Online Purchases Cashback Sites?

Many years ago i never knew about these things and thus when i make purchase from sites such as dell, ebay, gap etc… i had no clue i would have gotten cashback if i had signed up for fatwallet. Thus sign up fatwallet, sign in and then click on site then buy item then get cashback.
Ever since then i used fatwallet. However i noticed there seems to be other sites that offer a higher percentage for cashback for certain sites. Example fatwallet might offer 4 percent but another site is 5 or even 6 percent.
Does anyone here use a few different cashback sites depending on which one give higher cashback for that merchant or do you only stick with one? I only used fatwallet b/c its really simple. I also used ebates as i recalled once but there seem to be lot of other cashback sites… however some seem to be shady such as they count cashback wrong or some other issues. Fatwallet i think i had some issues with it a while back but in general its very reliable. Does anyone have recommend for any other cashback sites? The thing that i like about fatwallet is you could paypal any amount to your bank account. But do other sites have a higher minimum? I dont usually do any transfer from fatwallet to paypal until i have a good amount but i wouldn’t to have cashback in a site where you can’t cash anything out unless you have minimum say $20 cashback etc.

When I signed up for Ebates it said they pay out quarterly but then when I hit $20, they paid it out right away. So I don’t know if they cash out every twenty bucks and then again on the quarters our what. Anyway, I just signed up for Christmas shopping and didn’t really bother with due diligence beyond not signing up for a scam site.

My friend is raving about ebates.com right now. Of course, all of her raving on Facebook is getting her loads of Facebook friends to sign up for ebates.com using her referral link, thus netting her a lot more money. But she spends probably 50% of her shopping budget at Amazon, and ebates works with Amazon so it does pay for her.

Hey all got another question. I gotten cashback to my fatwallet many times. I also helped someone signed up for a checking account bonus such as those $100 ones and those they receive a 1099.
I know that cashback such as fatwallet and cashback on chase credit card purchases etc are not taxable. Its a rebate.

However if you sign up for ebates or befrugal and get a $10 or $5 signup bonus, are those taxable? Does anyone know if you get a 1099 for those things?

The bank probably sent you a 1099-INT on which interest payments are reported. They are required to send you one if the interest paid in a given year is $10 or more. (They MAY send one if it’s less, but it’s unlikely they will.)

If ebates were to send you a 1099 for activities not related to a bank account, it would be a 1099-MISC. They are not required to send a 1099-MISC until payments reach $600 in a year. (They may send one, but are unlikely to.)

Of course, you must report all taxable income each year whether or not you receive a 1099. The fact that you will not receive a 1099 just means it will be harder to get caught if you don’t report it.

I have used Ebates for years. They have an app that goes on your toolbar that changes color when you are on a site that they offer cash back on so you don’t miss an Ebate.

Ebates on Amazon only works on certain things like clothing, pet supplies, cameras and kitchen items, not everything you buy.

You can make out quite well when you shop a sale on a site that has an Ebates Daily Double (double the normal cash back). I’ve shopped 20% off Sephora VIB Rouge sales (private sales offered to people that spend $1,000 or more per year in their stores) with a daily Double of 8% (instead of 4%).

IMHO, Ebates has the best store selection; Macy’s, Banana Republic, Gap, Sephora, Saks, Lands’ End, WalMart, Kohl’s, Lord & Taylor, Groupon, Crate & Barrel, Staples, White House Black Market, Microsoft, Apple, Coach, etc.

My quarterly checks are anywhere from $10 to $78.

Reported.

I’m not sure why that’s reported, but, regardless I’ll toss in mine. I use UPromise. It works for a ton of online retailers plus some brick and mortar stores (they also have grocery coupons).

On top of that, you can dump the money into a High Yield Savings Account. I use the Sallie Mae one that gives .80% APY (about the same as my CapOne360 (formerly Ing)), plus they match 10% of the deposits. It’s specifically set up to work with UPromise.

I could go into more, but you have to have a kid to add as a dependent, it’s designed to be used as a college savings account, though it doesn’t have to be YOUR kid. I’ve mentioned to other people that it’s not a terrible idea that if they’re planning to have a kid, set it up in a neice/nephew/friend’s kids name and change it over when they have their own kid.

Also, you can get a UPromise credit card that just gets you cash back (1-5%, up to 10% if you combine the deals) on everything, deposited into that account.

People who post for the first time, revive dormant threads in doing so and provide links to external websites are, at the least, suspected of being spammers. The poster I reported met all three of those conditions.
