On This Election Day - Did You KNOW There's A Falcon, Star & Pansexual Peace Party?

Subtitled: A day late and a dollar short. Don’t wanna skew the Presidential election results.

What do you know, I get to work a little late this morning because the line at the polling place I voted in was more annoying than the one at the Post Office. During my lunch break, I googled a party I never saw mentioned in the voting booth today and came across this link. Had I found it a day earlier, who knows if I would’ve ‘wasted’ my vote on Badnarik.

The link: From Election World.org’s United States page. Sorry, some of the party’s links on their site (like the Birthday and Beer Drinker’s Party) are broken.

There appear to be alot of fringe political parties in the US…alot more than I knew existed anyway. Even those who aren’t politically astute have probably seen most of the thirds parties (like the Libertarian, Reform, Green, Independence & Working Families Parties) on their ballot this year – but how many of you knew any of the following (I guess what I would term) Fourth Parties even existed:[ul]
[li]The Pansexual Peace Party[/li]Something most people other than my Grandmother can agree on: Peace, pot and the free expression of sex!
[li]The Planetary Engineering Party[/li]They must have removed their call for solar-powered tanning beds in every back yard after realizing how moot the idea was.
[li]The Star Party[/li]They’re calling for Zero tolerance on hate crimes with mandatory hard labor - Not détente with the Klingons.
[li]The All-African People’s Revolutionary Party[/li]What a rip-off! Their unspecific, four plank platform doesn’t even mention Mumia!
[li]The American Synthesis Party[/li]Not to be confused with the American Renewal Party.
[li]The Falconist Party[/li]No smartass, Michael Vick is too busy defending his team’s top position in the NFC South to be wasting time running for president.
[/ul]After I read over the entire list, I can count on one hand how many I knew existed. There’s really no need to point out the fact most of the parties linked on the Election World site are

I love some of the platform positions in the above links. Some are quirky, others make sense in a ‘big picture’ kind of way. Some are hair-brained, others are downright hysterical.

I’m probably gonna end up wasting the rest of the day here at the office reading these platforms. From my vantage point, they’re a lot more entertaining – and in some cases, more intelligent – than anything I’ve seen come out of either the DNC or RNC.

Just some stuff that’s no more mundane than your average political pit thread that I thought I’d share with you all.

The Libertarian National Socialist Green Party. Nuff said.

There’s a guy running for governer of Vermont who’s a member of the marijuanna party. I’m not kidding.

The Falconist platform sounds depressingly familiar, actually.

I tried to join the Pansexual Peace Party, but I got an error message when I clicked on “submit” and I got a bounceback when I sent an email to the addy on the site. :frowning:

All those parties are actually on the regular ballot? In PA the only parties on the ballot are the Dems, Pubs, Greens, and Libertarians. I’m surprised that those parties could get enough votes to be listed on the regular ballot.

Continuity Error The Constitution party made the ballot here in Philly. As far as I can tell, their platform is strict constructionalism plus the promise to pass laws against same sex marriage, and homosexuality in general.
