Anyone rememeber this animated series from the 70’s. I believe it was French made?

It was essentialy the history of Humanity told from the perspective of a series of characters and their (re?)incarnations throughout the ages. There was an old man who was all beard, a red headed toady and his brutish boss, the Hero, and his lunk headed buddy, and two girlfriends.

I remember their take on the Cromagnon man’s time on Earth and Ancient egypt. Unfortunately I can’t find anything on this series… did I imagine it?

Oh yes and the begining theme was Bach’s tocatta and Fugue in No. 525. (Believe me you’d know it when you heard it)

I’d love to find this on DVD and share it with my kids.

Where were you when I started this thread . The series you recall was part of a whole slew of different “Once upon a time…” series that starred the same characters - there was one on America and its history from first humans, one on great inventions, one on the body… follow This link for more info.

I thought I was right.

So the site you linked said they had DVDs. I assume region 2 though. I wouldn’t mind seeing those again.
