Onboard a plane ..

You are sitting on the plane, flying at 37000 feet. All of a sudden you discover that terrorists have hi-jacked the plane. You don’t know what they are going to do, or know what they are armed with. What do you do?

Well, as far as I know, the pre-September 11th (I don’t know if it has changed since then) rule was Do Whatever They Say.

I make sweet love down by the fire with you, knowing that we are all gonna die.

Can we make it a three-way?

In general I’d say it’s best to stay put and let the aircrew and people on the ground handle it. Were it like Flight-93 over Pennsylvania and I spoke to someone on the ground who told me planes were being flown into buildings left-and-right then I think I’d try to do something.

Problem is you don’t know wha the hijackers might have aboard with them. Box cutters only and you know that? Have at them. If they have a gun or bomb then you are likely to make things worse by taking matters into your own hands and spooking the terrorist into doing something hasty that could kill everyone.

Nowadays with reinforced cockpit doors and (I think) the pilots refusing to open it for any reason chances are the plane will make it to the ground safely where you then get to wait days while negotiations occur. If the terrorists goal is to crash the plane no matter what then I doubt you could stop them anyway. At least the pilots will keep them from pointing the plane at anything that would cause even greater loss of life.

Yes.

That yes was in reponse to Homebrew.
