Those Turkish are really playing a great match. Hard to say who’ll win. Typically, of course, the Germans score in the last minute and win, but the Turkish have been doing that this tournament, so now I’m confused. But this match is very enjoyable, plus I always like a bit of on-field surgery.
This has got to be the strangest --and right up there with the best ever – Eurocup I’ve ever seen.
I mean, who here would have thunk prior to this match that it’d be Germany that would come out afraid and unglued? And against I team that’s about as depleted as it can get. (two subs and a keeper)
Mad props to the Turks not just for the enormous hearts they are showing but for giving us a hell of a first half of class footie.
1-1 at the half, but I have Turkey ahead on merit by far – trust they can keep it up for the rest of the match. German pragmatism tied right-away, yes, but they’ve done practically nothing football-wise aside from that…other than Lehman showing he’s ready for retirement. Looks really rattled out there.
Yep, nothing like watching a stapler gun to the back of the head…
Seconded, in spades. I really thought Turkey would have a lie down this match but they’re still going strong.
Turkey 4-3 on penalties, anyone?
Ugh, you have to be kidding me! Stupid technical difficulties.
Pathetic, really, but what do you expect from a network that has its announcers calling the match from Connecticut?
Same problem with my dish…blackout happened at source.
Par for the course in the bizarro-world that is this Euro '08!
Bugger. I have to retract my bitch - BBC had the same problem.
It’s still pathetic that ESPN didn’t send the announcers to the matches.
Pictures back now on the Beeb, but does anyone else have the audio a second ahead of the picture? Annoying, because every time they have a shot you can tell in advance whether it’s going to go in, from the commentator’s reaction.
[ETA] and that annoyance has been fixed… because we’ve lost the picture again
Sh*t! Again!
And here I thought the you could set time by The Swiss.
While this insanity goes on, might as well read this:
Why is there a time delay of a second or two between digital and analogue radio broadcasts?
ETA-Holy Batshit! It’s now 2-2…and we can’t watch a thing!
They’re both digital, though.
Anyway, Turkey have equalised, natch. I saw that goal coming, mainly because the commentator screamed “goal!” before we saw it go in.
And Turkey strikes back yet again. They really are the comeback kings of the tournament.
No. It can’t be happening…can they do it again!!!
3-2 Germany on added time…
They’ll need to be now. Great goal by Lahm, 3-2.

3-2 Germany. Anyone that can give us a recap? Anyone outside the stadium that is?
Hell’s bells.
BBL.
Ah well, order restored to the Galaxy, I suppose… But I hope the Germans won’t be this lucky in the final. Anyway, again: a match to remember. I really liked how Lahm was made to look like a fool before the second Turkish goal And what’s with those technical difficulties, they suck. I was watching the German channel and the reporter had already announced Klose’s goal before I’d seen it.
Well I’m pretty happy with the result myself. One of the reasons I like Germany is that they seem to get involved in more than their share of thrillers. The BBC pundits are going on about how lucky they were to score three off relatively few chances, but that’s down to high quality finishing.
That’s right! I hate it when this kind of an argument is brought up to diminish a team’s victory. Football is about scoring, not about generating as many chances as possible and then spoiling them.
Can’t comment till we get the replay, but from what I’ve been reading it’s not just the BBC:
Then again, I daresay that like it or not, it’s the final score that matters. Besides, German football is certainly not Catenaccio…they’ll let whoever is up against them play as well.
So Germany it is.
Just hope these glitches don’t surface in Vienna tomorrow nor Sunday – what a disaster that would be for such a great tournament.
