Is the girl from the original Rumpelstiltskin story in town anywhere?
The Farmer’s daughter who spun straw into gold? I don’t think we’ve seen her yet.
Could Motorcycle Man be Rumpelstiltskin’s son, who he tried to save from going to war? That would perhaps explain how he can move from place to place, as I think Rumpelstiltskin would not have wanted his son to live in the town of no happy endings.
Interesting thought. I have the feeling that R/Mr. Gold can leave town. First, he made the spell so I bet he put in some loopholes for himself (we’re already pretty sure he knows what’s going on). Second, I doubt he had Henry delivered to the town.
I suspected Sidney was working for the mayor all along, but I knew for certain after the city council meeting. As his backstory was told, it became obvious as well. Giancarlo Esposito is playing a villain again, but one so completely different from Gus on Breaking Bad. He has great range. Heck, the genie was different from his Storybrooke self too.
I can’t wait to find out why the mysterious stranger has Henry’s book. Actually he seems interested in Henry in general. We know he’s not his bio-dad, although he does have an upcoming date with Emma.
Snow’s dad was interesting. Obviously a generally good guy, knowing that he isn’t loving his wife (presumably there was some political reason for the marriage), but still not wanted his wife to love another man.
Emma’s superpower of detecting lies obvioulsy doesn’t work all the time.
And didn’t the mayor buy the land without the city council’s knowledge / approval?
Brian
Well, I think thta answers the question of how Snow ruined Regina’s life - simply by being ‘alive’ - nothing specific that she ‘did’.
I don’t think Emma’s superpower is really a ‘superpower’ - but if you tell a 9 year old that, they are likely to tell the truth.
And yes - the Mayor diverted funds without approval - and I’d bet that thte playground idea was not the original plan.
I don’t think that follows, really. I wouldn’t be surprised if the EQ manipulated Snow’s father into marrying her, but then being upset because he didn’t worship her as well.
StG
This - and its also possible that EQ did marry for love/power but got more evil when she didn’t get what she expected.
I missed what the King said just before he died - can someone fill me in?
Jelly Roll - He said, “I should’ve used the last wish”. I wonder if he meant to make EQ happy?
StG
Thanks. I guess I missed more than I thought because I don’t know what the King’s first two wishes were and I don’t understand how the Genie was able to use the King’s last wish. Was the third wish up for grabs for anyone to use after the King died? Or just the Genie?
Obviously, I need to re-watch this episode without a three year old in the room.
Actually, he says, “You were right. I never should have made a wish.”
The king’s first wish was for the genie to be free. His second wish was for the genie to have his third wish. So no, the third wish was not up for grabs; it was granted to the genie by the king. At the time, the genie recounts how the 1,001 wishes he has granted have always ended poorly, so vows never to use the wish the king gave him. It is to the “ended poorly” concept that the king’s final words apply, as well as the genie’s own fate.
No - he said -
“You were right, I shouldn’t have made that wish” - remember, Sydney told him after he was given the kings third wish that “I know not to use this, i’ve seen 1001 wishes go badly”
So, he was regretting making the wish that set Sydney free, that set all of this in motion.
It’s really bugging me the mayor just took the money and put up a playground in the woods (yeah, sure) without any approval from anyone. I would be furious if I lived in that town.
Okay, the playground may still be in progress, but that was a pretty sucky playground.
it really isn’t a 50,000 dollar playground -
I suppose it is possible (probable even) that the queen was planning on killing the king and seizing power all along, and that she convinced the king that he would get over his 1st wife.
Brian
Possible, but there were scenes early on when the King was doting over Snow that would imply that EQ was truly hurt by his lack of affection/love.
Did you all catch the reference to Agrabah? Not to mention how the releasing of his wristbands marked his freedom.
Next week… it’s Beauty and the Beast! Will they follow this up with a mermaid-themed episode?
I’m still waiting for the Lady and the Tramp - or perhaps that’s who the new person in town is - is his name Jim, Dear?
