One hour record -- on a penny farthing

The UCI bicycle record was recently broken by Victor Campenaerts

(this for a “standard” bike – for recumbents it is higher)

Anyhow, there is a record for a penny farthing, which has stood since ~1880.
here is one guys attempt to break it:
He fell just shy, but did break the British record, set in 1891 I wonder if he would do better in a velodrome?
I found it, for lack of a btter term, charming

Love it.

And I’ll follow your lead

But aren’t you pleased, in a way, that he failed? The old record still stands!

Missed the edit - wanted to add that I would never have guessed how the two records compare - current hour on a track bike vs (paced) penny farthing hour.

Victor Campenaerts, on a track bike in April 2019, couldn’t improve on the penny farthing record by 50%!

Though the record for streamlined enclosed recumbent is ~57 miles

Okay, I totally misunderstood the thread title. I honestly thought some tech company was showing off its miniaturization skills by engraving grooves on a penny farthing coin and turning it into a one hour phonograph record.

Pedantically/technically, I think the penny farthing bicycle was named after two different coins:-
