One Hit Wonders: Movie version

Name your favorite “One Hit Wonders” of the movie (or even TV) world. By that I mean pick a movie or tv show that was the only movie or tv show for a specific actor/actress:

I nominate:

Paperhouse: an unusual British horror-ish movie about an 11-year old girl (Charlotte Burke in her only role) who falls ill and during periods of sleep travels to a world she created through her drawings. It’s not really a horror movie, but it does have scary parts here and there as well as very disturbing bits. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend it.

How about an actor who directed only one film:

Charles Laughton directing Night Of The Hunter.

What a shame it wasn’t a hit when originally released and was only appreciated as a masterpiece later.

Danny Lloyd in The Shining. A great performance!

BTW, according to the IMDb, he played Young Liddy in Will: The Autobiography of G. Gordon Liddy in 1982.

Manos: the hands of fate. That was the first, last, and only movie for every single person in it.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was Peter Ostrum’s (Charlie Bucket) only movie.

Would “Harold and Maude” count? Although Bud Cort kept acting in movies, this one far outstripped anything else he did.

Peter Hinwood’s only role of note was his appearance as Rocky in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. IMDB does list two earlier roles for him, but they’re very obscure, and he never did anything after Rocky Horror.

Actually, two of the women ([http://us.imdb.com/Name?Sullivan,%20Pat%20(I)](Pat Sullivan) and Mary-Robin Redd) appeared in a few other films in minor roles.
Oh, and Goldfinger was Tania Mallet’s only screen role. She played Tilly Masterson.

Although Brewster McCloud was a pretty wild flim.

Oh crap.

Then I stand corrected. I remember checking that a few months ago and they didn’t have nearly as many names on the cast list as they do now. Oh well. Still, an 88% rate for one movie isn’t too shabby.

There’s a fairly obscure movie called The Specials. It’s a comedy about a group of superheroes. Despite the very low budget, the casting was excellent. I was therefore surprised to see that several members of the cast have essentially never appeared in any other film (not counting “roles” such as Girl #3 or Man in Crowd).

I also once watched a 1976 movie called Nickleodeon, a comedy about the silent film days. A lovely actress named Jane Hitchcock had a major role as an ingenue. But an IMDB search shows that this was her only credit in any movie.

I thought the child actor who played all the Hitler-clones in The Boys From Brazil was good. His name is Jeremy Black and that was his only role.

Harvey Stephens’ only role was as Damien in The Omen.

William Obanhein in “Alice’s Restaurant.” Sure he as playing himself (“Officer Obie”), but he was quite good and probably could have switched to acting if he wanted to. However, he returned to being Chief of Police in Stockbridge, MA, when the film ended.

I don’t remember seeing the girl who played Candy in American Grafitti in anything else. I may, of course, be wrong. Kind of surprising considering the size of the role and the future careers of the rest of the cast.

Aliens was the only film made by Carrie Henn / Newt

There wasn’t a “Candy” in American Graffitti. At least according to IMBD. Do you mean “Wendy”? It was the only film for Deby Celiz

I think the “CandY” zoogirl was thinking of was Candy Clark. Her career didn’t amount to much after American Grafitti, but she did made several other films.

Amelia Shankley, who had the title role of the BBC producedA Little Princess from 1986. I found this little gem at my local library and have since seen it available at other libraries, so check it out.

(It’s possible you may remember Amelia as the yound Alice in a TV movie about the real Alice who inspired Alice in Wonderland, but that’s about all she has done.)

Scratch that. The IMDB doesn’t realize that Amelia Shankley and Amelia Curtis are one and the same. Curtis/Shankley most recently was in FearDotCom. Oh well, A Little Princess is still strongly recommended.
