Until recently, when a prominent poster was banned or suspended there would be a message posted in ATMB listing their offenses which led up to the ban. Recently two prolific posters have been suspended with little explanation. One of them was suspended for “junior modding” but no specific examples were cited. I’ve looked through his recent threads, but can’t find any examples. The other was suspended after asking a question that many people think is legitimate. I don’t know about his prior history that led up to the action. The suspension had no announcement, except in the middle of another thread. And in another thread Little Ed makes reference to a couple of other bannings. I didn’t see any announcement at all about those, who they were, what they did to earn the ban.
Also, until recently, if you had a question like the above you were told to ask Tubadiva. I sent a message several days ago, and have not received a reply.
What I want to know is, has policy changed so that these things will no longer be announced? This question is about the policy, not so much about the specific suspensions I mention.
Ed said that the people he banned would only be suspended until Sunday evening.
It’s getting to be Sunday evening his time and I would wait to hear what he has to say on the subject before I made any assumptions to the contrary.

I can’t address the policy of providing examples, of course, but there was no lack of them in my case; however, they apparently chose not to post them for whatever reason. These are the links I was given by Lynn when she informed me of my suspension:
Generally, we do post about suspensions and bannings of long-term members. However, exactly what (and even whether) we post depends on the individual circumstances.
We are trying to balance (a) the desire of members to know what’s going on and (b) the privacy of the individual. Sometimes the warnings are public and easy to find; sometimes warnings and discussions are in email and private. Sometimes, frankly, there’s so much going on that no one has the time to do all the searching to find the warning posts. Sometimes the boards are so slow that searching for the warning posts would take forever. Sometimes, it’s just a momentary hiccough in a normally well-behaved member and we don’t want them embarrassed by telling the world that they’re suspended for a few days.
So, general policy is that we try to provide information to the boards. As with most of our general policies, we make exceptions in individual circumstances and individual cases.
