One to change, one to preserve

In my government/econ class, we have to write a 3 page paper about one thing that we’d like to change and one thing we’d like to preserve in order for our country to be better.

So, if given the chance, what would you change, and what would you preserve. And please, non of the “Get rid of all conservatives” and then leave it at that type of stuff. If you think getting rid of all conservatives would be the best, please state why.

I am putting this in Great Debates because I feel what one person thinks is the best, another will disagree.

Only too happy to help you with your homework. I think America needs a multiparty political system, not a two-party system. And I’m not alone. See the following SDMB threads:

As for what I’d keep the same – well, democracy. Assuming that’s what we’ve got now.

I’d keep freedom of speech/the press/religion (whole first ammendment, really) - I don’t think I have to defend that - and change to socialized medicine. Hm, probably have to defend that one, but I’m pretty tired. Maybe tomorrow.

Actually, I do not need help with the assignment. I already know what my paper is going to be about. I just thought that this would be an interesting topic.
