On the Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey Show

First off, let me say that I’ve never seen an episode of this show.

However, on Saturday Night Live last Saturday (1/17/04) Jessica & her husband Nick were the guest hosts. Not unexpectedly, they spoofed their MTV show.

One sketch showed them 50 years from now; an aged but still very much in love couple. Jessica was still dumb as ever.

In one exchange, she asks Nick for some Metamucil, saying “It’s been three days since I dropped the kids off at the pool.” Clearly she was using this as a euphemism for having to take a dump.

I’m curious if this is something the SNL writers came up with for her, or if she’s actually said something similar on her MTV show. Anyone know?

TIA

Yes. She used the exact phrase “drop the kids off at the pool” in the show. In front of friends.

I’ve only caught a few minutes of two episodes, but it amazes me that these two ever got married. Each time, it was nothing but about ten minutes of her saying stupid shit and him saying “Would you just shut up; stop talking; close your mouth; be quiet; JUST SHUT UP!”

Obviously, he didn’t marry her because of her engaging conversational skills.

Obviously not, but she is beautiful, she is rich, and she does have huge… tracts of land.

All I know is that Nick Lachey is SO too good for that blond bimbette. What he really needs is to find a nice, cuddly, big gay teddy bear (or bears) to settle down with.

Hey, can anyone give him my number?

I’ve watched two or three episodes and it seems clear to me that he actually loves her. I couldn’t put up with her dippyness for very long, but most of the time he’s very affectionate – although he often makes fun of her, it’s playful, rarely mean-spirited. The episode I saw part of this weekend was the perfect example – he had this great romantic plan to take her up in a hot air balloon for her birthday, and he was very kind to her when she failed to understand how long it would take to cook dinner and thereby ruined their evening’s plans.
