I drive transit bus and on occasion use these buses on tours as well as drive a tour bus for a state park.
these buses have no PA systems except for the State park bus.
Many of the buses have on board radio with a sync connection (Ford bus).
With a accessory male to male cable between radio and a smart phone is there any way or App that would work to use this on board radio as a PA system ??
I am certainly thinking wireless headset into this also.
I have googled this subject for a few days but do not understand the technology enough to get anything but a headache.
Thinking of car stereos, that kind of male to male attachment can be used to play music etc. coming from a phone or MP3 player. The cables are not expensive - a few bucks at WalMart or wherever. It’s reasonable to assume the bus’s radio would work the same.
The challenge of course is that you don’t want to play recorded music etc., you want live transmission of your voice.
Here’s an iPhone app that might be along the right lines: Megaphone: Voice Amplifier on the App Store - there are probably others as well, but several of the comments on this one sounded like just what you’re trying to do.
There are similar-sounding ones for Android.
It sounds like feedback / echo may be a problem with any of these options.
As an alternative to the aux cable, if the bus is equipped with Bluetooth, you could sync your phone to the radio via the Bluetooth connection. It can certainly broadcast your voice if you’re in a call, though otherwise it still doesn’t sound quite like what you want.

I also think you are right about the feedback problems.
I was in Radio shack today and at first they were clueless but then started opening gadgets. We got results with an FM transmitter and a Android Mic app.
The next thing is to get a wireless mic to work.
I now have a windows phone and apps are few and funky so maybe an upgrade with a phone that gets results is in order.
Kind of wishing to stay away from the I phone but who knows??
I believe I have found just what I need and ordered one off amazon.
