If I was born feeling that I was really a dog inside, then had plastic surgery which gave me a doggie looking snout and had hair transplanted all over my body and I started moving around on 4 legs and said “woof - woof”… would you honestly believe I was really now a dog? I wouldn’t for one minute think that. I would think this is a PERSON who wants to pretend they are a dog. Genetically, they are still a person and can never be a dog. They can only pretend. So just because a man has plastic surgery to look anatomically like a woman, dresses like a woman and uses a woman’s restroom, does not in my mind alter the fact that genetically they are men. And the same holds true for women pretending to be men. I don’t care to what extents they go through in trying to achieve the illusion they are of the opposite sex. They will always be whatever sex they were born.

It’s not surprise to me - or I’d wager anyone who spent time inside the beltway - that this is popping up NOW, during what looks to be a contentious election year. It’s really a classic attempt at creating a emotional wedge issue. Now, this appears to be (God help me) an unusual election year, so it may not be as wedgy as anticipated. But I feel certain that’s where the idea first came from.

I didn’t doubt that transgenderism had a physiological basis, but it’s really enlightening to read about all the possible variations during fetal development that can cause it.

Look DerekMichaels00, 12mgdaily, and all you other homophobic people out there: gender dysphoria is a real thing. It is recognized in the DSM 5 (the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders) as a condition that occurs in a small fraction of our population (between 0.055 and 0.5%). All transgender people have this disorder by definition; this is why they become transgender. They believe with all of their hearts and minds to the depths of their beings that they should be the opposite gender and feel extreme anxiety, depression, and other debilitating conditions living as their birth sex.
This disorder is NOT a type of paraphilia (sexual perversion or deviation) and has nothing to do with sexual orientation, but is instead more closely related to Body Dysmorphic Disorder or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Attempts to treat this disorder using therapy, drugs, and enforced routines are mostly unsuccessful. Instead, treatment of this disorder usually calls for supporting the preferred gender up to and including hormone therapy and re-assignment surgery. This is the treatment. This is what is recommended for somebody with this disorder. It is NOT a choice.
You assholes should really cut these people some slack. They are not perverts, rapists, or any kind of sexual deviant. They are peoples whose brains are wired in a different, not well understood way. This wiring is not a choice, it is not something they can control, it doesn’t respond to therapy or drugs, and it can be completely debilitating. There but for the grace of god, you know what I mean.
