One of the founders of the GAP Band, Ronnie Wilson, dead at 73

Hailing from Tulsa, OK, the three Wilson brothers, Robert, Charlie and Ronnie formed the Greenwood Archer Pine Street Band in the late 60’s. Later renamed the GAP Band, the group went on to have a very successful career on the R&B charts.

As a pasty redheaded white kid growing up in East Texas, the GAP Band was my favorite band from middle school through college. Needless to say, I didn’t follow a mold.

Ronnie will be missed but his legacy and musical pioneering will continue.

How sad! My husband will be really hurt by this.

You Dropped A Bomb On Me.

Huge song in the club back in the day. This song got me dancing with a lot of pretty girls. Damn it sucks getting old.
