell you…

Glad to hear this is all working out… the head of my household, Duke Andreas von Icefalke, was deployed for most of his last reign as King of the East, and he had a whole household sending him stuff. It’s good that Q had you as support guy. Good luck with everything!

So, I take it that the “Don’t Ask” part isn’t taken too seriously.

Esprix, hope your soon-to-come reunion is wonderful.

You’re in Icefalken’s household? Wow. That’s kinda cool.

Coming across blatant evidence is often considered to be “telling,” which at that point breaks the “don’t ask/don’t tell” agreement, and then they start filing charges. Not a pretty sight.

However, as I’ve often been told, if you take all the gay men and lesbians out of the Navy, the fleet would sink. That probably explains why, when a superior officer saw us out in public once holding hands (he was off duty, of course), he asked Q’s friend to tell him that he should “keep things on the down low.” So, yeah, at least that particular command really didn’t care very much (lucky for him).

Esprix

Esprix-I’ll be thinking of you both on Sept 9th.
I hope the reunion is everything you both hope for.

And the offer still stands for those free drinks for both of you when you come to Las Vegas…

Oh it will be.

Esprix

Very kind. I know we want to go out there again, although with the moving it might not be for a while.
