Online DC comic reference site

Inspired by this thread, I went out and got the first issue of the limited series. This is the first time since the early 90’s I’ve bought a comic, so I’m a little lost. E.g., Triathalon? Who’s that and what does he do?

Fortunately, I found The Marvel Directory to help me with the miscellaneous Avengers.

But I haven’t been able to find an equivalent for the DC universe. (I stopped reading DC books soon after the “Crisis on Infinite Earths”). I can see that GL and Flash seem to be different people, and Plasticman appears to have been retconned, but I’d still like a reference.

Do any of the resident comics geeks know any good reference sites for DC?

Related question: I see the Criminal Syndicate (Earth-whatever evil versions of the JLA) get destroyed in the second scene. Am I nuts for remembering the same thing happening at the start of the Crisis?

Thanks for your help.

The DC Guide is a decent one.

Also, there’s a DC Universe timeline here.

The problem with DC is that the DC Universe has been completely reset at least once, maybe twice. So while those of us on Earth-Prime may remember certain things happening, they didn’t really. As a matter of fact, Earth-Prime no longer exists, and neither does Earth-1, Earth-2, Earth-S or any other alternate existence.

Great! That’s what I needed. DC’s own site wasn’t too helpful.

paperbackwriter:

You’re not nuts.

This is the post-Crisis version of the Crime Syndicate, which comes from the Earth of the anti-matter universe (where Qward is also located). They returned in a graphic novel called JSA: Earth Two. (I think there was an earlier appearance of this bunch in Justice League Quarterly, too.)

By the way, here’s an Atlas of the DC Universe for you, if you’re interested.

It’s Earth only, tho’. Sorry.
