There was a thread a while back about sexual abuse in the State of Florida’s prison system. link
Quite a lot of flaming going around, what with accusations of a broad brush being used to paint just a few bad apples. How it wasn’t systemic. How it was a few folks here and there who were not reflective of the Florida Penal System or even of any particular prison. Why, it was highly offensive to even insinuate such a thing, wasn’t it !?
I’m a little confused. The old link was about a story involving a federal prison in Florida. This link is about the Florida Department of Corrections. What do the two have to do with one another? They’re completely different organizations. FTR, my husband works for FDOC, but not in a security-related position.
I’m also confused as to why they’re reporting on this now, as this all broke over a year ago, and there doesn’t seem to be any new info in the article. A lot of FDOC employees were very happy about it, I can tell you that.
If my reading comprehension isn’t letting me down, this isn’t the usual B-movie thing of the inmates having orgies, or of the guards having orgies with the inmates; this is the administration getting together after work for orgies. What are things like at your workplace? We haven’t had any orgies where I work
Actually, it kind of seems like one of those 70s movies. Perhaps starring a Pam Grier-ish heroine taking revenge on the system, ending with a huge gunfight at the postgame orgy down by the beach, and perhaps a prison riot at the climax.
See, they don’t know that she seems like just another crooked corrections officer, but really she’s the wife of a man they murdered…
Yikes, I’m not frowning about the lack of orgies in my department… Six men under 45 (only one of whom has a cute wife) and three women over 55. Even if we open it up to the department that shares a room with us, only one of the women added is moderately-attractive.
Not a particularly well-written article, is it? :dubious:
Is it just me, or does this indicate the guy in charge - the one who cleaned it all up - was a criminal himself? Surely they could have found some better wording?
Well, you know, a health-care czar is in charge of making sure that everybody gets health care, so a drug czar must be there to ensure that everybody, well you know…
