Once Upon A Time - the rest of Season Two

The thing is, most people aren’t totally pure of heart. Snow is like the Catholic concept of the Virgin Mary - born without sin. We all have some black spots. So the premise that one evil act will condemn you means that she just joins the rest of us in that handbasket to hell.

And didn’t we see Snow fight and take lives during her exile in HEAL?

Was it supposed to be a twist that the kid was the car crash guy? I thought it was obvious from the minute they showed the kid and dad looking down at Storybrook. Still liked the story, though. Seeing Storybrook’s early days was fun, how it was almost a Groundhog Day for Regina and how sick of it she was getting.

The Snow’s heart thing, bleh. Cora was an evil witch, literally. Killing her shouldn’t put a dark mark on anyone’s heart. Are we really to believe during all the battles and wars back in the Enchanted Forest, Snow never killed anyone ever? Anyone less evil than Cora?

Definitely an improvement from the crap of the past few months.

Though I’m really getting tired of this “you’re my relative – all is forgiven” crap. Gold has been shifty and untrustworthy to Emma the entire show, and once Emma realizes he’s Henry’s grandfather suddenly all is OK. Now Regina is pining over Cora – Stockholm Syndrome if ever I saw it. I can see her being affected by Cora’s death, but Cora abandoned her and treated her like shit her entire life.

Maybe it’s like she’s on the A-Team.

I think one of the stumbling blocks for the series now is that magic really tilts the balance of power in favor of Regina, so they have to keep coming up with new rules/motives to keep her at bay. The “black spot” is just the latest example; though clever enough to explain why Regina doesn’t have to directly attack Snow any longer, it’s a bit of a stretch considering Snow’s warrior-woman past. The only defense is that Snow had to lie about love in order to achieve Cora’s death, which perhaps puts her sin in a different class than the death she caused while earlier fighting for her family/kingdom.

Still, it seems like they’ve set up a decent conflict over the potential discovery of Storyville by the outside world. There are enough new protagonists to make me think there will be unexpected alliances in the coming weeks to fight off this threat–I like that because it could lead to more interesting chracter interactions. In addition, the threat has to potential to be a game-changer for the series next year, something I think this series will need, because Storybrooke itself is pretty played out.

I am pretty smart, I think, and I enjoy this show, but the back story has been given in such I piece meal fashion that I find I forget most of it when it ends up being relevant again.

That said I did enjoy the flashback very much. Having someone see the arrival of the town from the Earthly point of view was clever.

Mary has traditionally been seen as not only born without sin, but living out her life without sinful acts. As if the merest black mark would mar her with an uncleansable stain. So that feels like a pretty apt comparison to me. Oh, crap, does this make Emma Jesus?

Well, while on the Catholic thing, maybe it’s something like double effect? Snow can defend herself against imminent danger, even if that means violence, so long as doing violence isn’t her primary aim. But she killed Cora proactively (and with deceit).

how was cora, in this instance anything ‘but’ imminent danger? - i’ll admit her method was a little squirrely and “all magic comes with a price” -

I’m not sure about the biology, but chemically dry wood is a terrible conductor, so how does a taser work on somebody made entirely out of wood? Unless he’s got tons of sap running through him or something giving a path.

Also, one might suspect that it would take a bit more to kill intimidating mysterious old master Dragon dude than a taser. He comes in, up close, is about to transform or whatever…and boom, she zaps him. That was kinda lame.

Very curious about her. Also, Greg/Owen. If she’s been out killing magical people, one wonders if Greg has also done some dirty deeds.

“Do you know what happens to a dragon when it’s zapped by a taser? The same thing that happens to everything else.” [/Halle Berry]

:stuck_out_tongue:

I really expected him to say, “I’m made out of wood, you idiot”, and then proceed beat the crap out of her.

Or she should have pulled out a lighter…

I kinda liked the older Pinocchio character, so I’m sorry to see him go. Kind of weird to have him just start over again as a little boy.

The actress playing Balefire’s fiancee also has a small recurring role on The Walking Dead. I usually watch OUAT and TWD back-to-back on Sunday nights, so its strange to see her in both roles.

One thing they’ve done at least with the dragon dude is open the door for other magical characters from our world (non-HEAL).

I think it was silly and dumb that what’s Tamara, the fiance, was a super-spy for all those years using August and Neal to get to Storybrook as well as being in cahoots with the now adult Owen.

Also, I think they should stop introducing new characters. There are still unresolved story lines they could work on. Like Mulan and Aurora could go on a journey to retrieve Prince Phillip’s soul.

^Jamie Chung (Mulan) has been filming some movie roles (Hangover III, Sin City II) so that may be one reason they haven’t gone back to that story yet. I believe they intend to do so at some point, though.

I did like the introduction of Dragon - and the comments by ‘fiance girl’ - that magic was exceedingly rare in ‘our world’ - this does open up some good possiblities - I just don’t like the way they are handling it in the current episode - cliche with the person ‘dieing’ as they try to give the all important clue, only to be brought back not remembering - etc… but, lets see where they take it.

Same here. Well, maybe not beat the crap out of her, but at least attempt to restrain her.

Lame is an understatement. Good lord, what was the point of that whole build up if all she had to do was taze him? It’s like when Indiana Jones shot that dude with the swords sans the comedy.

And the whole bit about the evil girl friend seems a little far reaching for me.

Blergh. A couple of steps in the right direction - getting rid of Cora, setting up some inner conflict with Snow, but then now they’re throwing in a new girl, setting up the whole town for being exposed because Regina suddenly isn’t bloodthirsty, essentially killing off Pinocchio (who was one of my favorite characters and actors on the show, after Gold/Rumple)… I really do love this show (probably at least partially because I love the comic book series Fables so much) but it’s biting off way more than it can chew.
