One of my dogs attacked my guinea pig

While I was over at my friend’s house this afternoon my one dog, Daisy, somehow got passed the baby gate on our stairs and got to my guinea pig’s cage. I’m not sure how but she got Molly’s door open and pulled out a helluva lot of fur off Molly’s back. My dad heard Molly’s frantic squealing and Daisy’s snarling and got Daisy away from her before she did any real damage. So far Molly is okay, she’s scared and jumpier than usual but she’s eating and drinking like normal so we’re just going to watch the little wounds were the fur was yanked out. Still, I feel bad for the little pig. :frowning: I’m feeding her all her favorite foods for dinner and she’ll be by me for the next few days.
Here is a picture of her.

Awww- prayers for little Molly and a Sharp Rebuke to Daisy.

Ouch - poor piggy :frowning: Hope she feels better soon.

Poor lil’ thing. She’s a cutie.

Are you sure there was no guinea pig type provocation?

Yeah, I’m sure that pig was askin for it.

Poor lil’ piggie! I hope she recovers well. :frowning:

Sounds like you took precautions to keep the two apart. Sneaky dog.

Poor piggie :frowning:

Give her lots of parsley and apples and romaine, and some hugs from Sherma, Panda and Cinnamon Zappa.

No worries: one day, doggy is going to get the tip of her tail too close to Molly’s cage and no more tip of doggy tail.
My dog learned this the hard way: guinea pigs don’t play.

Looking at Daisy’s snout today I see a little sore bitemark on her muzzle. Looks like little Molly fought back for herself!

I hit the reply button too early…

We still have no idea how she got Molly’s cage open, it was all firmly shut and everything.

Nearly positive. Besides sometimes squealing when she’s hungry she doesn’t do anything but lounge in her cage. And Daisy came to her, Molly wasn’t exactly out looking for a fight. She hardly looks for her food in her cage. Across a room and down a flight of stairs would be waaaay too much for that lazy pig.

Some friends of mine who lived with me for awhile have a Shih Tzu who is absolutely convinced their piggie is her baby. In fact it used to be my piggie but Gracie loved it so much and he loved her so much that I let him go live with them. Gracie is very protective of Rex. One day my Pug, Ginger, got too close to Gracie while she was grooming Rex and all hell broke loose. Ginger was blind-sided because, by and large, she ignored the piggie.

Daisy is lucky Gracie wasn’t around is all I’m sayin’.
