I’m looking for a rockin’ version of One O’Clock Jump. The best I’ve heard is by Glenn Miller, but I’ve heard it done by another big band, more recently, and it was really loud and really good.

Well, Count Basie is the classic, but I’m partial to Benny Goodman’s version.
I’m sitting here watching an oldie from the 40’s called Fast Foot Forward starring Lucille Ball, and Harry James and His Music Makers are playing Two O’Clock Jump (a variation of One O’Clock Jump). Think I found what I was looking for!
I’m watching it too! (Well, the TV is on in the other room while I work.) What did you think of that Flight of the Bumblebee?
Same thing I always think when I hear it - “where’s a rolled up magazine when you need it”, lol!
Exactly - it’s Basie’s signature tune…
yes to all of them. but i’d call them “really swingin” not “really rocking” since that’s what they do. the difference is danceability.
