Online Seminars

I’m an aspiring author, but my skills really need to be honed if I’m to have any hope of being published. A friend passed on a catalog to me-- the Gotham Writers’ Workshop. They offer numerous seminars on writing. Unfortunately, there are age limits on the offline seminars, and they’re quite far from home besides.

I’m interested in taking the ten-week online course. It would be asynchronous, and use a sort of bulletin board system. Has anyone here had any experience with these types of online courses?

Thanks.

Oh man, hamsters ate the post.

Here’s the summary:

  1. Probably not worth it.

  2. Post it here, people are pretty good at helping out if past examples hold.

  3. Failing that, go in person. The advice you get face-to-face is generally more honest (and less self-righteous) when done in person.
