On what foods should one NOT use hot sauce?

Inspired by this thread, which asks what food to use hot sauce on . . .

I should state from the start, that I find using the sweet hot sauces, such as Toad Sweat and others, on ice cream, cheesecake and other desserts to be fully acceptable and even delicious. Likewise, I’ve enjoyed soft drinks that contain capsaicin too.

But for me, a few foods are NO GO for hot sauces.

Milk
Oatmeal
Breakfast cereals in general

OK, I’m having trouble picturing other foods that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy with the right hot sauces added. A little help?

Gerbers.

A good high-quality cut of steak should not have hot sauce.

Strawberry shortcake

Tuna casserole.

I think it might work well with tuna casserole.

I’ve had Strawberry shortcake with Lemon Vanilla Dessert Hot Sauce on it and it was delicious!

Can confirm

It’ll put the hot in Tuna Hotdish!

Ditto.

I used to make savory oatmeal. Make plain oatmeal, melt cheese into it, add some crushed nori and either salt and pepper or hot sauce. It’s pretty good, IMHO.

Anything intended to offer a subtle combination of flavors. For example, most sushi creations. Even if wasabi is available, that’s a different proposition than the tomato-base of most hot sauces.

Really? In tuna casserole?

In the other thread I was gonna say In New England clam chowder? Are you crazy?

These are mild and soothing dishes. Why would you accelerate their rhythms?

Ice cream.
Pumpkin cheesecake.

Let me think awhile, I can come up with a third, I know I can…

Tuna casserole, indeed tuna anything, virtually requires hot sauce.

Oh God. It would totally destroy my favorite tuna melt sandwich recipe. Not in a good way.

A drop or two of Tabasco adds just a bit of zing. It improves stuff you wouldn’t realize would be improved.

Pudding. Yuck!

How is your tuna melt sandwich recipe materially different from the others, which all benefit from a shot or two of Cholula or Scorned Woman?

Tell me more.

Yogurt.
Fruit salad.
Granola.
Mint sauce/jelly

Hot sauce works in various cocktails, I expect, famously so in Bloody Marys, but there’s probably a full class of alchoholic beverages where it would be an imperfect companion.
